    Bald Eagles make a series of chirping whistles and other shrill, high-pitched notes and calls. I think they sound incredibly similar to a gull!
    As you may have noticed, Bald Eagles have surprisingly weak calls. Many people are surprised to learn what these powerful raptors actually sound like!
    In fact, many directors have replaced Bald Eagle sounds in movies and on TV. Instead, they substitute the screams of a Red-tailed Hawk to make the eagle sound more intimidating.
    Bald Eagles primarily eat fish. Because of this fact, they are typically heard and found near water. The BEST areas are forests near large bodies of water that provide good fishing AND tall trees for nesting sites.
    After almost going extinct due to DDT poisoning, these raptors are a true success story. Bald Eagles are now found in every US state (except Hawaii) and Canadian province in North America.

    I don’t think they sound weak at all! Their calls are beautifully clear and distinctive. I’ve heard and seen them many times in Wyoming County, NY: inflight, feasting on prey on the ground, and perched in trees and nests- juveniles and adults. I never tire of seeing them and every time I have the privilege of spotting one is a special treat! I actually just saw one today in Letchworth State Park. 🤗

      I think, you can call it "weak", just when compare it with their appereance. Like, if you see it, you don't expect that they sound like that - more likely, like red-tailed hawk would sound, as mentioned in video. Also, "bald's" one's sound more like they are complain bout something or like crying, when r.t.h. more like serious warning...

      "Weak" might be the wrong choice of word. But in comparison to how fierce and powerful the bald eagle is, it's call is relatively pitiful lol
      Maybe that's just to say that the Bald Eagle doesn't NEED a particularly scary call.

      @@vibesof303so you think they sound weak because you movies taught you to expect a different call?

      @Anne5440_ ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have noticed when watching nest cams that when they have alert a lot, they get hoarse, and the calls weaken in volume. Also, the frequency of the call is at a higher range of what human males can hear. So, for some people, the calls may sound weak. For me personally, their shrillest part of the call hits the exact frequency that causes me ear pain. Yes, the red tail hawk can be a stronger call, but it sounds nothing like the eagles. It is a unique call even among the hawks.

    I've seen them all across the country. We live in Appalachian east Tennessee now and see them occasionally.
    My absolute favorite sighting was at clear lake campground and resort in Oregon.... outside of Sisters. I was in a row boat fishing, tossed one back, and heard a great "BOOM!" Next to the boat. It was a bald eagle grabbing the fish I threw back seconds before!
    This was in about 2010.

    I was coming out of the auditorium at a local high school today in the corner of my eye way up in the sky I saw the biggest bird I've ever seen! His wingspan was ginormous! He was a little high up at first to tell if he was an eagle or a hawk, I have seen Hawks here before. By the time I made it to the parking lot was getting into the car he was circling above the football field where there are lots of trees and making a sound which I have never heard from the Hawks I have seen. I got on TH-cam and listen to your video and the last high-pitched noise it was making was definitely what the bird sounded like today that I saw! I see that you asked if we have seen one to let you know where we saw them at. I saw him at Cactus High School 63rd Avenue and Greenway Road, Glendale, Arizona.

    Saw three of them today (part of a family I was told) fishing on the Potomac River in Washington DC. Heard them call and saw them, fly, hover in place and the dive straight down, head first into the river to fish. Absolutely stunning!

    I live in Lakewood Ranch, FL USA. I have seen, and heard, them from my home. I see them frequently when I'm driving home from work. One day I looked out my 2nd story window to see an eagle chasing an osprey that was carrying a fat fish in its talons. They flew so closely to my window, it was astounding! I could see their eyes!

    Listening to a Bald Eagle right now perched high in a Douglas Fir tree outside my window... I heard him first then looked up Bald Eagle sounds which brought me to your video. Thank You for the information... I just went out and got a couple of great shots of him perched up. I can hear another one off at a distance that sounds like is calling back to him! I am in Gold Beach Oregon adjacent to the Rogue River and Gold Beach Harbor. I often see them up the river but this is the first time to see one here at home. I do have a lot of Osprey that hang out in my trees when the salmon are running! Thank You again...

    I live in Keokuk, IA along the Mississippi river Dam and Power Plant. I have lived here for 5 years and this is the first time I have heard two of them chirping. They have been returning to one limb of our tree for about a month. I have taken pictures for 4 years and the most I have seen in one of our trees is 15 at one time. Oct 2023
