- Restoration very rare geared motors in the world in 1945 simple
we perform restoration of an old and out of service geared motor. This electric motor dates back to World War 2. It is one of the very few remaining electric motors of World War 2. it took a long time to repair and renew. a lot of parts have been severely burned.

The inside of the motor was surprisingly clean.
As is normal with modern electric motors , they are sealed up pretty well unlike those from back in the 40's
Amazing, how, with such simple tools, this man achieves so much on his own? He really makes feel that we do live in a very wasteful society with so many unnecessary machines and objects. Granted it does not look very hygienic and sophisticated but, hey, he is getting the job done. We should learn from these people and their skills and stop polluting our place. That doesn't look like any 1940s motor I've ever seen, it's much too compact and the wiring looks very modern. I'd guess 1980s at the earliest.
You need to use primer before you can put the top coat on and you shouldn't use a hammer on cast iron or on cast aluminium
Terrific job on the restore it's really too bad cast iron still rusts so badly no matter what part of the globe it's on.
Cast irqon doesnt rust like that but cast steel does

@London Smith, I agree that this is most likely from 1945, I would guess more likely 1985. However this is a very good video :-) I would like to suggest a few future changes for Random Scrap.
1. restore the iron that has rusted, rather than just chipping it away. there are loads of videos showing how to do this.
2. rather than cleaning and then silver painting steel bolts, etc. polish them and then coat them with something.
3. on that shaft ring that provided the seal with a surface to ride on, please clean the surface up in a lathe or even a drill, again don't just clean and paint.

I would be surprised if it is really 1945 vintage. I think yu are doing a lot of things the hard way. Have fun, though, and learn something. That's the goal.

-watched to see if I could come up with my original reasoning for the remark - and I cannot. I apologize. I am almost never snarky, but something leaked out 0f me that day. I have found there were aluminum extrusions in WWII, so maybe it is a 1945 motor. Do you suppose for an aircraft application? The armature looks to be of superior quality, for example.

Electric motor not all that old , it is a common modern motor
it is a sumitomo induction motor, there are many in my workplace
Sure this unit was submerged in water for years, but design,, alloy casing, plastic fan, power cables are recent so the rotor made with modern technology & still in mint finishing . Hope you buy pressure washer & sandblaster for next restoring session and better PPE

The only complement I will give you is All new bearings. Bad job on the cleaning of all the castings.
Never use a hammer on bearings it will crack the race. All kinds of scale left behind on all the castings.
Kalau gerakannya "cepat" begitu, pekerjaan restorasi bisa cepat selesai, restorer bis segera pergi ke restaurant .....

Me sorprende que los tornillos salgan de forma tan fácil, que no estén pegados con el óxido. Tampoco me parece que ese motor haya estado sumergido en agua ya que al sacar el protector de la hélice... (de plástico, en 1945?) estaba con bastantes tela de arañas. No me termino de convencer demasiado el video.

looks like you didn't rewind the stator and rotor ....you probably should have..... good job of general cleaning .... sandblasting would be quite a bit better

конечно, в 45м не было такой оплетки на проводах
в 1945-м они на деревьях жили, и на великах ездили, откуда там такой мотор из 45го года, брехня, совершенно новый мотор, ему лет 10-15, пластмасса из которой сделана крыльчатка для охлаждения, изоляция красного цвета на проводах, компактный размер двигателя, подшипники свежие, роликовые, да это на..балово, 1945... ну-ну..

Le monsieur, tout compétent et tout gentil qu'il peut être, devrait se protéger un peu plus. Des outils en mouvement aussi prêt de ses pieds nus, c'est pas du tout recommandé.
Build yourself a sandblaster and do not suffer with these brushes.
Please, restore your clamp instead of the engine...
