I wished Undertaker kept the beard. It looked cool and it matched nicely with the newly introduced attire at this PPV. I somehow prefer it a bit more than the goatee, but both appearances are good nonetheless.
The Smackdown vs Raw Concept was way better back in the RA Era because it was very rare to see Smackdown and Raw guys interact , now the Brand Split doesn't even make sense 🤣
I always find comments like this interesting because it really wasn’t true by this point. So much so that we were just months away from random wrestlers from both brands popping up all over the place. And online, the brand split was seen as quite bad by 2005.
@@jonpotter9510Exactly lol. I feel like too many people looks at this time period with rose tinted glasses. I remember how much better the brand split was in its early years compared to 05
With a mid card women's title being on Smackdown and soon to be RAW, and with both shows reported to be three hours each in 2025, I hope they actually make the brand split more strict going forward. They should definitely bring back brand exclusive PPVs after Wrestlemania imo
24:11 Mike Chioda's expression after the 3 count his mouth clearly said "Damn It!" because he was a RAW Referee and Both RAW & SmackDown! had a different outfit on their referees.
Its funny when the smackdown superstars stayed when they heard takers gong. Like were they expecting him to celebrate with orton? 😂 and the announcer arguing sold the match more
SmackDown vs. Raw. One of the best 5 on 5 traditional Tag Team Eliminations of all time. Return of the Phenom on the highway to Hell at Armageddon inside Hell in a Cell.
The ending was so centered on Orton-Undertaker return, we do forget that Orton replaced Eddie Guerrero after his untimely passing 2 weeks earlier. Would have been interesting if the original creative was to take Guerrero (or one of the others on the SD team) out through a kayfabe work. In either case, never forget Latino Heat. “I Lie, I Cheat, I Steal.”
@@claytron3000 that would make sense, make Orton’s still the main event and have the same thing except I doubt the whole roster would have celebrated Orton winning the title.
An untimely passing and you think "we were robbed", everyone has an expiry date we just don't know when it will be. Yes there are ways to prolong your life through a healthy balanced lifestyle but everyone knew Eddie better than we will ever truly understand. Some probably thought he wouldn't be around but his passing being the way it was, was truly heartbreaking, we weren't robbed
This is the best Raw vs Smackdown ever because it was a rare and fun to see both brands interact with each other. Plus, you had Batista, HBK, Orton, Rey and JBL as top main eventers in their prime and peak while Kane and Big Show were still monsters. Carlito, Masters and Lashley were solid midcard acts.
Brand loyalty actually meant something back then. Only other time this was really such a case, was when they first brought back brand warfare for Survivor Series. After that, it just became a soulless waste of time.
WWE can't keep up with the brand split, every few years they keep unifying the belts , mixing the brands , then back to splitting again , it's not consistent for some reason. The current brand split is the worst , especially how both the tag titles don't mean anything anymore , totally forgettable and irrelevant. Who still remembers Finn and JD are the world tag team champions??
This is one of my favourite matches growing up, and it still is. The heated commentary, Taz getting hot because he wants Styles to CALL THE MATCH DOOD, a good showing from Bobby Lashley, the triple teams on The Big Show, the rapid comeback from HBK, Randy Ortons reactions on the apron. Everything felt big stakes and intentional.
Agree. Cena, Batista, Orton and Edge being the new faces of the company, Rey was a budding main eventer, classic feuds like Orton vs Taker, Batista vs Triple H, HBK vs Angle, Eddie vs Rey, Edge vs Matt, Cena vs JBL and Raw vs SD took place. WrestleMania 21, ECW One Night Stand, Vegeance and Survivor Series were fun ppvs, Smackdown vs Raw 2006 and the star power was great with Cena, Orton, Batista, Triple H, HBK, Taker, Edge, Angle, Eddie, Trish, Jericho, Rey, Booker T, JBL, Torrie and Lita being in their prime while Kane and Big Show were still monsters. Jericho and Christian's departures along with Eddie's death was the sad parts about that year.
We need to have a hard split of the brands again. This and Bragging Rights, along with actually having matches for the WWE draft picks, were some of my favorite bits from wrestling.
A lot of people always bigging up the attitude era but looking back the Ruthless Aggression Era might of had the best Summerslam, Survivor Series and Wrestlemania Events of all time
Crazy to think that this was the half way point of The Undertakers career. Even though he was part time after 5 years. This was still the half way point, before he officially retired in 2020
This was almost two decades ago. Frightening
I was 18, good old days
It really is. And I still remember it like it was yesterday.

This was my childhood. Damn peak Ruthless Aggression Era. They said 2016 Raw vs Smackdown was the best? Nah. This is the best!
Taz and Joey Styles beef in this match was hilarious 😂

Taz treated Joey Styles as if he never met the Voice of ECW, despite Taz being a former ECW star. 😅

Good catch, I didn't notice that first time round. Nice extra touch to the brand warfare

This would have been the first time we would’ve seen Eddie Guerrero vs Shawn Michaels. Damn shame
They were planning HBK vs. Eddie at Wrestlemania 22.
Shawn has said they would have that match up there.
The ending was so centered on Orton-Undertaker return, we do forget that Orton replaced Eddie Guerrero after his untimely passing 2 weeks earlier.

If eddie and randy combine it would more better
Maybe the plan was to take out Batista, he was already injured and he was supposed to drop the title against Eddie

Randy’s face when undertaker came out of the casket, brilliant 😂

1:33 I think Shawn is underrated hard-hitter, in terms of Slap. He is near master of it. Look at that slap!
It made me flinch.
HBK can knock a man out silly with his slaps. I vividly remember the ones with Randy Orton, Chris Jericho, and Chris Masters
Learned from the dirtiest player in the game Ric flair.
