I was very much like you as well, never understood it, till my one and only failed shiny (I guess that I know of but I don't believe I've ever failed another) I was sos hunting for a shiny Poliwag, it was taking a long time, my brother started talking to me and we were having a conversation. I lost consentration for a second and a shiny appeared, I didn't see it but instinctively clicked an attack and killed it, but just before it died I saw it was shiny and was very annoyed at myself. But I will NEVER understand how people fail shinies by letting them recoil themselves or let them run out of pp. People like that annoy me you have to do a little research on the Pokemon you are shiny hunting for.

I had practiced cathing registeel over and over again until i finally found the shiny, but i was too scared to follow my plan so i just false swiped for like 10 whole minutes
#4 is actually the reason I don't have a shiny in the lead of my party when I shiny hunt. We all have our moments of distraction but you can still hear the shiny animation as well. But if you're hearing a shiny animation at every encounter (namely that of your own pokemon), you stop paying attention to the sound of it

I was there live for Sammy Snow's fail, that Regi was an epic fail and a huge miscalculation. Sammy reclaimed it the very next day, and that encounter was just as intense, nail biting, and epic!
I finally gave up on hunting for shiny Regirock. I’ve been looking since November and I just wanted to move on. Oh well, maybe I’ll try again in my second save file.
There should be a no-fail-shiny charm that will make it so all your moves work as false swipe and if you accidentally run it will do a confirm think like “do you really want to run from this SHINY pokemon”
6:24 tip for pokemon that use recoil damage move, don't attack them, just paralyze/sleep and keep throwing pokeball, use a pokemon with heal pulse to heal the pokemon if necessary.
Fortunately, I’ve technically never lost a shiny. I found a volcarona in an online raid, it escaped, and that’s when I started Masuda hunting larvestas. I have one now, so it technically never got away 😅
I only accountable fail was Shiny Eevee.and I didn’t save. I got it back though. My other fail was Muk, my game got lost on a plane and I never got it back. I reclaimed it though

I can guarantee that my odds are 1/300, but I am getting extremely lucky. Next up, Giratina, Lunala, and Rayquaza!

We ended up defeating it and I tried to catch it but it did only one swirl and went out. I cussed myself out 😭😭😭😭
I feel like people fail early shinies (for example the dude who got the Beldum) because they don't expect to get that lucky and they don't pay attention at the beginning of the hunt.

when trying to catch pokemon in damaging weather conditions (especially if they have a recoil move) i use a magic guard alakazam with skill swap to prevent damage from hail and recoil damage it made it possible for me to catch galarian articuno in a pokeball even when it was hailing, and boy was it close to struggling and fainting, but i caught it in a pokeball in the end

It’s funny how unprepared some people are to catch their shiny finds. I always have Smeargle with false swipe, swords dance, and soak (to change any rock and steel types to make false swipe hit effectively). You’re asking to fail a shiny if you aren’t prepared.
I never understood the logic of when a Pokemon faints they can't be caught. Like,,, shouldn't that make it super easy to catch? Seriously don't get this logic. Any one explain? Besides the developers thought it would be to easy to catch them? Then it should be that easy then.
I reset my shiny verizion In usum. Saw it for a sec and it was gone. (Yes I did reclaim it.) I was around 9000 resets. But now when ever I see someone reset a shiny I just thing. That’s what you get for being stupid. I feel like I have earned the right after resetting an over odds shiny. Then I got it in under 150. Who would of thought my longest hunt would be my shortest
I have failed a bit cressilia crit killed, azelf it wiped my team, sr over 1 3rd one I caught, celesteela I killed 2 times then got it on the 3rd, and last was mime jr i had volume off so didn't hear it and killed it in sos...but given I forgot volume would be why.
And this is part of the reason why I constantly do surprise trades to get random master balls. Why even risk it lol, I know some people want a custom pokeball but why risk it especially trying to catch something in a luxury ball of all things when it's success rate is shit on regular pokemon not to mention legendaries/mythical pokemon
I’m hunting regirock right now 😳 my plan is to nuzzle it then yeet balls at it until it struggles for the first time, then emergency master ball. Ball strategy: quick ball straight off the bat, paralyse it, then 7 dusk balls and timer balls until it catches.
If you guys want to shiny hunt Regirock, it's better to use a pokemon with trick to give it a leppa berry and skill swap harvest, with this it will not run of pp. Regirock only have 30 pp.
I’m convinced the future Pokémon games will now have a bright red screen, confetti and a bunch of shooting stars for 8 seconds to show you found a shiny.
damn rip to them think only 1 i failed was a shiny pheromosa back in ulta sun like i caught it but at the time i found out my charger wasnt charging and the game died when i was on the nickname phase luckly i found it again (two of them xD) and anew charger. the worse ways to fail a shiny is if charger goes and the joy con drift if u got it and u click run accidentally. 😞
I encountered a shiny Minccino the other day when I was doing a nuzlocke run on another profile it also was the first time I encountered it on that save I caught it even thought it wasn't my first encounter to put it on pokemon home and put it on my main profile and when I finished the run I deleted the profile and forgot to put it on home first shiny FAIL xD fbm I'm gonna shiny hunt it on my main to repend
So I did run into shiny Skuntank and ran. Sadly didn't realize till it I said I ran successfully. Wasn't shiny hunting. Just accidentally bumped into him

Rule for finding most shinies: NEVER EVER USE SUPER-EFFECTIVE MOVES WHATSOEVER. If it takes 10 turns to bring it to red zone, so be it

Shiny Regirock seems to be one of the roughest legendaries. I failed a shiny Regirock on my Ultra Sun.
The number 1 guy is why i always bring a harvest trevenant with skill swap and trick holding a leppa berry when i hunt legendaries

I just lost a shiny evee
I hope I don't fail Regidrago as well, I have been hunting it since a month now
damn rip to them think only 1 i failed was a shiny pheromosa back in ulta sun like i caught it but at the time i found out my charger wasnt charging and the game died when i was on the nickname phase luckly i found it again (two of them xD) and anew charger.
the worse ways to fail a shiny is if charger goes and the joy con drift if u got it and u click run accidentally. 😞
I encountered a shiny Minccino the other day when I was doing a nuzlocke run on another profile it also was the first time I encountered it on that save I caught it even thought it wasn't my first encounter to put it on pokemon home and put it on my main profile and when I finished the run I deleted the profile and forgot to put it on home first shiny FAIL xD fbm I'm gonna shiny hunt it on my main to repend
So I did run into shiny Skuntank and ran. Sadly didn't realize till it I said I ran successfully. Wasn't shiny hunting. Just accidentally bumped into him
