OOO Jennifer, you are too sweet, your comment makes me happy. I hope you subbed cause I got so much more happy things to bring you darling. Keep smiling.
I've never had rhubarb, but I would love to see how it grows. We only have enough room for a very small garden, so this year we will plany some tomatoes and peppers, but we are excited about planting our purple hull peas
O Cricket I do love me some old fashion Purple hull peas. Those were my Granny's favorite. You should try some rhubarb, I hadn't tried it till last year. But when I did that was when I decided to grow some. It's delicious. Go buy you some at the store first and try making a dish with it that is sweet (uses sugar) then decide for yourself. Thanks for stopping by and subbing.
I'm a new subscriber, love poppa pepper,I like your videos too, simple, down to earth ,no hipe, trial and error channel, get so sick of watching these younguns who try to act like super stars, keep it real sister,God bless you
LOL LOL LOL I hear you girl, sometimes I feel like people are going to think I am puttin on a fake southern accent or trying to be silly or funny. But my children and grandchildren watch my channel also and if I was faking anything they would not let me pull up to the dinner table, cause if there is one thing we don't like, it's fake pretenders. God bless you Sister.
It's been several years since I've grown much of anything except flowers. I had a bad heart attack a few years back, keep having to go back in for new stints, my daughter was terminally ill for several years and I took care of here til she passed two years ago, my 88year old mom has had several strokes so I live beside her and take care of her five days a week, so my yard work has come to a screeching halt! We lived outside of D.C. For about three years on the second floor condo with a balcony and grew tomatoes, and peppers upside down in five gallon buckets. They did really well. And before I got sick, I grew tomatoes, peppers and tried squash but the bugs got my squash. But I do love gardening. Just not much experience with it.
Hi Nanny. Your videos just draw me in. I am always excited, too, when anything comes up. I have never grown rhubarb, either. Maybe I will try some. This is my first year to garden here, too. At the old place, we had poke salad. I saved some seed to plant, but may go over and dig up a root to transplant. But the thing I am most excited about is pawpaws. I love the Cherokee purples, too. Love your wood stove.
You know I was going to just do a traditional garden spot when I start clearing land for my garden, but I am getting closer and closer to deciding to just do raised beds also. But the verdict is still out on that one.
I just found your channel from one of your comments on "Whipporwill Holler". I am a city girl all my life. Now that I have my own house but still in the city. My yard is pretty much concrete. But I have a small area that is 8x4 feet that I am growing collard greens and kale. I have 3 blueberry plants in big pots. Lemon and Lime trees in big pots. Odd enough I have volunteer mullein growing in several places in the yard. One day... I would love to homestead. Enjoying your channel! Thank you.
winane thank you so much for hopping on over to our channel, we are glad to have you. Everything your growing sounds so delicious and wonderful. I hope you do get your dream homestead some day. I think it's great that you don't let your small space discourage you and you work with what you have. Keep comments coming I love them.
I really like your day cap! You know you are living in joy and they way we are meant to when the simplest things make ya happy. Too many people these days have no idea what we're talking about. Sad. A life of gratefulness is a full one. Bless you Nanny.
Your videos are always so awesome! Great job on the fruit trees and really love the wood stove. Reminds me so much about growing up. We are in Papa Peppers snake gourd challenge and are excited to try those this year too. Also excited for all the seeds gifted to us over the last year.
Awe that reminded me of my childhood when my grandma would make us fresh strawberry rubarb pie! Best pie on Earth!! :) Maybe I should grow some rubarb since I am attempting strawberries? hmmmm :) I loved this video, thanks for sharing!!
Awesome! I am ALSO growing Rhubarb for the very first time this year!! :) I planted one a few weeks ago and then we had a freeze and i didn't cover it and thought it died so i bought another one to replace it. But, i happened to notice just day before yesterday that it is growing back and is very much alive, soooo... I guess now i will have two starts LOL. Love your channel! Have a great day :)

I've got 2 Chicago fig trees I'm going to find a place for. I'm in Nebraska. Moved here from California almost 4 years ago where i had an amazing mission fig tree that i miss so bad. I've never tried a Chicago fig but it's supposed to be ok for this climate. We'll see. Anyone else love figs?

Amen BMH, and I love it. God bless your crops this year.
