- Sitka, a Bald Eagle and Raptor-in-Residence here at the Alaska Raptor Center, showing off her vocalization skills! For such a powerful bird, the Bald Eagle has a surprisingly shrill sounding call, usually a series of high-pitched whistling or piping notes.
Did you know Hollywood sound editors often dub over a Bald Eagle's call, with another bird's vocalization? The piercing, earthy screams of a Red-tailed Hawk.
The Alaska Raptor Center, located in Sitka Alaska, provides medical treatment for over 200 injured bald eagles and other birds each year. Our goal is to release our patients back into the wild; some, however, are injured so severely they could not survive in the wild even after rehabilitation. These birds may join our Raptors-in-Residence, providing excitement and education for more than 80,000 annual visitors and for the 15,000 schoolchildren we reach through the Adopt-a-raptor program and classroom presentations around the country.

An actual good representation of bald eagle calls in film is actually from believe it or not Polar Express. Specifically the scene where the mother eagle catches the fluttering ticket and tries to feed it to her child.

Bald eagles are sea eagles and primarily eat fish, but will eat anything and are scavengers. So, yes, they are basically very large seagulls-of-prey.
