I too love Garphill games, Shem is a great designer, but I totally agree with your thoughts with regards to the increasing complexity. I have Wayfarers of the South Tigris and I love it but not so keen to own Scholars after a playthrough and Inventors a step to far. Having seen your playthrough here I am convinced I'd like to add this to my collection, just ordered 😊. A great way to introduce my parents, in their 80's, into the Garphill universe.
I love it and this is rare example when I bought the game before Rahdo's runthrough appeared on a channel 😀 Btw Rahdo. I am happy that you stopped talking about gameplay in final review section and you are focusing on features, on upsides and downsides. I started watching also final thoughts yey :)
I really like this game , i placed it in my top 3 of 2024 , even though I haven’t beat it yet , it’s very enjoyable to play and get back on the table very often !
Fantastic runthrough! Speaking of Garphill, you should really try out Wayfarers of the South Tigris with the new expansion since it have a mechanism to use the influence in other ways, such as trading provisions for coins etc. We did not like the influence at all and agreed with your final thoughts, but this fixes it :)
this game looks awesome fast crunchy with low rules overhead, i tried playing men nefer but got lost in the rulebook that front loads a lot of concepts and then walls of process, it took me two hours to play and i didn’t finish, sabika was a much tighter more polished game that i could grok. but this feels super polished distillation of garphill games greatest hits without sacrificing the crunch. more developers need to polish their games like this
Excellent playthrough and video. I haven't played this game yet, but it is on my shelf waiting it's turn. I have the rest of the North Sea, West Kingdom and South Tigris games, and for now know that the South Tigris games are too much for me so I'm waiting till I become a stronger player. So far the hardest game I played was Paladins and came in last place against experienced players, but it was an enjoyable loss so that is why I still have the game.
i do not have many games played of this yet, but thinking about house ruling it that i woudl separate deck to ship, building and people deck and you can take from any of this, so that it doesnt happen that you didnt get a building till round 3 or more

oh that's very interesting!
Enterprise E was the Sovereign class. Enterprise D was a Galaxy class and I believe it was the bigger of the two.
Man, I really need to try this one…. (I still have yet to try the Valhalla expansion with Raiders…)
