I remember getting their dust tape for free from a metal magazine ad. I was blown away that because it was free it was ACTUALLY DAMN GREAT! Then I got Absolute Power and was even more blown away at their killer sound. Will always love these guys!
I'm a metalhead and proud to be from Minnesota. Grew up in Rochester, Minnesota and have lived in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota for 5 years now. So proud of my home state and city, Minneapolis.
This song does jam in so many ways. The way it speeds up and slows down. The delay on the guitar is cool also. I remember the video from the 80's I think.
So many great but obscure metal bands of the 80s, many forgotten. Powermad, Hallows Eve, Bloodlust, Piledriver, Faith or Fear, Defiance, Indestructible Noise Command, Lizzy Borden, Santa, Nasty Savage, Warlord, Voivod, Excel, Angel Whitch, Celtic Frost, and Tank. To name a few
First time I see anyone calling fucking Voivod and Celtic frost "obscure". For the record, no band that had any videos in MTV can be called obscure, just smaller.
55 phucking years old. This song and this LP was so bad phucking ass then and now. Leaving this comment on 06/26/2023. I fucking love POWERMAD. I love their sound more than anyone deserved. Pure phucking bad ass everything.
Sorry one more comment... who remembers the tape had a warning sticker on it that said something like "this is heavy listening, neck braces required!" Lol
I got into some archives the other day and found some old flyers from the 80's with these guys and some other local bands. One of 'em had this off to the side - "Warning: Due to the intense nature of the music performed by these bands, neck braces are highly recommended." Had a screenshot but don't see an option to upload. Figured I'd check some TH-cam clips to keep the nostalgia going, and came across this comment and had to post. If memory serves, the bass player came out onstage a couple times wearing one of the foam neckbraces with Powermad printed across the front...classic. I think the warnings/labels came after. Definitely a cool "schtick"!🤘
Damn, been awhile since I watched this, I was at this show back in the day ...Powermad always kicked ass at first avenue & the 7th st entry club...Thanks for posting !!!
I remember when my best friend at the time ordered the e.p. "The Madness Begins..." through a metal magazine for free in middle school 25 yrs. ago. Damn I'm getting old
Strange side note. I was at this show and as the show let out all us heavy metal types spilled out into the streets of Minneapolis. At the same time Richard Simmons emerges from a local restaurant. It was not Richards day. I feel bad about it now, the crowd was very ugly, thought it was funny at the time.
@gern83 The video was also shot at Toad's Place in New Haven CT. With a more clear version of the video you can see my ugly mug in the crowd from that night.
WHO SHALL WE HIIIIIYAAAAA TO START THE FIIIYAAAAAAAAA THE CHOICE IS CLEAAAAAAARRRR TERMINATORRRR(teriminator)RRRRRRRRRRR(terminator)RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR(terminator)RRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!
It's not that rare. But I will say this, to this day, the BEST live band I've seen, bar none. ( not an easy thing to do, be THAT good live, Halford straight KILLED it with Fight, it's a close call, but these guys just fckn blew me away live)
Mike Straley Really, because I've been looking for this album since it debuted and I still haven't seen a physical copy. Sure, I've seen listings online at places like Ebay but I've never seen this in a record store. I think that qualifies as pretty rare. Of course, if you live in an area that has a couple of copies. Drop me a line.
No big deal. Took your jest the wrong way. Got too used to the trolls on youtube and, my bad, defaulted to that. Harry is my poor spelling of hairy. Meant an adjective, not a proper noun. As in they like my hairy nose and ears.
Jimi Lee I think you can get a free download of it in their website now. I own the original, Absolute Power and being from Minnesota tge 3 song Absolute Power demo.
how is it possible that this song kicks so much fucking ass, yet the rest of their work falls flat on it's ass??? somebody explain how such unfortunes can happen to a possibly great band!!

This song does jam in so many ways. The way it speeds up and slows down. The delay on the guitar is cool also. I remember the video from the 80's I think.

Gotta add Manilla Road to that list. My favorite obscure metal band
First time I see anyone calling fucking Voivod and Celtic frost "obscure". For the record, no band that had any videos in MTV can be called obscure, just smaller.
Do these guys realize just how bad ass they are?
