Thanks for this! "Winelight" changed my life! It's the album that made me fall in love with playing saxophone way back in 1980/81. A few years later, when I was living in the student dorms at university, a few guys would borrow my copy (cassette tape) of "Winelight" for their date nights. So maybe -- just maybe -- it changed a few other lives too.
Hi doc! Thanks for your great videos, really useful to learn and enjoy saxo! Would you please do a video on I will Always love you saxo solo? That would be great! Thanks
Honestly I felt useless in band class so i was searching for my favorite songs and found this. thank you gor bringing back that dead spirit i had in the sax again!
Jamie, I've been having trouble to expand range from c5 up...(when you start pressing the octave key) I got A and B and even C with scales and long tones, but pressing the keys for D5 actually kicks back the air pressure, you can feel it... assuming you're in the same blow/breath. If I pause on the transition, I loose the weight and/or embouchure for high notes, which results in the sound of a D4 again...
@@GetYourSaxTogether oh while I got your attention a night at the drive in movie from grease would be great body and soul and in sentimental mood too ijs 😀
How you doing my man this is Spencer's Uncle John that you do gigs with Spencer really enjoying your TH-cam on the alto some of your routines keep up the good work J F K 😎🎶🎷👊🏾
One the top 5 songs with sax for me. Grover Washington is probably my favourite influence. His solo from around 3.03 after the little mermaid instrument thing is iconic. His velvety sound, wide use of the horn and flow is just iconic. Any chance of a Just the two of us part 2 for the solo part Jamie? 😊
A beautiful theme, those that help you confirm that your favorite instrument is the Saxophone. Thanks Jamie as always great. You are invited to some cafes again.
This a very helpful lesson thank you for this. Please teach us the saxophone solo of Earth Wind and Fire - After the love has gone and Phil Collins - One more night
They're both on my list! Actually, if you want the PDF for After The Love Has Gone, it's part of my 70s compilation PDF here www.getyoursaxtogether.com/greatestsax2 and you can use this link to watch me play it th-cam.com/video/7abgFKonl-8/w-d-xo.html
Thnx for the link maestro I am learning your saxophone transcription of Billy Joel - Just The Way You Are and Men at Work - Who Can it be Now your lessons are really helpful for me as a beginner saxophone player.
Thank you sir am humbled to follow your on youtube and great ful for this solo groove just the two of us I like the song alot. And the next thing how can register for the free lessons with you sir am tenor saxophone player in Uganda
Thanks for the video! On my alto I'm having some trouble with phrases 2 and 3 of the low part. In phrase 2 I can't seem to make the C low enough to fit in with the other notes. I'm having the same issue with Db and Bb in phrase 3. Those notes sound awkwardly high next to the rest of the low part. Is this a problem with my embouchure? Any tips on how to get those notes lower?
RIP Bill Withers, sad to lose him this year!
Absolutely. A wonderful musician and artist.

Yeh, just make sure you're supporting the sound with enough breath and try and hear the note in your head.
Thanks Jamie! I guess my favorite Grover Washington Jr. is "Winelight."
Good choice!
i love playing Winelight from the album "Winelight"
For real.

Great video, but having a bit of trouble on the lower notes - switching my pinky from Eb to C fast enough to keep up with the tune.

@@GetYourSaxTogether There are some live performances of that song on TH-cam where Grover loses his ever loving mind.
Anyone got a link for the WHOLE lick? Not just the biggning. Good video and start though :)
Yeh, I don’t do vocal melody parts on this channel, just proper sax bits. I guess you’ll find it somewhere though.
Great 👍
Thank you Mauren 👍

Cos it was played on tenor it doesn’t really work on alto on the low one. Nobody would play that on alto. Keep it up the octave, that’s my advice.
Will do, thanks Jamie!
Very cool man
Thanks man!
We want gimme hope jo'anna
😉
Hello Jamie, one question
Why does the mouthpiece get clogged when I'm blowing my sax?
Clogged with spit you mean? Not quite sure. It happens to some people but I’m not quite sure why. Sorry I can’t be more helpful!
I'm torn between Santa Cruzin and Only for you (Siempre Para Ti Sere)
Both really good!
my vote is Mr. Magic
🤘🏻
Is this in 4 4 scale
It’s in 4/4 TIME. 😊
Grover Washington take me there on winelight:-)
Good one Gary!
Yeah it's great
Starts off slow and easy
Then builds
And speeds up
How do you get your beautiful vibrato?
Hey, thanks! Check out this vid for info on vibrato th-cam.com/video/WEx7fmFbc0w/w-d-xo.html
Those low notes on alto get very difficult 😂
