Loved this song when I first heard it all those years ago and still love it now. Takes me back to my student nurse days in Reading when I used to frequent Oxford a lot too.
A mate down the pub and I put on pretty diverse 70's songs on the Jukebox to test each other's memories of artists. He hit me with this one last night - can't believe I'd forgotten it. Absolute, timeless classic from an era when life was just a little less complicated, but a whole lot more fun.

I'm sure I remember seeing these live at the Colston Hall Bristol in mid 1970s as a support act and I have a feeling it was for a Queen tour. Anybody confirm this?

Hi Jeffrey, hope you are doing fine in these harsh times and since your well-esteemed presence is here :-), may I ask you as a non-native English speaking person, what was your intention to tell the world when you wrote the chorus of this beautiful song, how should I interpret 'Step back inside me' is he to close to demanding or is she aware his one night stand intentions (until tomorrow I am your man )? and what was her (Juliet) intention when she said "Step back inside me and take me to your bed" also just a one night stand or is she unable to resist his calling despite his intended short adventure? and how to interpret "my Juliet and take me home" ? Thank you in advance.
Our intention at that time was to make a hit record.. Now in hindsight It was I guess a very risky song and was banned for a while..my own intention in writing songs has been to write about true lasting love..ONS was not really the inspiration behind song but as I added a lyric from an eddie carter song called "step back inside me if you can" It obviously feels like it. I believe in marriage with 1 partner..so the idea of the words until tommorow etc really was not a good example of my philosophy.. we were young and desirous of fame..we live and learn dont we? it was never done with any real intent to promote promiscuity..also the historical romance of romeo and juliet..hence fall on me make me grow again regular love between regular lover in a relationship
