This old man lived those years, and I can say that every time these guys released an album, there would be a new number one each week until almost all the songs were used.
Then next year, they'd do it again. For years. - at the same time as Queen and Pink Floyd. Geniuses.
ELO is a deep rabbit hole to fall into. They were mega hit makers in the mid 1970s to early 1980s. They have more songs you’ve heard that you didn’t know were by them. Next to react to s the long version of Mr. Blue Sky, a song you’ll definitely recognize.

Just wanted to let you know it wasn't a big surfing song. Back in my day, it was a big roller skating song. It was always played at roller skating rinks, when I was a teenager, and I am mid 50s now! I believe they played it in the movie Xanadu w Gene Kelly and Olivia Newton John. FYI: I love you guys, keep up what you're doing😊

You have probably heard many of their songs as they are used frequently in movies, commercials, sports intros, supermarket restrooms, etc. Sweet Talking Woman and Do Ya are two of my favorites, and if you are feeling up to it, listen to the entire Concerto for a Rainy Day.

Jeff Lynne has explained that he is singing a made-up word, "Grooss", which some have suggested sounds like the German expression "Gruß," meaning "greeting." Lynne has explained that originally he did not realize the meaning of the syllable, and he just used it as a temporary placekeeper to fill a gap in the lyrics, but upon learning the German meaning he decided to leave it in. After the song's release, so many people had misinterpreted the word as "Bruce" that Lynne actually began to sing the word as "Bruce" for fun at live shows.
