- On this week's Jackbox playthrough, Polygon shows its entire ass, but not in a way where TH-cam should demonetize us. It's very wholesome. Anyway, we're playing Trivia Murder Party from Jackbox Party Pack 4!

Pat always has the funniest answers for the one truth one lie section of Fibbage, but Brian's always the one that comes up with the most convincing lie. Gill and Gilbert are too powerful.

Simone’s death was so poetic
Pat consistently has the best answers, which is an incredible feat given everyone he plays with is also extremely funny.
Argh, as somebody who teaches calculus, that inverse cosine problem is infuriating. Secant is the multiplicative inverse of cosine, but the appropriate word for that is reciprocal. The function inverse to cosine is usually just referred to as "inverse cosine", or sometimes arc-cosine, and it is very much not a trig function itself. My students make this mistake constantly, no matter how many times I emphasize the difference. A trivia game that spreads misinformation and contributes to student failure in an already difficult course is basically a crime.
Lewa263 try explain this to schoolboy me when the symbol we used for acos is goddamn cos^-1(x). maths is v rational, they said
Lewa263
Having not taken math for a few years, I got this wrong question right and I'm not sure what that says about me.
thBeam The problem isn't math's fault. It's the words we use for math things. So I blame the English language.
YES GOD lol that was so upsetting
That’s exactly what I was thinking! I read the question and then saw the answers and I was like none of these are right??

These videos were my introduction to Jackbox, so I always call it fibbage about you
I am so disappointed in everyone except for Simone for taking the money
I wanna like this comment but I can't. So, I'll reply instead to let you know that I liked this comment!
Nice work!
Also, NICE!
Trivia murder party is basically an adventure zone arc
HEY TRIVIA MURDER PARTY? MAD MATH NERD HERE!
Secant is the RECIPROCAL of cosine not the inverse!
That would be ARC-COSINE, sometimes called INVERSE COSINE!
So, yes that was a trick question.
it's a gray area. reciprocals are multiplicative inverses, thus the secant of a given angle is the multiplicative inverse of it's cosine. And while it is vague, arccos isn't an option so it's not like that could have led them astray
Ok thank god I thought I was crazy! We just went over like the basics of cosine and stuff in algebra and I was told the the inverse of cosine was just inverse cosine
Adding in some bonus detail:
It comes down to is it the inverse function of cosine, is it the inverse multiple of cosine, or is it the inverse adden of cosine, which are arccosine (or cos^-1), scant, and -cosine respectively, as all are correct in their own context. Inverse functions don't have common names other than Inverses, where Inverse multiples and Inverse addens go by reciprocals and opposites respectively.
this comment is from 2018? god, i still thought i was cis then...
how on EARTH did SO MANY OF YOU FORGET HOW LONG WIKIPEDIA HAS BEEN AROUND
Right? I remember when Facebook and Reddit came out. That's down to TH-cam and Wikipedia but Wikipedia definitely feels older
@@jadejaguar69 , come on you cant guess a free video hosting site has been around longer than wikipedia
Right? It was a no brainer question: even if you don't know the specific dates, 3 of the choices were social media answers, while one of them was an encyclopedia one. It's obvious that when it comes to the internet, the encyclopedia takes priority over social media.
@@singingsunflower9000 the other option was twitter not TH-cam anyways. Definitely the only viable answers were Wikipedia and reddit, i figured wikipedia but reddit wouldn't have been impossible

Oh my god you have the best pic of Matthew Gray Gubler as your profile
5:01 That answer is wrong. They're looking for secant because it's equivalent to 1/cosine, but that doesn't make it the inverse. the real inverse of cosine is the arccosine
yeah jesus i thought i was going crazy
Yeah, this bothers me way more than it should and I was just coming to type this exact correction lol
Well, at least Pat has good hair to fall back on.
And a regular ass.

Hey why’d you have to do that to me :)))))
This may be my new favourite Jackbox. Jenna and Simone were killing it!

This was one of the best jackbox videos you did :)
i was gonna suggest they play trivia murder party!! polygon can read my mind
Fucked up vs regular ass got me crying oh my god
I've actually thought about this for a bit, and I think not doing anything is the best move when it comes to cutting off your finger in Trivia Murder Party.
Think about the pros and cons.
The one con is that you die, but how bad is that really? You were most likely going to die anyway (especially with a missing finger), and even if you did survive, it doesn't necessarily put you at much of an advantage in endgame as ghosts have a massive advantage to catch up.
Now think about the pros, and there's really one major one: Money. Choosing to not cut a finger and becoming a ghost instead, you have a couple advantages when it comes to earning money for endgame.
One, you don't have a missing finger, so you have a higher chance of getting questions right.
Two, the Death row stuff does give ghosts a chance to win money. Sure, you don't earn the $33 for your finger, but that number is insignificant when it comes to the other possibilities.
I also believe entering endgame as a ghost is actually the better option, as with that extra money, you'll have a farther advantage, and the extra option for each question makes it very easy to catch up to the survivor.
In conclusion, when playing Trivia Murder Party, if you are on death row and are told to cut off a finger, the better option is to not cut a finger, as I believe I've sufficiently proven how death in this case is the better option. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
You know, I've never thought about this, but that's a very good point. What really does it for me is that cutting off a finger may prevent you from answering a question correctly when you would have otherwise, losing that potential money. The $33 is laughably small in comparison to that: Only one question is needed to be correct when you wouldn't have been able to answer and you've already made like 30 times your money back. Cutting off a finger can be seen as basically gambling that you will be the last survivor. If you take that gamble and then die later anyways (Which is likely as you won't be able to get 1 in 4 questions correct), you've only screwed yourself over. And even if you make it to the end, as you've said, being the final survivor isn't that great anyways. Unless you're a trivia god who gets like all of the final questions right, being a top ranking ghost really ain't that bad.
Oh hey, Ryan from SB Nation is in this video! Now that he's here...
Bring back Card Show
I love Murder Trivia Party because the one time I played it, I won twice in a row. I was very proud.

Secant is 1 over cosine. Cosine is adjacent over opposite. Sine is opposite over adjacent. Therefore, sine is equal to secant.
