      Great deal, but the Cosco dog is decent at best. Wouldn’t hold a candle to Vienna, Hebrew National, Sahlens, or Nathan’s. The price of the Cosco dog combo hasn’t changed since the 80s.

    Millers Hot Dogs - Stockton CA. Supplier to San Jose Sharks and Oakland A's games. They taste like it's made from beef. It doesn't have those bits of bone and whatever else they put in a hot dog. They aren't salty like most hot dogs. They will even mail them to you. I live in Vegas now and I get a shipment twice a year! I give them as Christmas presents as well, they are that good!

      @imstelios , I was just about to post the same suggestion. I didn't eat hotdogs for a couple decades, simply because they were nasty tasting and spongy feeling. Until one day when a friend who knew I hated hotdogs told me I had to try a bite. From then on, Member's Mark hotdogs are the only ones I eat. They have the flavor and texture of a beef sausage, not mechanically & chemically separated scraps.

    I think you should do more of a tournament style challenge and try less dogs each time for an accurate assessment. Maybe 4 at a time and winner goes on to next bracket with a grand champion named at the end. I think it’d be great content and very fun.

    I have to concur with your choice of the Sabrett as the "Winner Weiner"!
    I have not tried as many Hot Dogs as you have but with the ones I have tried I came to the same conclusion that the Sabrett is definitely the superior dog.
    NOTE: I will also add that if you really want to up your Sabrett game that you should really seek out and try the Sabrett's that have the "Natural Skin Casing"! You want to talk about the Ultimate Hot Dog, well this is it!
    The casing adds that extra Pop and Snap that this beefy and tasty dog really deserves as opposed to the skinless variety.
    It can be tough to find the "Natural Casing" dogs but I think you'll be glad you did... check it out!

    As a retired aerospace process engineer, I can't help myself gravitate towards approaching tests scientifically by removing as much variables as possible that may influence end results. I undersand your video is meant for fun but i sense its important to you because you included this is your video. With all due respect, because I love your video, please accept some outside assistance. I'd like to offer some suggestions cooking time, method, presentation and of course tasting. I noticed some dogs were left on the grill a bit longer than the others. Try removing the product at the same time (in this case) the entire rack to even out cooking time. Method; grilling is just fine but try boiling, frying or at times when i'm in a hurry I pop one in the microwave (sorry to all). Presentation; perhaps you can section (or cut) them since dog length might be a giveaway as to which is which. Ah now tasting; I'd perfer to serve all at the same time (temperature) to a panel of seasoned (hungry) judges with instructions of what to concider. Participants should be fit for duty and able to distingush, texture, bite or snap, saltiness, smoke (if applicable), color, smell, and last but not least flavor. Also, lets include value due to our current ecomonic situation. Again, I love your video!😃

      What about Falls Brand from Idaho. All beef and sold by Walmart here in Utah. Never saw any Great Value ones but will ask Walmart about them. What a great variety is available in your area. Since you two are so young, you'll never know how good hot dogs were in the 60's though. You can thank the health nuts for ruining the flavor of many of our junk foods.

      @oldschoolfunkster1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I agree. Charbroiling them gives them an extra layer of flavor thus not getting the REAL flavor out of them. Best bet would have been just boiling, since that's how most of them are sold at their company stands.

    What origin does the word hot dog come from?
    The term “hot dog” was coined in 1901 in New York City at the Polo Grounds, home field at various times for both the New York Yankees and the Giants. On a chilly April day, concessionaire Harry Stevens (the company he founded is still in business) was losing money trying to sell ice cream and cold soda.

    I've been eating from street vendors in Manhattan for years and always tried telling friends that Sabretts was perhaps the best dog, but there is too much Nathan's and Hebrew National and Boar's Head hype to counter the perception of Sabretts as a lower class of dog due to being the choice of street vendors. The only dog I've found to challenge Sabretts is Hummels (a New Haven product; you can find them in NY), so I hope you can find a way to get Hummels in your next test, especially the natural casing one. And why can't you find a way to get some Kirkland dogs? My top four (and I've tried virtually all of them over the years except the really obscure ones) are #1 (tie) Sabretts and Hummels, #3 (tie) Kirkland and Hebrew National. Now you've got me planning a blind test with my family next big party, and won't be satisfied until I prove it. The Walmart discovery was shocking. Gotta go try one soon.

      A dirty water dog on the streets of Manhattan may just have been my first exposure to Sabrett. I have had Hummels and you are right, they are very good. Lastly, I'm with you, the Walmart dogs was absolutely shocking to me. I'm still in shock!!!

      My favorite vendor (in a roadside truck ) always used Boars Head, so that's my #1. I too am from NY originally (Westchester County) so Sabretts are everywhere as well. Some dogs are better off of a grill, some are better as dirty water dogs. I don't think Nathans would lend themselves well to a steam bath, likewise Hebrew Nationals. Btw. If you can cook with steam (preferrably under pressure) you wont drown your dog, and wash away all the good flavors from them. I use a vegetable steamer and keep the dogs just above the water.

    These videos are great, but I think they are flawed. You should have someone do the cooking, and a separate person randomly serve them, and then eat them blindfolded. Also, the eaters need to have a ballot where they score different qualities. Discussion should only occur after both have completed their ballots, so no one can be perspuaded by the others.

      What are the letters of the top three hot dogs? I can't associate your favorites with your comments during the tasting.

    Sabretts is #1. Has anyone watched the movie "Sleepers" (1996) ? At the conclusion of the movie Brad Pitt (losing assistant D.A & lost on purpose) leaves the courthouse. He stops outside and orders a hot dog from a street vendor. It was a Sabretts Hot Dog. First time I ever heard of them. I tried one and to this day they are my favorite dog followed by Hebrew National & Nathans.
    By the way, it was a great movie. Kevin Bacon and the other juvenile prison guards got theirs in the end. They all met the grim reaper.

    Don't knock on the Walmart foods or Great Value too much until you have tried a good handful or two of their food products. We were extremally concerned with any Walmart food stuff when they starter their Super Walmart stores that sold food and produce years back. Well, going in slowly as possible, we started in on some of their products and were impressed EVERY time. We had been used to the ago old name brands such as Best Foods, Hellman's, French's, Heinz, S&W, Green Giant etc. etc. then discovered it was like shopping at Sam's Club...very comparable beef, fish, dairy and other foods just like Costco. We have to say, even today, with all the reservations we had with using Walmart food products before, do not miss out on them. You will be impressed that their items are equal to or better than the big name brands and who knows, some of those items could be made by the big brands for Walmart. And to go with that, some to most of their products are up to half the price less than a well known brand name.

    • @samwasthebest6633
      @samwasthebest6633 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wal Mart doesn’t own a hot dog company or a factory that makes most of their Great Value products, most come right out of the same plants that make the name brand stuff.

    • @Garth2011
      @Garth2011 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@samwasthebest6633 Exactly right and folks tend to believe Great Value is from some backyard barn or farm when the facts are fairly clear, anyone lucky enough to get a contract to supply Walmart with products has to be on top of their game. Getting in with Walmart is a gold mine if you can maintain the deal.
