1st: you can guard as long as you have stamina. Even if you just got hit you can guard the next attack. So his complaints about being stunlocked are wrong. 2nd: you have to select the crafting material before doing it. Its hard to see with his facecam but I'm pretty sure his purple material was never being used cause hes an idiot. 3rd: the game is an RPG. leveling in dark souls is helpful but its designed around more mechanics and enemy behavior's. Nioh is far more stat based. Being underleveled can be a major problem. He just whines cause hes bad in general. 4th: all the major attacks from bosses are telegraphed. Usually with sound. Like you can hear a noise during the big water blob boss before he does the big beam. 5th: stances can hello dramatically. Its extra agrevating because mid stance enhances blocking and yet he never blocks. He should have been using low stance since he likes to poke and run so much. 6th: you can sell any and all gear to the shrine and you get exp and more importantly elixirs from it. The game literally cuts out grinding for healing by rewarding you for being a kleptomaniac and looting everything. He never learned that even into the DLC. idiot. 7th. Magic and ninjitsu are amazing. Even if your not doing a build for either there are skills that you can still take to help. There's literally a ninja skill that when you die, you just come back. He could have gotten this but of course he doesn't bother to do any reading so he never found it. 8th: this game is very much like Diablo in the sense that you only get to the meat of the game once you beat the story. You unlock new tiers of gear and even new mechanics like leveling up guarding spirits. He could have done this to help with the DLC as its expected you continued to play the game a bit if your playing extra content like DLC. final: Phil is an idiot who needs to stick with neopets or club penguin mobile.
2nd - Thanks for this info. I've never played this game before but after watching two other TIHYDPs where this fuck face is bitching about the crafting system being "totally random", that statement didn't make any sense. I was pretty sure there had to be a way to influence the rarity of what you craft. Looks like my guess was right.

It amazes me how he doesn’t even learn, even though he seemingly knows what the problem is because he repeatedly says what got him killed but doesn’t change anything.
Even animals learn not to do something if it results in an unfavourable outcome. *Dog touches an electric fence* - "Ow, that hurt! Not doing that again" *Phil touches an electric fence* - "Huwah? HUHHH?! Why did I get hurt?" - *does it again* - "Dood, why's this happening? I'm doing nothing wrong" - *does it again* - "Dood, what the fuck, I'm so tired of this shit! I just want to get over to the other side but no, I gotta do a stupid fucking puzzle" - *does it again* - "This is so stoopid. Uh, chat, could you pay attention to REE?"
I gotta hand it to Dave. Seriously. It is impressive how he manages to reduce such a complex combat system into something so monotonous and dull. Mid-stance Spear, default Strong x 3 combo for the entire fucking playthrough.
I know right and I thought I was bad using mostly low stance regular attacks and mid stance reg attacks with the odd high stance attacks ( I like to play the quick sort of characters in rpgs) with dual swords or kusarigama. but unlike him i'm actually decent at the game.
Hello! I can see why most of the critique towards his playstyle and behavior is valid. But after reading and hearing complaints about he never switching his stances and doing his monotouns combo, I am seriously interested in the art of switching those stances properly and skillfully. I played the game myself, did the DLC and very much optional content. And what I did was sticking to one stance, too, switching here and there to low or high to see, if I can get an advantage for a (for me) difficult boss or boss-like enemy. I, too, uploaded my content to TH-cam. After a while, some viewers complained that I was doing the same again and again during combat. So I tried to change stanced, doing fancy combos and so on. But the game taught me that either the enemies are too weak so that switching stances was doing nothing special. Or enemies are so tough, that the combat (at least for me) consisted of getting one or two quick hits in before the enemy can get his/her attacks in. During those fights I did just not see any possibility for fancy combos or something else aside from going into the fight with low stance because that allowing to get quicker away from the enemy compared to high or middle stance. Bottom line: I really don't want do discredit your comment. I am just curious about how to get away from the monotonous playstyle that DSP shows and I got used to, because I saw very few very beneficial aspects. PS.: I am sorry for my bad English, but I can't do better :/
“I wish Elden Ring was as smooth as Nioh, you can clearly see the input delay as I tap circle” - DSP, 2022. DSP also while playing Nioh, “I was clearly dodging and the guy just stood there doooood.”
I periodically come back and watch this absolute masterclass of a shit show to remind myself I’m actually not that bad at Nioh 1&2 I mean, I did see all five difficulty levels across both games. I can’t even fathom DSP on demon wise or nioh difficulty
How much thought does it take to drop into low stance to take out a low crawling enemy? Too much for DSP, apparently. All this stance switching is just gameplay filler and fluff anyway, according to him..
This video is what convinced me to buy Nioh. Been trying out all the weapons, eventually stuck with Odachi/Dual Swords by the time I beat Onryoki. I will admit that the game is very overwhelming at first (tutorial helped with that) and I'm pretty sure I'm leveling up my stats poorly. ...but at least I'm actually using the mechanics of the game.
omg I literally laughed out loud when he popped his guardian spirit then still got killed by 2 random foot soldiers hahahaha I also like how every time an enemy is out of ki he runs away instead of pressing the attack when they are literally unable to defend or fight back. What an idiot.
@@HadesHatredEdge if he could die in the menus he would. This playthrough single handedly shows everything wrong with DSP. probably the worst playthrough he's done and I'm gonna enjoy every ounce of salt from it.
It must be really frustrating though, right? To be a man who gets everything 100% correct 100% of the time only for the universe to continually cheat him out of what he deserves over and over again.
This is especially hilarious because if you watch his Bloodborne playthrough, he continuously bitches about how laggy the input is and how Nioh is superior and how he was so much better at Nioh because there was no delay between button press and action on screen. "It's so much more responsive than Bloodborne!" But here he is, bitching how he "pressed the dodge but the dude didn't dodge". Fucking LOL

And the cherry on top, he rages about the very things his ignorance causes (plus the usual 'hitboxes' 'dropped dodge' etc... (did not use the 'input lag' much though, I'll give him that))

*FINALLY A COMPLETE NIOH TIHYDP* I'VE BEEN WAITING A YEAR FOR THIS. The only other TIHYDP cut out a huge portion of his playthrough. Nioh was my favorite game of 2017, and I enjoy watching TIHYDP of games I've beaten.
Such incompetence being put on display of one of my favorite games. It's so painful. Nioh really isn't that much of a chore to learn, so long as you take the time to master things like Ki pulsing, stance change, and stamina management. The whole basis of the combat is built with those things as a foundation. Everything else can be considered extra that is provided for ease of play and build diversity.
This is probably my favorite TIHYDP overall. The editing alone ensures Phil is nearly tolerable to listen to, but all the other edits (especially the slaps) really keep it entertaining.
I know kappa from japanese lore since I was 8-9 year olds and this guy said kappa come from twitch really??? The more I watch the more I hate myself that keep support twitch(in others channel) to support someone like this guy Sighhhhhhhhhh
If it's any consolation DSP has been violently self-destructing for years. No matter how much support he gets DSP is someone who actively burns bridges and makes decisions that make things worse for himself. Donations, Subscribers, and Patreon can't stop DSP from being DSP, and until he realizes that things aren't going to ever improve for him.
30:20 "A guy showed up out of nowhere; so fucking lame!" Loading screen " A reckless warrior falls to an easy death. Be wary of your surroundings." It's almost like the game is trying to communicate with Phil because of how bad he is.
It's because he refuses to accept that he's wrong. _All_ video games should be programmed to _his_ specific gameplay style, and if they don't the game is garbage.
Thanks for suffering through this for us Pocok, this has become one of my favorite TIHYDPS as a result. Kind of related, here are my tips for keeping your cool when this (or any game really) starts to find your gears. 1. Focus on your progress. How much health did you drop the boss by? Was your time better than your last attempt? Did you get a point closer to your goal than the last time you played? Think about where your accomplishments currently lie and reward yourself for each small step. 2. Disregard the Trolls. Let’s be real, not everyone is going to be willing to help you in your game. Sometimes you’re going to get a raw deal from humans or even NPCs. Whatever the situation, don’t acknowledge the negative behaviour. They are willing to give you nothing, so it’s 100% fair to give them nothing in return. If it’s possible to laugh it off (due to irony or a really seriously good set up or something else) then take that route. 3. Learn from your mistakes. Any possible lesson you can learn when you die/crash/game over whatever it is.think on it and use it to your advantage. It’s rare for a game to be naturally unfair. And they’ll generally give you an opportunity to learn. As your skill increases that margin to learn will shrink, but not go away completely. Just like in your day job and the small errors you learn from in everyday life, you can absolutely learn and turn them to your advantage. No, you can. YOU CAN DO IT! 4. Distract yourself for a short time. If you feel angry or upset, take a short break, play an easier game that you like, watch an upbeat or inspirational video, look at a bunch of images of things you like (I recommend puppies, super fancy foods, pictures with loads of bright primary colours, or some silly memes.) if it’s super dire frustration, try to find a video or article to give you advice on where you currently are in game, try to avoid spoilers. You might learn a new technique or ability to make things easier. Listen to some of your favorite music, or watch a cartoon/anime or a chunk of a show you like. If your an active soul, get some excercise or play a game with yourself. (I personally play Coins) 5. Believe in yourself. This is the easiest and simplest of the steps. Stop, take a few deep breaths, stand and stretch, and tell yourself you absolutely can do it. Because you can. It’s not out of your reach. If you feel you need practice than practice. If you want to try a new strategy, then do it! Use every tool you have at your disposal to help you succeed, and when you achieve your goal (and you will) don’t forget to congratulate yourself. You did it with your own skill. And that’s something to be proud of! You absolute champion you! THINGS TO AVOID WHEN YOU ARE UPSET Getting angry just makes things worse. Rage has a habit of escalating. And it’s entirely possible you might break something or hurt yourself, just wind down dude. You can do it. A break won’t kill you. It might even help. When your anger is gone, pick up and play again. Don’t resort to eating food as a decellerant. It will just make things way worse. Drink water, it’s better for you, and won’t go to your ass. Work it into your routine. If you fail, have a long draught. If you succeed, have a short sip. Yes, water. Not soda. Water dood. Save the eating for your mealtimes. Don’t Attack your surroundings. Frustration can build until you want to punch something/bite controllers, or worse, put down anything you can potentially damage, count to three, then inhale, count to three than exhale. Repeat until you feel better. Don’t be afraid to blame yourself for failure. It can help you to learn from your mistakes, and take in a better assessment of your result. Judge what went wrong and how you can avoid it, then move towards your inexorable success. As a side note don’t forget to congratulate yourself when you succeed. You are in control of the game dood, not vice versa. That’s all I got. Hopefully this advice can help you but don’t be afraid to do things at your own pace. My techniques may not work as well for you, but hopefully they can serve as the building stone for your own techniques. Stay healthy and salt free my doods.

He did the same with Dark souls during his Nioh run
Is a tsundere boy
Whenever he opens his mouth is to make himself look good, either by bragging about something or trying to make himself look humble and a nice person, but his memory is shorter than of a fish, and because he's lazy to even try keeping track of all his lies, so he doesn't realize how often he contradicts himself

Same with Bloodborne
My God... This guy willingly records himself acting like this.
The more I think about it, the more I think his gaming style is all an act. How could anyone be this bad at a game? I am thinking Dark Side Phil is a comedy act. As a youtuber he is playing the role of the gamer all gamers love to mock.
@@duffysullivan2794
It's fun to want to believe no one could be this dumb or this bad, especially at every game he ever plays. But it's naive. I suggest you watch a Down the Rabbit Hole video about DSP and you'll see it's not an act at all.
Or don't. Keep some of that wishful optimism.
@@duffysullivan2794 Can't be. The guy doxxed his own fiance's personal life and still doesn't understand why that was wrong.
This game is probably one of my favorites of all time and it makes me so happy it beat the ever living shit out of Phil.
@FatalPies he gets the deaths but the salt in this was so great. He at least went through all the dlc for dark souls and even bloodborne eventually. He ran from the other dlc of this game like a bitch cause he knew he wouldn't be able to take it.

@@FireStarterCroatia I gotta check out his DLC run. I was watching his Bloodborne run and he honestly didn't play as cringeworthy as I thought. I think he even did a 2nd playthrough with a new character. His Sekiro rants are pretty hilarious too. Some points he made I agree with.
@@SparksMentalz Some of his general opinions on Sekiro are valid, but the way he phrases them is just inane as always. I mean just look at him repeatedly not realizing that his posture is broken ("DOOD why didn't it blawk?!"). He always, without fail, bitches so it's no wonder that some of that could be seen as justified. Haven't played NIOH yet and keep catching myself thinking "Yea, that seemed unfair." until I read the comments...
Nice breakdown of info there, looks like I need to buy this asap! Just one game that slipped by me I guess.
Just A hint Of Down syndrome the thing about the second argument is that the game automatically picks the best materials available. You can see that.
So the second argument is pointless unfortunately
@@tomthestone1470 does it? Its been a while since I've played so I don't remember everything 100% I just know whenever I crafted something I basically always got purple or better.
I love how everytime Phil says "there is no way to explain that" it can very easily be explained
What's amazing is that most human beings will learn from their mistakes. Phil is the exception...
There is a saying and it goes as follows:
Smart people learn from mistakes others make.
Most learn from their own mistakes.
Dumb people never learn.
Not doing that again"
*Phil touches an electric fence* - "Huwah?

Mid-stance Spear, default Strong x 3 combo for the entire fucking playthrough.
only the foul Piggy can drain the fun out of anything
even of the mighty NIOH
Its the exact same with god of war. Only Phil can make god of war look boring as fuck
I need him to play Ninja Gaiden Black. The salt from that playthrough would be legendary.

If only these games were better designed, Phil would win and defeat everything 100% of the time and never lose once.
Fucking LOL

I've recently come back to finish this game myself after playing some levels of it a few years ago, I'm at the end of the last DLC even though I guess Philbert never got that far but I've come back to enjoy watching this TIHYDP which is a pretty good demonstration of his classic bugged gameplay comprehension mechanics
- Never tries a different weapon
- Never switches out of mid stance
- Never uses ki pulse
- Doesn't cleanse one fucking yokai realm during the entire game (at 2:15:10 on the last fucking level of the vanilla game he either doesn't realize getting rid of it is an option or doesn't realize he got paralyzed)
- Barely uses living weapon or any ninjutsu/onmyo magic (which is fairly surprising, I'd expect his cheese loving ass to have abused the living fuck out of quick change and sloth talismans)
Also at 2:11:17 he's either talking about Mitsunari, one of the main antagonists of the game who's featured in lots of cutscenes and dialogue, or Tenkai/Mitsuhide who literally had all the relevant stuff about him said during that same cutscene (Nobunaga's vassal who betrayed and killed him) when he says "I have no idea who that is", classic goutbrain memory retention
And the cherry on top, he rages about the very things his ignorance causes (plus the usual 'hitboxes' 'dropped dodge' etc... (did not use the 'input lag' much though, I'll give him that))
And now he's failing at Sekiro but keeps saying how great Nioh was..... Alright Dave, always bending facts so he can talk shit about a current game
He keeps talking how great he did in Nioh did he do redemption run or is this what he wants considers "doing well".
Yeah nioh is a fun game that has no puzzle bosses with 1HKO moves *snort*

(I personally play Coins)
THINGS TO AVOID WHEN YOU ARE UPSET
Getting angry just makes things worse.
Thanks. Great stuff.

Thank you Pocok, i cant imagine the pain of editing this video... you are a truly remarkable person.
"DUHHH I'm DODGIIIIING!" No Phil you are DYING! That is literally all you are doing!
spends playthrough whining, reviews the game and complains that the stances dont matter when hes only used 1 and gimped his damage
I am genuinely angry (just a bit, but still) that there's a possibility his reviews have attracted people who don't know his infamous reputation of being the Worst Gamer out there, who took his review seriously and decided Nioh isn't anywhere near as polished or generally good because of him.
Wow, this guy is the literal definition of a man child! Half way through life, but nothing is ever his fault and still complains like 5 year old boy. Unbelievable!
And he's terrible at pronouncing names The name of the main character from The Witcher is pronounced Jer-ralt not Gur-ralt Also, that guy with the stylish goatee looks nothing like Lu Bu, Phail That's Nobunaga Oda
Uh, not trying to imply that you're Phil
@@jonwootton2181 Hang on,what? Geralt is not pronounced Jer-ralt, it's ger-alt, with a hard "G" It's said like 700 times in game, there's no J sound in it anywhere. Still better than DSP's pronunciation though.
@@MrTurok999 I know In some cases ge and je sound alike and I was going for the version with the j and the e Also, I noticed Philbert can't even say smithing right He pronounced it smything
Sorry for the crappy explanation
Thank you Phil. Revisiting this has inspired me to revisit Nioh and finish what I started, and actually learn how to master the game instead of praying I fail my way through. Also can't believe I missed him thinking Japanese historical figures were Chinese. Ugh.
12:00 is another amazing example of why high stance destroys Oni. a downward slash would hit the horns and stagger. no idea how DSP thought stances done mean shit in this game.
He is just too lazy to push buttons to change stances. Now you might think im just joking but thats probably the truth.
It’s cool that this game is getting a 2nd part, I’m also looking forward to other games as well. I just wonder what Phil will say when he gets Nioh 2 knowing that he never finished the DLC of Nioh.
He rage quit the legendary one eye Dragon Date Masamune kick his damn ass all the way to make them lose his limits to rage quit Nioh
