I have driven the transfagarasan. It’s an epic road with some fantastic scenery. On the northern side with all the hairpins, one had collapsed and there was just a stop sign to warn you of the drop ahead. Quite a few place to pull over and get pictures. The car park at the top charges an extortionate amount to park and it’s cash only.
Great cars needs great roads to be driven and thanks Ford Europe for letting us know of such incredible machinery Seems like Ford is doing Chevrolet's job as well "finding new roads" along with going further
4 Years ago i skied down this road 😂. No joke. Several avalanches destroyed the bridges and the crash barriers. It took me 6 hours to ski down to the icefall and to climb down the mountain
"Nicolae Ceausescu build a road that would enable his people to flee into the mountains just in case..." Who writes these idiotic descriptions? The construction was influenced by the 1968 invasion of Czechoslovakia but it was built as a military objective first, to link 2 important military bases, then tourism was supposed to flourish around it. The description makes it sound somewhat medieval.
Too bad for the experience that audio editor does not have any knowledge about cars. Full acceleration on the entering of a hairpin and no sound on straights is just awful to watch.
eu cand activez traducerea in romana, imi traduce in poloneza... oricum, e un fel de google translate... Am impresia ca e o traducere automata, dupa sunet
I drove this in a 1.5 liter hyundai diesel. I got stuck behind a older BMW 3 series that seemed to be afraid to go over 10miles an hour... It took all that pathetic hyundai had to finally pass that guy, and then got to enjoy the road a bit... the whole time thinking, what I wouldn't give to have my paxton coyote mustang out there instead of that rental shoebox.... An amazing road indeed.
I've been driving on both roads, Stelvio Pass and Transfagarasan in a 400 PS sport car. Stelvio Pass it's an amazing road and a great view but it can't be compared with Transfagarasan. If you are a simply tourist maybe you will enjoy Stelvio Pass much more but if you are a car enthusiast, than Transfagarasan it's the best place in the world to be. It's the romanian Nürburgring....hehehe
Not even in top 60! Ironically, Vidraru power station is not even the bigest in Romania! Such misinformation in this video... Get your facts straight Ford!
Hi Narcis, Steve Sutcliffe here, so sorry - the original narration script read "one of Europe's largest hydro-electric power stations" - not the world's largest. But for some reason I got it wildly wrong when recording the eventual script. You are entirely correct, the Vidraru was the world's 9th largest when originally built but there are many others that are larger nowadays. I hope you can forgive me and enjoy the rest of the series, best regards, Steve.
Narcis, the fact Ford and Castrol included Transfagarasan in their video should make you proud of it, not sarcastic. Or you're just one of my co-nationals never ever satisfied with Romania?! Ok, Vidraru Dam is not the largest in the World, Europe or Romania, so what?! Thanks to Ford and Castrol and people like Steve Sutcliffe or those from Fifth Gear, foreign people saw this fantastic road and wish to visit Romania.
Mehh... The trip is so much more enjoyable and challenging when made the other way around as these guys did it... Meaning from Sibiu to Curtea de Argeș.
A 420hp 5.0L of this body style? Looks like a 2015 or newer. Maybe this was during the preproduction stages. The 2014 was 420hp but 2015 or newer is 435hp.
sorry.. nice footage and all but you could make it even better... on the video it looks very normal and if you would see it in real life or in better videos you would see how crazy this road actually is.. here i dont see that
I miss the 2013 Shelby GT500s which had a 5.8L V8 supercharged with 662bhp 6 speed manual with 0 to 60 in 3.4 seconds and 202mph. The 2016 Shelby GT350R is even better the standard version of the newer mustangs.
I am romanian and I do apreciate the promotion but Vidraru is surely not the world biggest hidro plant.its not even the biggest in Romania🤣🤣🤣 also 40 workers lost their lives not 400🧐
The road was built mostly using Romanian army soldiers. There were no Hungarian political prisoners in Romania in that time. If there were political prisoners, there were more Romanians than any other nationality.
i want to thank you, this kind of publicity need this contry, thanks again.

AND to serve as a quick way to link Bucharest with Transylvania just in case that viper to the west, Hungary , attacks us again...
5 years to finish the road and 40 lifes lost not 400 😑 ..

Best Regards!
This was fantastic, but why Isn't the GT350 available in Europe?? It would make for a great Halo vehicle.
Da un like daca esti roman.

Why Ford doesn’t make independent suspension Mustangs in the U.S.?
I drove this in a 1.5 liter hyundai diesel. I got stuck behind a older BMW 3 series that seemed to be afraid to go over 10miles an hour...
That's not a problem, it is even more powerful when it comes from others....
How about Stelvio Pass in Italy?
I've been driving on both roads, Stelvio Pass and Transfagarasan in a 400 PS sport car. Stelvio Pass it's an amazing road and a great view but it can't be compared with Transfagarasan. Romania FTW - I am romanian.
I'm from Romania!! That place it's great but the rest it's...... traffic jams in Bucharest omg.
i wonder how different is this ford mustang then the USA one
The weed is perfect in Romania
One problem that EVERYBODY says that the Transfagarasan is a highway. IT IS NOT A HIGHWAY. Its a national road.
Old times: a long highway in 5 years....
Now: a short highway in 2 decades
Need for Speed Transfagarasan needs to be the next title xD
"Vidraru Dam, the world's largest hydroelectric power station"?!?! Haha
Not even in the top 10: oilprice.com/Latest-Energy-News/World-News/The-Worlds-10-Largest-Hydroelectric-Dams.html
Not even in top 60! Ironically, Vidraru power station is not even the bigest in Romania! Such misinformation in this video... Get your facts straight Ford!

DO not worry, Steve, Romanians are well known to be very critical, sometimes losing themselves in it.... Great video otherwise, thank you !
Bu Ford Amerika da Michigan da üretiliyor
Romanians, assemble!
Mehh... The trip is so much more enjoyable and challenging when made the other way around as these guys did it... Meaning from Sibiu to Curtea de Argeș.
Did the video just call Vidraru the world's largest hydroelectric power station?
A 420hp 5.0L of this body style? Looks like a 2015 or newer. Maybe this was during the preproduction stages. The 2014 was 420hp but 2015 or newer is 435hp.
This is also the european model (no vents on the hood) so there might be a few restraints HP wise.
Andrew Christianson Europe doesn't get as much power because of left driver side conversion
Try Transalpina hwy in Romania. 100 times better than Transfăgărăşan.
It was so he can move the troops from one side to another to defend the country, but anyway good movie
Imi place masina,e preferata mea.Drumurile strica masina :(.
