So maybe Kiryu was still singing with Nishiki. (I mean he clearly only stopped being "brothers" with him for his safety in the events of 0)
Playing the game I absolutely love how Kiryu views Ichiban and works with him. At least from what I've seen he truly sees Ichiban as the hero as the next generation and more than that, one who has a type of strength Kiryu has always struggled with (relying on others). Kiryu also just has so much fun with Ichiban and his friends. It's so wonderful to see.

My fav thing in the song every version Japanese va sings is the little crack when he sings “KOWASEIIIII!” It adds to the realism that Kiryu is an amazing singer and can sing his favorite song perfectly, but still isn’t perfect and has raw vocals, it adds to the feeling that he’s singing so hard to him and nishiki’s song with such emotion and isn’t… ahem… obviously autotuned to the ground.

The weird thing is the autotune is apparently not even a Yong Yea thing because he sings all the other songs just fine without it. In fact Ichiban singing this himself *is also auto-tuned* for absolutely no reason when we already have Kaiji Tang singing his goddamn heart out.
Its amazing that the game forces Kiryu and Ichiban into a Bar with a Karaoke mike in Chapter 3 and, as if compelled by some mysterious force; Judgement is just there. Waiting to be selected without having to unlock it or have Kiryu remember a song he hasn't sung in decades. Because somehow, he had the right Kyoudai to sing it with again.
I love how this series’ character designs have developed over the years. The original Yakuza designs were phenomenal obviously but its truly incredible to see the way that the designs have progressed narratively.
