- The Raid was action packed filled with awesome fight scenes. How could a movie based all around a building break in be so entertaining?

Mad dog is the physical embodiment of "I can do this all day"
Well definitely watch The Raid 2 after this. The Raid films are one of the, if not, the best action series ever.
Fax no printer
Nah, 1 is great, but part 2 is unnecessary..
this ones great, the sequels tried to have a story and were worse because of it
Exactly! Both of Raid films was absolutely AMAZING. This film is my favorite of the two.
I'll say overall both films are great. First one is better for me. Second just feels really bloated and story didn't feel for me really
If you ever watch The Raid 2, be aware that the director is a huge fan of the martial artist/actor (Yayan Ruhian) who portrayed Mad Dog so he gives him another role in The Raid 2. They try to disguise him with a beard, but you'll pretty much instantly recognize him, so just know, it is indeed a new character and not Mad Dog in disguise after somehow living.
As a teacher (Guru) of Pencak Silat it was nice to finally see Indonesia take the spotlight in the international martial art film scene. It's quite surreal to see people you've had the privilege to train with onscreen. I remember both Iko Uwais (main character) and Yayan Ruhian (Mad Dog) being very kind and humble in person. Back when this movie was originally released it was heavily promoted for Silat practitioners via social media. Almost being a mandatory watch for students of some schools. In my country at least (the Netherlands).
It was nice to see something different like silat being used in a film ❤
Are you Indonesian living in Netherland?
@@ayusaleha4452 I'm not sure what you'd call it in English but in Dutch I'm called "Indisch" or an "Indo"; my grandparents from both sides of the family grew up in Indonesia when it was still a Dutch colony. They emigrated to the Netherlands after WWII, I believe.
This movie gave a big contribution to the actors, Iko (Rama) now in The Expendable 4, Joe Taslim (Jaka) known as Sub-Zero in Mortal Kombat, Kang Yayan (Maddog) appears on John Wick 3 with Kang Cecep (you will know him on The Raid 2) and Om Rei (The Mob Boss) planned on Captain America Civil War but then scrapped
I love this movie sooo much, the choreography & stunts are so realistic as if it actually happened in real life. plus Iko Uwais was perfect in this movie for his martial arts.
You have never been in a fight before. This is obviously choreographed like dancing nothing realistic about it.
It is indeed amazing and Iko became my favorite martial artists after this movie but its really far from realistic. At least the crazy spins and flips, not efficient in a real fight tbh.
@@chaotix7275 good to know
Actually, iko uwais(Rama) and Yayan Ruhian(Mad dog) are the fight choreographers of this film.
@@christianjb2016 i didn't know that until now
This is genuinely one of the greatest action movies of all time! SUCH a timeless classic!
Except for the final fight... It was the most pathetic protagonists I ever seen as they had no shame to fight 2 on 1.
You haven't seen enough protagonist then also there is no shame in life or death situation, the dude enjoys fighting and wanted to fight them both, he asked for it 🙄 it's not like they both just started beating on a harmless kid
@@azazello1784 bro the main character was fighting the whole village almost solo before the final fight, having it 2 vs 1at the end is not that unfair or shameful
OMG I am so glad you reacted to this amazing film. The sequel, The Raid: 2 is everything you want from a movie in terms of camera shots, action scenes and martial arts. It is freaking insane. I am yet to find another movie to take itself as seriously as this one does with the background and scenerio it has. Please do the 2nd film too, it is a cut above this film.
This film was originally made because the director needed money to film the 2nd film. The film he actually wanted to make was the 2nd film, but did this to make up the funds so he could film what he actually wanted. These two films have raised the bar for me.
that button press combo killed me XD
the martial arts in this movie is called "Pencak Silat" or move flawlessly.
and it originates from Indonesia.
I once studied Silat in martial art school located in Bandung when I was 11 years old.
Silat is mostly used for selfe defense only, and my mentor use to say, "don't ever use it to kill".
Firstly, thank you for reacting to this amazing action movie. Really great movie, and great reaction. The Mad Dog fights are one of the BEST martial arts fight scenes Ive ever seen. What a terrifying character! Secondly, you are HILARIOUS. The way your face changed when the bad guy said he'd give them free rent lmao, and when the dude plunged several floors and broke his back on a ledge, 'oh my back really needs that' lmao
This movie came out a little before Dredd 2012, the thing is that Dredd is an EXCELLENT 'contained' action movie, honestly I think you would enjoy it as much as you enjoyed this one. But back in the day, because The Raid came out a little before, Dredd didn't get as much attention and didnt perform as well despite being as good as or arguably better. You would love this movie and I really, REALLY hope you consider reacting to it! Karl Urban is one of the main characters and he is AMAZING as he is in everything he does of course
The actor who plays Jaka, the one you call handsome, plays Sub Zero in the 2022 Mortal Kombat movie, story is so so but the movie is overall good if you consider reacting to it.
Finally, this The Raid is one of the first of a slew of south east asian action movies that came out back then (back then martial arts was mostly chinese and japanese), so this was really refreshing - the other big one was 'Ong Bak' from Thailand, a Muay Thai movie, with BREATHTAKING fight scenes and stunts, again, really really hope you choose to react to that, and the others I mentioned above. Thanks for reading my essay haha, and thanks for another great reaction!
GREAT reaction to a GREAT movie. The Raid movies are absolutely AMAZING to watch.
32:26 LOL Indonesian Hisoka just unlocked some finishing moves. I'm glad your editor recommended this movie, and I'm so happy that this film became popular internationally. Based on your discussion on the end, I think you would really love New World - 신세계. A Korean movie from 2013. It's not a martial arts movie like this one, but it also falls under the cops and robbers genre. The main character is played by Lee Jung-jae, the lead actor from Squid Game. The story is really good.
The language spoken here is Indonesian, and a lot of the local martial arts (silat) are featured. I love it when people discover gems of south-east Asian cinema (few as they may be).
I think you would very much enjoy the work of Tony Jaa as well, Imon. Try Ong-Bak and The Protector for a taste of his talents. He's a fantastic muay thai practitioner 👍
Its been like 12 years since this movie was first released and its still looks as awesome as the first time i've watched it. Pencak silat (The martial art style mainly used in this movie) had never looked this good on screen before. Iko Uwais (Rama/MC actor) and Yayan Ruhian (Mad Dog) were responsible of making the choreography for the whole movie. They both are legit talented martial artists, You could say the same thing for like the rest of the casts in this film since 80% of them were build of skilled fighters and stuntmants. The plot is simple but its really effective for this kind of movie. Like you already know how the story would go and end up but its still entertaining to see it goes on. Btw if you really loved this movie id suggest you to check The Raid 2 immediatly. Its an awesome sequel to this film that somehow managed to get even better than its prequel. They have every single thing that makes the first film awesome and took it up to a whole new level
Plus Yayan (Mad Dog) have also trained all President's bodyguards in basic movements of silat
Imon!!! So stoked you checked this one out! It has some of the greatest action sequences in all of film and is just a dope movie! Always happy to see you doing well! Wishing you nothing but health, happiness, and continued success. Much love from your pal in Texas! 🤘
The martial art that they were using is called SILLAT from Indonesia
I love how it's protocol for comments to suggest Raid 2 next after every Raid reaction, and for good reason too
Edit: The handsome man is Joe Taslim, and he's an equally awesome fighter too. In the somehow-even-more-brutal movie The Night Comes For Us, he's the protagonist there against Iko Uwais, the protagonist in this movie.
It's been said already, but I'll reiterate: as good as this movie is, Part 2 blows it out of the water. Check it out. Great reaction, as ever! ❤
The sergeant is actually played by Joe Taslim which also playing Sub Zero in the new Mortal Kombat movie.
One of my all time favorite Martial arts movie. Glad you watched this.
We need more reactions to foreign film. Thank you Imon_Snow for giving it attention.
Yesssss!!! Thank you for reacting to this amazingly film!! Loved it and love your reaction my dear. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
The Raid 2 and The Night Comes for Us are a must watch
"Its always young men doing old mens bidding" - instant like on the video.
The guy who plays the main sarge in this played Sub Zero in the Mortal Kombat movie
Yayan Ruhian is a god. he did choreography for this movie, and was still such a pencak silat beast that he mashed it out through multiple great action scenes, including against the brothers in the 2v1. so good.
I actually like the raid 2 more than the first. Which is saying a lot
You did Muay Thai? That’s so awesome! More respect for you! Where did you train? The characters, actors in the film practice Penchak Silat
"Pencak Silat" is a martial art from Indonesia, "Pencak silat" is a real martial art to defend when we feel threatened, but when we feel that the opponent is strong, then "Pencak Silat" can turn out to be dangerous for the opponent.
The movie Dredd was released around the same time as this. Similar premise but still very fun.
Incredible Movie & Energized Reaction Imon!
Part 2 is even better, unbelievably.
It’s the greatest action movie of all time, imo
45:35 FYI: Yayan Ruhian (Mad Dog) is a martial arts teacher originally from Indonesia (Silat). Silat is the deadliest martial art in the world. Yayan Ruhian even trains special forces for the Indonesian army.
Thanks for reaction ❤
Great reaction and commentary
The name of the Martial art is called Pencak Silat it's the traditional martial arts of Indonesia. Hey Imon I bet if you took this with muyi tai, and a few other martial arts together you could be a kickass hell I'll watch an action movie with you in it.
The movie is from Indonesia and they use a martial art called Silat.
Definitely need to do the sequel The Raid 2: Berandal, and The Night Comes For Us (2018) also has some of the same casts, but with different director that has more slasher horror style.
Fun Fact: the human body can go far beyond what you think you're capable of. the human body has a built in limiter so we don't self destruct. in dire situations the brain turns off this limiter making the body able to do super human things to insure survival at the expense of bodily injury. i.e. you can lift a car but you just separated several muscles and tendons from bone.
I watch this when it came out along with part Two lots of action and violence entertaining awesome stunts good choice to watch
Your question @26:40... the martial art they used is called "SILAT", practiced by the people of of Indonesia (the origin of this movie), Malaysia & Brunei, particularly the malays.
PLEASE......WATCH PART 2! The final fight blows this one away, you won't regret it!
been awhile since the last time I watch your attack on titan reaction, love your reaction, much love!
Puts American action to shame. Love this film!
Please right away continue to The Raid 2
Yeah like people are saying raid 2 is a must as well.
The raid 1 is awesome and has some of the best fight scenes ever. The raid 2 has a way higher budget and makes raid 1 look stupid.
The movie you're thinking about is The Protector with Tony Ja.
He's chasing after the people who stole his elephant.
Hope you watch Raid 2. It's bigger budget, bigger scope but just as good.
and all the actors are background masters of silat martial art from Indonesia
one word...The Raid 2...thats all you need
I havven't seen this channel ever since Winter/Falcon and the very sad breakup... anyways, her hair looks amazing!
Also: hell yeah The Raid. She should do DREDD next!
The martial arts called SILAT (Pencak silat) from Indonesia. You must check THE RAID 2 🔥
I LOVE THIS MOVIE!! U MUST WATCH MORE
Now u kno wat u gonna do next..
YESS! THE RAID 2
This movie is amazing love the video imon Nation stay motivated dream big 1 mill on the way the Raid 2 is good also
Now check out the sequel it's bigger it's better and like this will have you on the edge of your set.
Wow Nice Reaction Sister ❤🎉
As an Indonesian The Raid and The Raid 2 definitely put our country on the map. Thanks to the amazing work by Gareth Evans, Iko Uwais, Yayan Ruhian, and the team it has given a breath of fresh air to Indonesian cinema. Showing that we can be on par with the likes of Hong Kong action films and Hollywood blockbusters when it comes to action packed flicks.
Will wait with great anticipation for your The Raid 2 Reaction. Thank you so much for reacting to this movie!
@24:00 -- "actually i need that" is a take i haven't heard before
The handsome police officer (Joe Taslim) is subzero in the new mortal kombat movie
So much violence in this movie, it looks like a Thursday afternoon in LA. o_O
Speaking of the handsome Joe Taslim, Warrior season 3 is gonna premier in a few weeks and now would be a good time to react to the rest of the series.
Hi from Indonesia, ....Take the Raid 2, for more depht story line ( the conclusion of croocked cop story- Reza ), and more good quality fighting scene. Nice reaction...👍 oh , there are using "Pencak Silat-Indonesian martial art" for fight choreography. The Protagonist "Rama-Iko Uwais" and the villain "Mad dog- Yayan Ruhian" was Pencat Silat Artist, we called it "Pendekar". Meanwhile the "Sarge-Joe Taslim" was National Judo champ.
New sub 😊
The Martial art its call "pencak silat"originally from indonesia sis🙏🙏🙏🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩
28:24 he is indeed!!!!😂❤
I think the bone breaking scene You're referring to is from The Protector
I just learned that the reference of Raid 2 appear in Jujutsu No Kaisen and Chainsaw Man
The Raid 2 will be your next exhausting movie, dear. And fyi The Martial Arts which used in this movie is 'Pencak Silat', Indonesian Martial Arts. Korea has Taekwondo, Japan has Karate, China has Kungfu, Thailand has Muay Thai, and Indonesia has Pencak Silat
That martial art its called "Pencak (Pentjak) Silat... I subscribed. Its actually Indonesian and not Thais. That starring is actually a Pencak Silat master and the guy that got killed with the licht bulb is also a master in Indonesia
The letnan is joe taslim(who play in mortal combat as zubzero
The Martial art is called Pencak Silat.
That is pencak silat, the martial art from Indonesia 😉🙏🏽
you should and have to watch THE RAID 2.
Most medical personnel present on a movie set, just to film this
Crazy movie!
You should watch the Raid 2 I'll be waiting for it
if you liked that one, you will like "Ong Bak". its full of great muay thai choreography and great artists
Nice
It’s called PENCAK SILAT. Indonesian🇮🇩 traditional martial art.
This movie has some great martial arts and stunt work within it. And if that's all that you are looking for it is worth the watch. But as a whole, I was underwhelmed by this, and even more by it's sequel.
I'm in the minority in that.
The Indonesian signature martial art called Pencak Silat
Your talking about Ong Bak where bones getting break
Obviously Raid 2 will be next but I also suggest another martial arts movie from the same country called Chocolat free on TH-cam. An Autistic girl that learns fighting by watching a martial arts school next door. She has to save her Mother from gangsters the Mother used to work for.
Its silat sweetheart
If you haven't seen Dredd, watch it now. It's the same plot. Which do you like better?
WELCOME TO ART OF "PENCAK SILAT"
INDONESIAN MARTIAL ART 😁😁
Mad Dog & Rama is the Real Pencak Silat Grand Master in indonesia 🙏😊
it's not muaythai but traditional silat material art from indonesia
if you ever been to a street fight or see it real close, this is as close to a real street fight as the cinema ever achieved.
SILAT!🤙
The machete vs cheek scene is the worst thing that I have ever seen in a movie. I hate thinking about how it slowly sliding off would feel.
Were you thinking of the South Korean movie "Old Boy" ?
"I would be biting...Bite him! Grab his..." 🍆
🤣🤣🤣
You are too cute Imon. Cute and vicious!
Mantap
Matrial art name ia silat
The most manliest movie ever made.
next the Raid 2
❤
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Do you know there is also an Indian movie named "Raid" starring RRR co-star Ajay Devgn.
Go for raid frikking second installment
