I made all kinds of sacrifices but I have ALL of the Combat Mission games and all of their DLCs and all of the Graviteam Tactics and all their DLCs.....There is nothing out there like those two games, except the new Armored Brigade 2....which I will also be buying. I may not have the sports car I wanted, but I have my games. e
"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them."
War in the East 2 it is truly a masterpiece. Using a literary metaphor, this game would probably be like Proust's In Search of Lost Time - it's hard to start, it's hard to understand, but once you understand it, you realize that everything else is shallow.
Problem a lot of these games have is either being turn based with the resulting time distortions or not having any multiplayer element to aspire to and enable social interaction. Therefore I think combat mission cmx2 is probably the best on your list and steel division 2 with 10v10 should have been on the list.
Command Ops: Battles of the Bulge, the original first one is my favorite. I prefer that interface. War on the Sea is not so good. I ran two identical scenarios both in Task Force 1942 and in War on the Sea, and in WOTS *all the enemy AI ships ran themselves aground for no apparent reason while doing fine in the old MPS title. Bugs are plenty in WOTS.
I've experienced a lot of issues in WOTS, which is why I only play it in small doses. I am kinda feeling the same about Sea Power too. I enjoy Sea Power but the bugs drive me away from playing it for long periods of time.
"War in the East 2 overall is simple?" NOT! The learning curve is very steep and playing the full campaign from beginning to end? Better be retired or willing to put more hours into it than most folks with lives have available to them. Start out playing the smaller scenarios to learn it. Read the manual from front to last. When playing keep the manual open so you can alt-tab to it while playing. The manual can be found in the Manual Folder of the Directory where War in the East 2 is located. Same applies to War in the East 1
WITE2 is insanely deep but it can also be played at a casual level too. It won't be as fun or challenging, nor will you understand what makes it so great. I would say you can play it without diving too deep into the manual. Unlike say Command Modern Operations. You can't just pick up CMO and "play it." without any sort of research or understanding of weapon systems.
I used to buy them as they came out. As the years passed I kept updating my computer, and the key finally ran out as you can only use it 3 times. I contacted Battlefront, and they said "To bad" So they lost my business and everyone I know.
@TacticsWithJoe that makes sense, driving a tank and letting the ai gun is a really lowkey chill way to bash some bots and have fun though, the tank combat is fairly realistic too!
Yeah, Graviteam Tactics is the king among real time wargames!
Graviteam got me back into wargaming. I really enjoy the game and it is beautiful too.
The audio reverb had me imagining him giving a presentation to an audience 😂Amazing list curation, thank you for putting on this Seminar today Joe
@WarriorOfWAAGH I need to make a better preset or something more creative.
I'm not the biggest fan of the generic Podcaster voice.

This vid made me buy War on the Sea. You should get sponsored my man!
I enjoy War on the Sea and Sea power quite a bit. Thank you for the kind words.

Steel Division 2 multiplayer is a steep learning curve but i find it plays the best out of any WW2 RTS.
@@firstnamelastname1760 I enjoy Steel Division 2.
Steel Division 2 is a really good game. I just didn't have it installed at the time of making this video.

@@TacticsWithJoe Yeah, unfortunately that is very true. And agree about Sea Power so far. It is far too buggy and unoptimized for me.

Try emailing them again. Slitherine has taken over. I haven't had too many issues with battlefront or slitherine.
Also Steam now solves that issue
@@andrewoffen8682 Plus we get sales
Isnt it 3 times a year?
Did you ever have a BF account? they moved to a key-linked-to-account system before moving to steam. It might be worth checking.
War in the East 2 is my favourite, especially in coop against the UI
I wish they would've created one more DLC, but it is probably a very challenging task.
I wonder what 2x3 is working on now?
@@TacticsWithJoe What you mean with 2x3?

I know these are mostly strategy games but Easy Red 2 still undoubtedly deserves a place on this list in my opinion!
I've heard a lot of great things about Easy Red 2, but I have never played it. It's hard for me to find time for FPS games.
Love Easy Red 2! Great game with a lot of content and the developer is always working on it.

Combat Mission graphics needs a major update looks like crap from the 90s.
The graphics have never bothered me, but a lot of people bring up graphic issues.
Why recommend a eastern front game on veterans day? Like recommending a game about a Chinese Japanese battle to honor Australians.
@@chrisdude2675 it wasn't really meant to be usa focused. The title is a bit confusing
@@TacticsWithJoe ya but veterans day usually an American thing to celebrate it that day. So I thought it should be US focus game.
