Being a K5 blazer fan forever this one is just stunning, ive owned 3 in my lifetime and even though I'm a jeep guy now I still have a special place for the K5
Had an 85 k10 single cab, then kid 2 was born and I had to get a “family truck.” So I picked up an 89 K5. Sold it and got into Jeeps a couple years back. Found an 86 K5 nearby for a deal, now I have both Jeeps and a K5. Never stop looking. You never know.
Wow. I love Dennis. He seems so trustworthy. So real. His voice commands attention and his attitude is sooo cool. I would buy anything from him with total confidence.
MAn that interior sends me back. I can still smell the inside of my grandfathers Chevy....smelled like fishing tackle and mud. He always smelled like gasoline.
Same! Except for me it was my dad he’s still going strong but when I was little I remember he had one of these and it smelled like Marlboro red and field sulfur lol
I had a 1980 K5 Blazer, I took my driving test in that truck. 350 with a three speed and granny low. There was nowhere I could not go in that truck!! Had a Ramsey monster wench up front. Yes Sir!! Brings back a flood of memories!! One of the top three most asinine things I've ever done in my life!! And that's sell my truck!!! Sold it when I was 21 and bought a Harly Davidson.
We had very similar past I had a 79. Bought mine in 1983. With in a year I had a 6-in lift with 35s and a b&m supercharger. Lol almost forgot the Laker pipes on the side. The good old days.
I had a 79 K5 Cheyenne with every option and a 400 with 4 bbl. Loved that truck! I think that I will spend the rest of the day kicking my ass for selling it 22 years ago!
I have a 77 Chevy cheyenne k5 blazer. Very little rust and has never been in an accident. I'm the the third owner according to my father. It is not numbers matching. Built in flint michigan for California for the year 77. Original it had 350 small block with turbo 350 trans and np203 transfer case. It now gas 383 stroker crate motor from gm performance parts, a built 700r4 transmission, and rebuilt np205 transfer case. My father is passed on now. I told him and mom I would fully restore the k5 with time. I'm honered to see such a person like u in this video giving positive support for the old k5's.
Honestly finding perfect old classics like that is probably the hardest thing to do anymore. most have been slammed, lifted, stripped into parts or turned to something that cost so much just because of the unoriginal parts. classic cars have been slowly disappearing and it’s heart breaking to watch car by car disappear or become something that doesn’t show it’s history. honestly thank you so very much for not doing what most would do and completely making the vehicle mostly aftermarket and over priced. thank you for keeping the original look of the truck and especially the motor!
Beautiful K5 Dennis. I love these earlier SUVs and have had many I have bought and did partial restorations on. I sell most after I redo them but my current keepers are 2 Broncos (68 and 77), 2 K5 Blazers (72 and 75), a 1980 Ramcharger, a 1969 International Harvester Scout, and a 68 Jeep Wagoneer. Just found your channel and love it.
I'm pretty sure that I have watched this video 12 times. I have owned 2 K-5 blazers. One was a 79 with a 400 small block n a 400 turbo tranny. Loved it. Then got a 85 with LS2 and a 350 turbo transmission the same colors as the one in the video. I wish I still had them both

We don’t need to worry bout their relationship tho. Just be thankful that we. Ave the ability to learn from Dennis as much as we do and let him be friends with anyone he wants

WOW brings back memories. I had a 77 K5 Blazer when I was 19.. Used to take the top off and cruise around. Then did a lift kit, big tires and then finally sold it. Loved that truck.
1978 was the first year of the “Sand Box” cut out in the rear floor for a place to put your feet. And the rear seat fold up I believe started in 77 !! Awesome 78 K5
The year I was born. Needless to say, that truck has aged a lot better than I have. Not to mention been better taken care of. Would love to own a vehicle from year I was born. Own a 03 Sonoma Crew Cab currently.
My first car was a 79 Blazer, red with white stripe and white top. What a beast! Use to take the back seat out, load up friends and hit the drive-in for $5 Sunday car load in 1992.
Beautiful truck!!!!! Love the touches you put on the truck! Those are the best trucks compared to Broncos and Ramchargers of the same vintage. They were head of their time I feel. Great video as always! Love the ride along! Please do that more!
What was head of their time? They all had the same basic setup, solid axles, leaf springs front and back besides the Bronco. Coils in the front. Basically the same technology. 6Cyl or V8, 3spd auto or 4 standard.

Thanks for sharing this with us. My parents used to have a 79 with 305 and full time four wheel. Custom deluxe in Mariner blue metallic with white top. These old k5s and k series trucks from the 70s are the best 👍
Gorgeous truck! I had a ‘99 (last of the square bodies) GMC Yukon, that I bought new from Sewell. It was 4 door and that silver color to which I had the dealer add black fender flairs. Tan leather interior and loaded. MAN, I wish I still had that truck!
I don’t think I’ve seen a more beautiful K5… really makes me miss mine… even if it was an old rust bucket with holes in the floorboard that guzzled gas faster than a Marine on Liberty guzzles alcohol. It never failed me… failed one single time on my mom when the driveshaft slipped smacked the pavement at about 60 MPH and cracked the transmission. Would’ve loved to have fixed it up by my parents scrapped it while I was in boot.
When I was a kid my Dad had a 1976 K5 Blazer w lock out hubs wasn’t full time 4 wheel drive… When I became adult I always wanted to own one of these bad boys .. So in 1994 .. I was ran across a 1979 K5 Blazer red/ white 2 tone factory paint called her peppermint paddy due to her red/ white paint scheme like a peppermint disk … it was full time for wheel drive so had mileage was horrible got about 8 miles to the gallon but she was in perfect working condition inside and out .. drove it from 94 until 2002 … I have owned several suburban , tahoes, Yukons , and Escalades throughout out my life time… That 79 K 5 along with a 1989 Woody Hayes Ohio state special edition suburban will be hands down the best vehicles I ever owned… Long Live Chevy/GMC … ijs 🐐🐐🐐🐐❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥✌🏾✌🏾✌🏾
Wow I absolutely LOVE what you did with the Blazer. Its perfect and in amazing shape considering 9 out of 10 are rusted out. The black on the sides makes it look so much better and you would be crazy to not keep the black vinyl on. Awesome truck and thanks for sharing with us Dennis! 👍👍🔥🔥🔥🔥❤
I had a 78 Cheyenne Blazer that was an odd duck from the factory. 305 2bbl, 4 speed, lockouts, Ralleys with 10-15 Firestones, dual exhaust, 2.76 gears. It got 10mpg and would cruise at 55 in 3rd. Put a 350 4bbl with a very small camshaft in it. 12mpg. Put 3.73s under it with 9.00-16s. 13.5 mpg. Brown and white with the same interior.
THIS BLAZER BELONGS in the Dennis Collins Wing of the Smithsonian in Washington DC under pressured glass for centuries to come. Stunning in every way. This going in someone's collection!

Can't believe I just ran across your channel. You guys have grown a lot since the old days. ya'll used to be way out in the sticks before the city surrounded you.
My old man must have like this one he owned as will. He drove it until the fenders practically fell off. I felt bad for that but it was a good oldie and must costume it to your likings.
Had a 1978 I did a restoration on when I was 13. Midnight blue metallic. Amazing truck. If I did the same resto today it would be LS 6.2 liter, 4L80E. Not a purist. Nothing like modern EFI power. Love the truck!
Like another person said I would buy before going to buy anything new. But I had a 79 Bronco I bought new and I would like to have another, tail gate window was electric where Chevy was hand crank which I like but this is beautiful Blazer
That is freaking awesome! As much as I would like to see chevy remake these again, still will never be as good as the old ones. That is still my dream truck!
I had 2 k-5 blazers I still love these trucks one day I'll be able to afford one again,I sold both mine to help my family as a teen and in my 20s forced to sell mine for my own family at that time god blesses those that bless others and one day I'll be able to take my youngest 2 daughters from Arizona back home to Chicago and on to Florida
What an amazingly solid and unbelievably solid well kept original equipment old blazer. I recently had a friend give me the identical twin to this blazer! Everthing except the choice in colors. It was still surprising to hear the list of options where identical to the one I have now. A.C., cruise control, 400small-ishblock lol, along with all power windows and stock stereo. Of course, the identical part quickly ends there, because the very northwestern tip of Washington state, is famous for its grueling wet winters around Forks Washington, plus it has miles and miles of easily accessible logging roads, gravel pits, mudholes, quad trails, power line trails, and beer serving last chance gas stations, that are not usually passed by, before a weekend hunting adventure or camping trip. This seemingly routine quickstop, for munchies and supplies, almost always gets seduced by the beer of choice impulse buy, that unfortunately spins the once bright future of a potential classic , much like the one in this video, and turns it, instead, to the one given to me three weeks ago because, his housing authority won't allow any vehicles that cannot be driven legally down the highway, nor do they wish to be able to see it from their own windows. Probably won't be seeing a person like me moving in anytime soon hahaha, I carved my initials onto the original white trash garbage can lol. It's more of a term of endearment in my area anyways haha. And no, that does NOT mean anything racial!! Absolutely not! I have friends of every ethnic background, and we are ALL quite happy to be around each other, we just put trash after all our skin colors proudly
I've had a 1979 jimmy battleship grey with gunmetal grey where this one is black since 1997 with the same interrior. Still going strong. Still love it.
I searched for this because I examined one of these eatlier today... it was kind of a mess! No rust but the paint and front end were all kinds of wrong. Glass and shell looked like a kid's school art project. I'd still buy it though 😄
Awesome vehicle, the color combination that you chosen is amazing. Who thinks when they did the driving shots of Dennis and the Chevy K5, w as almost an early 80s cop show or film
I wish all these manufacturers would go back to at least 1 frame chassis at an affordable price point for people who tow things and don’t want to pay $80,000 plus. Great video on this blazer.
I love the k-5’s my dad has 2 a 72 and a 82 we are both 4x4 we are rebuilding the 72 right now, the cool thing about the 82 it’s a diesel, but the 72 is my favorite 4 sure
Firethorn interior was a big deal in 78. It was a GM thing! But the plaid is really different with the Firethorn red. Great find Dennis. But Dennis could you show us The Hertz Shelby 350 GT. In the background. That's my favorite Mustang of all times. Shawn.
I'd rather have this than anything Chev sells new today.
Amen to that!

Saw a K5 Blazer in Houston the other day. Was mint before being in a 5 car pileup. Looked repairable, which is good.
I had a brand new 1980 like that man that brings back memories !!
I had a 1979 K5 a 1972 a 78 1986 and I can't even count the square body Chevy pickups they were great vehicles. 🏁🏁🏁
I had a friend in College that had a 1972 K5. Good Times. 👍
Dennis outstanding Blazer! Thanks for sharing with us! As always I am looking forward to the next video!
I wish all these manufacturers would go back to at least 1 frame chassis at an affordable price point for people who tow things and don’t want to pay $80,000 plus. Great video on this blazer.
Nice Blazer! Love the exterior paint colors and the interior looks awesome! 🇺🇸🚜👍
Nice! I had a '79 K5 with the 400, and a '72 K5 CST with the 400 as well. Great rigs.
I love the k-5’s my dad has 2 a 72 and a 82 we are both 4x4 we are rebuilding the 72 right now, the cool thing about the 82 it’s a diesel, but the 72 is my favorite 4 sure
I had a 76 K 5 that was that color but mine was silver and white. It was slick! Nice job on this one!
Wow!!!! The best condition I've ever seen ...
Very nice..my first vehicle was a 1979 K5......could hardley see over the dash to dive...but I loved it.
Thanks for the video Dennis.
This truck should be in the Peterson car museum.
Firethorn interior was a big deal in 78. It was a GM thing! But the plaid is really different with the Firethorn red. Great find Dennis. But Dennis could you show us The Hertz Shelby 350 GT. In the background. That's my favorite Mustang of all times. Shawn.
You guys always do it right.
I had 2 of these.. The real SUVs.. I miss those square body trucks..
Beautiful find. Like fine wine.. 👍🏼👍🏼
My first car 30years ago still miss it.
She has led a charmed life ......
Probably the cleanest K5 in the country
Beautiful! I had a 80 model all black with tan interior..
That truck is immaculate!
Fantastic looking truck 🛻 sometimes I wished I lived in the USA 🇺🇸 when I see a vehicle like this 👍🏼
