      but I think a huge plus for rainbows vs reef is rainbows offer a life guarantee against manufacturers defect while reefs only offers a year, rainbows only sell flip flops with just a few shoes that all use the same basic sole design. When they say lifetime they mean it, I had a friend send in his flops after 2 years of ownership when the leather portion started separating from the foam, he called them sent them in and they repaired them. I have not had any problems with mine, I just bought a new pair that came in today after my old ones finally wore through, so I’ll post an update if I have any problems.

    Just got introduced to Rainbows last year. My only pet peeves (at first) were that they were painful to walk on in the beginning and I didn't like how my feet stained the flip flops so quickly which made it look like my feet were that gross to leave a huge stain all over it. Now, they're comfortable to wear and I can see why they're a lot of money (luckily, I got mine for $25 on clearance!)

    My double layers (302) are 13 years as of 2020 ! Purchased them back while in college. They're in much worst shape than yours but function perfectly fine (I live in FL... been everywhere I go). The cracks in the leather don't bother me... I think it'll happen regardless with enough time... I just purchased a set of replacement 302's and single layers for daily wear... the old ones will still in my two vehicles as backup :-) My single layers I'm replacing are 6.5 years old.

    • @VaughnJogVlog

      athletejmv I thought I’d baby my new pair but they’ve cracked on the surface. Perhaps my feet’s has been to sweaty in them, either way, can’t feel the cracks and the sandals are so comfortable I frequently forget I’m wearing them.

    • @athletejmv
      @athletejmv 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      VaughnJogVlog my cracks took 3-4 years to start setting in... started out as wrinkles... the cracks are more superficial than anything though... at the surface... not all the way through the leather. I’m tempted to try the versions with the rubber tops for rainy days and being out on the water, etc.

      Hello Athletejmv I have a question man? I keep hearing there is a break-in point for these flip flop. I hearing it very uncomfortable and tight on the foot. I have big very very wide feet sz15 6 EEEEEE with very fat wide toe. My foot is 6 1/2 inches wide from my big toe to my lil toe with all of my toes equally straight across. Do you think these will fit well on my foot. I have to do a lot of things barefooted 👣 because there's no shoe or sock that wide enough that will fit my foot because of it being so wide.

    • @VaughnJogVlog
      @VaughnJogVlog  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could have trouble finding these in a wide enough size, but I think Rainbow sandals feel best brand new. They’re so soft, but grow tougher over time.

      @@VaughnJogVlog okay I would like to get me a pair. There are some flip flops and sandals that I cannot fit into because of my wide feet. I'm trying to see if these will fit and all the stores I've been to they haven't had a larger selection. But seeing people wearing them they look real cool and comfortable. There's no shoe or sock that's wide enough to fit my foot and my flip-flops have held up for 4 years now with everyday wear all 365 days of the year. I have to admit though the footbed shows a nice very fat wide 4 toe footprint on the foot bed though. both of my pinky toes hang off the footbed of the flip flops but don't touch the ground when I walk which is a good thing. that's why there's only a four toe footprints on the foot bed.

Someone told me that leather sandals the footbed may show a footprint but you would never tell when the footbed is worn out. I have the Reef with the bottle openers on the bottom of them and in one month I had a very fat wide 4 toe footprint on the footbed of the flip-flops. Both of my lil toes hanging off the footbed so that's why there's only four footprint on the footbed. And i bought these flip-flops brand new. I'm not a very fat guy I just got very very wide feet with very fat toes for some reason. So I don't know why the footbed worn out so fast.

      @@mackjenkins7721 Yes, they are. They also have rubber, hemp and foam options (avoid the foam ones; they're garbage!) Yes, the downfall with these sandals is that the leather ones do stain with your foot imprint, but you won't really notice it when you have them on anyways. They're also painful to wear the first couple of weeks as they're stiff at first, but then get really soft and comfortable to walk on. These pet peeves are minor to me now because I love wearing them now! Not sure if they have wide options though. I don't have wide feet and they fit almost perfect.

    • @mackjenkins7721
      @mackjenkins7721 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mida8261 oh okay I didn't know that I would definitely stay away from the foam. Do these will put a stain foot imprint on the footbed. I don't mind a stain foot imprint on the footbed just long as it does not wear out that is to be expected if you are wear them. I'm just not happy about my Reef flip flops wearing out that fast. In 1 month's time. The bottom of the sandals still look brand new but on the top where my toes are the footbed is worn down so smooth. I would expect this a year later since I have to wear flip-flops every single day the whole entire year. Oh They'll be a little painful until they break in ok. I got to see if I can get them to fit on my feet. My reef I can barely get them to fit on my foot because my foot is wider than the flip flop straps. My foot is 6 1/2 inches wide from my big toe to my little toe which is extremely wide foot. That's good that you do not have a wide foot man. Having extremely wide foot causes so much issues. Just yesterday I was in a Walmart store and it man was walking by song my foot and said oh we have water fluid problems in the foot. I said no this is the normal size. The man said you got to be kidding. I said no sir I'm not kidding. I have never seen a foot that wide and Toes that big before he then asked how I was my foot. I laughed and then said it's 6 1/2 inches wide. He then asked how do I find shoes to wear. I had to tell him I cannot find shoes , socks , or boot that's wide enough for my foot. The only Footwear that will fit me is flip-flops or be barefooted 👣. The man was shocked he cannot believe it. It was a little embarrassing but I can see how he mistake my foot for having water fluid in them. I have had people take pictures of my foot being in flip-flops because my lil toes hanging off the footbed the flip flops. I even had my foot stuck inside a brand new sit inside kayak barefooted 👣 and the store almost called 911 to have them to come and cut my foot out of the kayak. You want to talk about an embarrassing time. All the salesmen in the store said they have never seen a foot that extremely wide with very fat wide toes. One of the salesmen was wearing flip-flops and he had wide feet and my foot still was wide than his foot. I appreciate you sharing this information with me man. I didn't know this and it's really helpful thank you so much.

      Rainbow sandals can handle some water I had a pair for about 8 years they constantly got wet when I go down to the beach every week! I didnt stand in the the water with them and fully submerge then but they got quite wet when I would get out and put them back on. Im not sure why you would want to submerge them completely anyways. I did have the issue where some of the die from the leather got on my feet when I first got them but nothing serious and it eventually stopped. Just try not to fully submerge them very often and they hold up great! I could have gone probably another 4 years with those sandals but I lost them awhile back. My second pair is breaking in nice!

    Don’t know why this was recommended to me but I have to say I have a pair of 14 year old Birkenstock sandals that are still holding up fine, a little bit of the glue at the side (where the straps are)came loose at one point but I reglued it and it’s ok again. They would still have worked just fine without regluing as the strap was still firmly stuck inside the sole/footbed, just not attached to the side part of the footbed anymore. I think I will get at least another 2 summers out of them before they need replacing. Maybe longer. They did cost a fair bit at the time (about £50) but considering they have lasted so long I have saved a lot of money in the long run.
