    The aldebaran bfs is better, but this reel is easier to cast

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean you are comparing a more expensive reel to this one... but lets hear it! What is it that you find better?

    • @gobybryant1001
      @gobybryant1001 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      raWr Fishing you’re actually wrong the aldebaran is cheaper than the alphas on digitaka. It’s better because it’s a whole ounce lighter way more compact lower on the rod and has a clicky drag just to name a few things

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually I am not that wrong. You are comparing an old legacy reel with a price that have dropped. So the comparison wouldn't make that much sense in my view. But to each of our own! Glad you are enjoying the reel. If they come out with a new updated version, I will consider it! This Daiwa may have sparked the movement for shimano to develop their next bfs reel.

    • @gobybryant1001
      @gobybryant1001 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rawrfishing so its old and its still better than the alphas? don't think the alphas will cause Shimano to try and over engineer something because the Aldebaran is still better imo, but I do still think they are gonna release a new BFS reel soon. hopefully at least

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gobybryant1001 hey man, you got the experience with the two reels! i'll take your word for it, but I believe they will release a refreshed version rather than re-engineered version. afterall, anglers are humans. they like new things! small changes can allow them to sell a bunch MSRP rather than dropped prices for being several years old.

    Zero turn tension knob. Set at the factory. Made stiff for that reason. Drag star is made of Zaion carbon. Great reel you will enjoy it!! The roro spool has a fixed rotor different than the factory spool rotor that moves in and out. Those bearings are air variety no need to change. The aftermarket spool is just alright but you can throw some really small stuff. Just make sure you turn up breaks because of fixed rotor it will spin faster than factory spool that works well on break setting 6. On roro turn up to 14 or higher. Congrats on your purchase.

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes i read more about it after buying it. i didn't wanna ruin it for myself. I am pretty stoke they tune their reels exactly how I do it. thanks for the tips! I am pretty familiar with the Roro spools as I have gotten one for my tatula. very interesting concept. Too bad it didn't work well on my Tatula. we'll see how it works with this reel. I am assuming you have used it? Once again, thanks! this is one sexy reel!

    • @arcuriotv6894
      @arcuriotv6894 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rawrfishing Yes I own the reel and the aftermarket spool. I purchased it when it first came out. Got some time on it so I figured the info would help you out. The roro spool does fit ok just not impressed with the fixed rotor. The factory spool does really well and I use it for most applications. The roro I keep spooled up for small streams where distance is less important or needed. Have fun and enjoy!! We enjoy your content👍👍

      thanks man! i totally appreciate the help! I am in the long run for BFS gears and I hope to change the US market one day so that they would carry more BFS stuff! With KastKing and Piscifun battling to have the budget BFS gears in the US might just force Japan to push some of their BFS gears here ;) So any supporters in my movement would help us reach one step further in this journey!

    Nice to see it arrived! I'm gonna tell you right now, I don't think you are going to have issues with the line going in between the spoon on this one.The way this reel was made, they made sure to block any space that line could slip into, around the spool. I had a few backlashes on mine with 4 lb fireline crystal, and had no issues. Also, this reel has a zero adjustment tension, set at the factory. You're not supposed to mess with it supposedly. You can mess with it, but it might give you more resistance in turning the knob than a regular reel. I didn't get to use mine that much, just for a little while. So far I landed a tiny 2" bass on a trout magnet with it lol. The rod I had it on was not the best for casting trout magnets, and now I have it on the kuying teton 552SUL. Eventually I'll have to try it out on the 6'0 UL king. I still got to do more testing with it. I ended up landing a few bass with the Scorpion BFS XG, throwin around 4" elaztech finesse worms, t-rigged with no weight, that day.

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its one fine reel! I think the way we bfs anglers tune our tension knobs, is the same way they have tuned it. While I sometimes play dumb on the video set, i already taken a photo on exactly where the notches were lol. And after turning the knob a bit, I was able to conclude that I tune my tension knob for bfs reels the same way. Sounds line you are having some nice fun! Fall bite started for you yet?

    I knew it! You're going to have a blast with it. Keep the stock bearings if you're using the stock spool. Once you switch to the Roro spool, keep the side plate bearing and switch out the roro bearing, roro bearings are pretty trash. Trout magnet is actually 1/64 oz jighead + trout magnet body.

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it's so much fun casting it! already did the cast test (i mean im sure u see the thumb nail lol.. the back ground is water). I know the Roro spool comes with bearings but it's not their SIC Micro bearings. Roro is that bad? I know they are new and all... but i'll fiddle around. May have to go high end JDM ones! really? 1/64 oz jighead and a trout mag body is 1 gram? that plastic must be heavy LOL

    • @chuelee7201
      @chuelee7201 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have roro spool and prefer it over stock spool for lightest of baits but I also prefer roro fixed inductor vs SV inductor on stock spool for bfs fishing. You'll like the reel regardless, best bfs reel for the money in my opinion (between daiwa, shimano and abu)...you can add 4 bearings to knobs and 2 bearings on worm gear if you're willing to fully disassemble the reel, for total of 12 bearings, same as new steez air tw

    You can cast trout magnets with factory spool as well. Just spool up with 2lbs test and the rod choice is even more important to doing this. Teton or Ace Hawk double good choices

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      that's what I have heard! gotta get them short rods that goes .6 grams rating lol. I can see that 2 lb test line won't be a problem here.. like there is no Gaps between the spool and the reel. no need to fear line going into that!!!!!

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have seen that reel but it's not on the to test list.. Not sure how having a dual braking system would benefit or impact the casting as you now have extra weight on the spool. the spool is 11 grams so it's not that light compared to other reels out there. Lastly the price is a bit steep for a CDM reel. sure it got two spools.. but if i get a reel for BFS, then the other spool is technically useless. I normally look at reels 65 dollars and below unless it's a high demand from my viewers. if there are more people willing to up vote for this, then i can consider it!
