The reason why people don't do that is because it's hard. Let's be honest, Ian has no clue who did it.
There are many options, like a scientist or a being in outer space. However, both are bad. The scientist one doesn't work, obviously. And you have to be careful with gods, because it can destroy world building and power scaling.

- wasn't the year 3000
-in charlotte they literially called it an illness(puberty sindrom i think)
--only kid's teenagers- well people in puberty could get the puberty sindrom or whatever they called it
-the didn't choose only 100 people
It's was kinda randoom i guess there wasn't any chooser or anything that "send the comet"
- there wasn't really any problem with the technology
-the comet didn't wipe out the whole fucking technology
(My theory) From what ian stated from "who sent the comet" gives me enough information to know that the comet wasent natural because if technology was that advanced they would know when a comet would arrive, but they didnt so the comet was planned and sent to the planet. And the radiation or energy from the comet gave the 100 people supernatural powers erasing all technology in the process.
Btw if technology was advanced too far why didnt they go to a different planet?
