Stavros is really showing his insecurities by dissing Matt's joke telling and then commenting on his looks then dublin down on his criticism of Matt's comedy.
Yeah Stavros is obviously just being critical, it's not a good look... I don't even think Matt's *that* good, but Stavros is rather painfully unfunny himself, so, clearly he's upset that someone else might be actually successfully manipulating their audience
I don’t care if you think he’s funny or not. No comedian should be canceled for telling jokes it’s their job. He didn’t assault anybody or hurt anybody. He only offended people who had so much free time that they could listen to a comedy special.
I think what really rubbed people the wrong way is that he got popular off of catering to his largely female demographic - and then does C- material on domestic violence and star signs. He’s a guy who got famous for doing crowd work and flirting with his audience, and his actual material is hacky and weak. He seems bitter that he pretty much only has female fans, when in reality he’d still be a feature act without them.
Exactly this! He is complaining his audience cant take a joke. But he built his career flirting jokingly with his female audience. That was his 'comedy'. He pulled a 180 on them and is surprised his audience didnt like it. Dude did it himself
@hilderenshof2476 But that's on the audience, not him. He's a comedian. Everything he says could be potentially offensive to someone...how is he supposed to navigate that?
Its funny how we see what we want to see. He knew what thr effect of the joke would be. He announced it for God's sake. He knows how the internet works. He's got everybody talking about him.
Yeah regardless if they like it or not. The link was a good call too. I think I have to agree he is carving his actual long term audience out of it. I'm not his biggest fan but he is def funny to many and skilled and put in the time. Deserves just as much defense and grace as anyone else.
They can't get past the jealousy. Even though Matt's been doing comedy for nearly 13 years, he's still really young. These guys have been doing it just as long but are almost ready to retire and will never have his fame or looks
Other comedians aren't going to defend him if they think he isn't funny, especially since his fame and popularity have come out of nowhere. There's a long history of "earning it" and "putting in your time" among comedians, and people who get famous without having a good act are often scorned by other comics. It has nothing to do with being "offensive."
Wolf said it best, we've all laughed at jokes we wouldn't say in public. In the interview with Jordan Peterson Rife was cool as hell. Haters gonna hate, they still have the choice to change the channel.
This was blown way out of proportion. Andrew's take on Patreon was right. There are people who don't like him, a bunch of comedians that are jealous of his massive blow-up (Stavros), and people who want to jump in on the hate train for clicks. These people who are crying were waiting for an opportunity to attack without looking like haters
Lol stav is a lot more popular the Matt right now, why would he hate on him? You do realize commedy is subjective and what you migh think is fall down funnny lots of other people wouldn't dind it funny at all. Doesn't make them a hater, they just have different taste.
@@thisfool89 i get where he is coming from tho. You should too if you were a CT fan. Stav takes weird opportunities to morally grandstand on some of these more touchy subjects and his whole take on this is just bad considering he was a laugh track for Nick's jokes which were just as offensive. I do agree that Stav is way more popular than Matt and yes comedy is subjective, however i don't think he is genuine in his criticism. Stav is a degenerate and thinks by taking the "correct" stance on certain issues he can humanize himself a little.
@dolphdangles1322 Honestly, i dont follow any comedians off stage. So i have no idea what stav says about anything nore Do i have any idea what anyone else feels about Matt. All i know is when in this video Stav said you can joke about anything if the joke is funny which is 100% true, and i have been aware of Matt for a little while now and i personally dont find him funny at all. his jokes are not very good at all, so i can totally see how a regual who doesn't know who Matt is would be offended by his jokes. Imagine taking Andrew Dice Clay and try to put him on netflix today in 2023..... it would be the most disastrous thing to ever happen. Just because something is shocking doesn't mean it's funny, and honestly, you sound like you just dont like Stav, so you are using his pretty accurate accesment of this situation to take a shot at him. And just to be honest, the more of Stav in podcast, the less im liking him too.
Interesting Stav noting it was his opening joke. I think the greatest and riskiest opening ever was Louis’s Fword Nword Cword bit, which was razor sharp. My main gripe with Rife is he’s not stealing but he’s got big so fast he still seems like an amalgamation of his influences.
So true. And other comics don't like him because he took short cuts in his career. They don't take him seriously because he got big without "putting in the work."
The whole crowd laughed when all he said was that she had a black eye. Nothing else. The whole crowd should have cancelled themselves before he even got to the punch line
You know that the people who kicked off only ever saw him flirting in tiktok clips and thought that was his entire act without looking at any of his other stuff.
0:26 Yes Matt, glad you could discover that little aspect of comedy. It's obvious that he tried to piss off his audience so he could get the "cool comedy" audience, but the fact he picked the most tired cliche joke possible to do it is telling. A trick to comedy is being ahead of the audience and the fact everyone knew where he was going at word one doesn't speak well to his actual comedic skills.
A lot of jealous comics. So Matt Rife is treating his Specials like Albums and bringing a different style of joke to each one. How come people don't get this basic concept?
Yeah he's never been funny I'm not sucking Rifes dick either he's aight. But stavros has his laugh and thats really it, talking about having a funnier opener as if he could do better lmao
Stavros commenting like he has any sort of clue or handle on being an almighty comedy guru and what is or isn’t “comedy” is so dumb and just comes off as being jealous
Matt is interesting because he tried to make his comedy a surprise by not revealing it. He did crowd work to get attention and PR. He did very well, but a lot of the audience then thought his comedy was going to be interactive crowd work and not a usual bit. They didn't know what they were signing up for since he didn't present it that way. He'd have a lot more hecklers since they think it's interactive.
His act is a strange one. Or at least the multitude of clips I’ve seen online. It’s not exactly standup. It’s a man using his looks, charisma, and wit to basically win over teenage/young girls in his audience. He is displaying EXACTLY the traits that attract women, and it’s basically him in a public forum, in front of a group of women, displaying his personality to the women admirers of the room. This is strange. People are weird.
A bunch of nobodies, or guys stuck in mediocrity talking shit because they’re jealous. Jealous comedians are always all too eager to show how jealous and scummy they are.

Someone called it the "hitler youth set from wish" and now itll stay with me forever
Seriously. Who does he think he looks attractive to? Name one dude that looks like hitler that just kills with the ladies.
Matt isn’t that funny but his response to those offended was hilarious
Hes not funny and his "response" is horseshit because literally nobody complained! Please enlighten me on who canceled him. I will wait...
A bunch of online rags wrote articles.
@@menwithven8114 lol, you could literally just google his name and find all the hate.
The woman who used her kid is gross. I saw it and was appauled that it got the attention it did. She is exploiting her autistic child, grossly.
Also it makes no sense. Rife clearly isn't sending it to the kid. It's a joke at the mom
Matt Rife's looks have helped him have a bigger fan base but also brought unwarranted hate from jealous guys. He is funny.
You are even funnier with that comment.😂😂😂😂
You found one with the 1st reply. Are you a fisherman? 😂
Stavros is really showing his insecurities by dissing Matt's joke telling and then commenting on his looks then dublin down on his criticism of Matt's comedy.
Stavros is looking for attention
You could say Matt made a 'Natural Selection' of his fans!!
Stavros almost sounds a little jelly 😂
Because he's not even as funny as Rife. So overrated!
@hilderenshof2476
But that's on the audience, not him. He's a comedian.
Everything he says could be potentially offensive to someone...how is he supposed to navigate that?
He's funnier than Brendan Schaub.
Your probably funnier than Brendan schaub
Getting cancelled for a throw away joke like that is insane
Its funny how we see what we want to see. He knew what thr effect of the joke would be. He announced it for God's sake. He knows how the internet works. He's got everybody talking about him.
Wow. Other comedians should be sticking up for him.
Yeah regardless if they like it or not. The link was a good call too. I think I have to agree he is carving his actual long term audience out of it. I'm not his biggest fan but he is def funny to many and skilled and put in the time. Deserves just as much defense and grace as anyone else.
They know the story you idiots don’t know… it’s like when nobody likes the bosses kid
They can't get past the jealousy. Even though Matt's been doing comedy for nearly 13 years, he's still really young. These guys have been doing it just as long but are almost ready to retire and will never have his fame or looks
@@evelynwashere13 lol smh
Other comedians aren't going to defend him if they think he isn't funny, especially since his fame and popularity have come out of nowhere. There's a long history of "earning it" and "putting in your time" among comedians, and people who get famous without having a good act are often scorned by other comics. It has nothing to do with being "offensive."
First time hearing the joke. I laughed.
He’s allowed to make those jokes and his fans are allowed to think he’s a tool now.
Now?
Still waiting on Shulz's haircut to get blended in....drives me nuts!
Doesn't make them a hater, they just have different taste.
i swear i saw nothing but support for Matt until he started blowing up around June/July and then overnight he became hated
@@dolphdangles1322 read into it deeper man. A great use of your time 🤦♂️🤡
@dolphdangles1322 Honestly, i dont follow any comedians off stage.
These comedians are just mad how popular he is. Matt Rife is hilarious
Dude it’s hilarious seeing male comics not defend Matt. I feel like a lot of these comics are jealous.
Maron doesn't count as a guy.. He's about as manly as Ethan 😀
Definitely. I felt that from stavros subtly putting down his punchlines
Women have got to learn to cook to prevent situations like this.
I love how grown men are pretending to be offended by him just to impress Rebecca. 😅

You can tell Stavros is pissed that Matt is famous, he knows Matt is in the right but still has to not be on his side.
0:35 Irony yes, but it’s also a bit of absurdism, the contrast between reality and stated position etc is the joke
I miss the 90's
LEAVE MATTY ALONE!!!
That joke wasn’t actually that bad
The whole crowd laughed when all he said was that she had a black eye. Nothing else. The whole crowd should have cancelled themselves before he even got to the punch line
Stavros calling out Rife for not being funny is ironic🤣🤣🤣
Stav knows he was a laugh track on CT all those years. That's why he's an opportunist that will say anything to boost his likeability.
Or pick any song put the word penis in it....comedy gold
Flagrant is the male version of the view
Male? More like the femboy version of the View.
Great take will still watch
Matt's response with link to helmet made me like him
I'm glad that most of other comedians were not upset about it. It is controvrersial. But it is true
I just realized Sam Morril sounds like Jim Florentine doing a Elmer Fudd impression
LOL that's perfect 😂
You know that the people who kicked off only ever saw him flirting in tiktok clips and thought that was his entire act without looking at any of his other stuff.
Stavros' take is what I think exactly, if you're gonna go for that you gotta make the joke good enough to get away with saying shit like that
Sure it's not a great joke but nothing to be cancelled over
Stavros sounds a bit jealous. Considering his jokes are just as Mid as Matts

Remember any bs tepid response from other comics when the target swings their way.
if that was offensive people would shit themselves at fire in the maternity ward - top 5 special for me

Yes Matt, glad you could discover that little aspect of comedy.

Now I want to sign up for Netflix just to see this show……Good marketing from Netflix
Couldnt get past stavros analysis of what a good joke is. His laugh is funny, beyond that, not much going on at all. Im sure Rife is funnier
Yeah I’m not a Rife fan but Stavros isn’t that funny imo and he seems like he tries to sound smart but isn’t lol
Yeah he's never been funny I'm not sucking Rifes dick either he's aight. But stavros has his laugh and thats really it, talking about having a funnier opener as if he could do better lmao
He’s funny and people are just too damn sensitive today. Skin is getting thinner and thinner.
Stavros commenting like he has any sort of clue or handle on being an almighty comedy guru and what is or isn’t “comedy” is so dumb and just comes off as being jealous
I hear alot of hate from these guys. Especially Stavi. Not all of them, but yeah....
Just stfu enjoy the joke for what it is and move on
Matt is interesting because he tried to make his comedy a surprise by not revealing it. He did crowd work to get attention and PR. He did very well, but a lot of the audience then thought his comedy was going to be interactive crowd work and not a usual bit. They didn't know what they were signing up for since he didn't present it that way. He'd have a lot more hecklers since they think it's interactive.
Many Women ive been around, have laughed at domestic violence jokes! Cuz they know they're jokes.

Matt rules . And I feel like this was a good thing for him for long term comedian cred
A bunch of nobodies, or guys stuck in mediocrity talking shit because they’re jealous. Jealous comedians are always all too eager to show how jealous and scummy they are.
I can't believe he thought going on Jordan Peterson was a good idea
Peterson is magnet for fatherless millennials
Can't agree to the HOME RUN argument...Dave Chapelle had one of the hardest hitting home runs in his last specials....still got flack from the same groups. Some people just want to see themselves as relevant, nothing new, punching up to the New Big Thing
Never seen so many hackey comedians in one place.
Have any of his fans actually left? Chris Brown still has loads of women fans
Some people need to get over it kids funny af its jokes relax. Like why isnt every type of person, race. Belief, sex type etc getting mad at every joke? I mean he doesnt discriminate he jokes about everything and everybody. So how about a certain group of yall relax.
Just go back in the 90s and early 2000s its ok lol. We can stop being so sensitive hes a comedian like relax.
What's ironic is yall seem to be offended by some just not liking his jokes. It's not that complicated. He told a dumb joke, doubled down, and ran to Peterson acting like a victim. It's pathetic.
most of his "fans" was just girls coming because he's hot, he said on one of the podcasts, that girls would bring their bf with them and the bfs mostly started hating him but after his set they become his fans while the girls just turn completely

personally i think he's got potential but as of now he's still mid to me compared to the plethora of other new talents comedy has to offer. whether you want to admit it or not though, he clearly gets hellaaa extra hate because it's not only from his snowflake gen Z fanbase, but also his peers in the industry because it's rare to see a handsome dude doing well in comedy lol and that's just facts. even in this video theres two guys ready to hop on the hate train and you can tell tim's tryna back him up. i've also seen on one of theo's pod when he had tom segura on discussing matt rife and it seemed like he was tryna bait tom into trolling matt but tom didn't bite. overall i think matt's a net positive for comedy but just like a rookie you gotta give it time.
Absolutely! He had some clip go viral on Tiktok and next thing he knows he's doing arenas from coast to coast! He knows he's not necessarily ready for that level but WTH do people expect him to do??
