  • Pipeline at seaworld orlando we be the world's first surf coaster. A ride that looks super awesome but yet still leaves some questions. So let's get into what makes sense and what doesn't. First off this ride is indeed a next generation stand up coaster, and if you've been following the development chances are you obviously knew that already. So what else did this announcement really tell us? Well actually a lot and i'm not going to have you wait any longer to know why this announcement is better than most of us expected. It all comes down to the rides articulating restraint system. As you notice in the animation released by the park the rides' restraints move up and down as the coaster traverses the layout. Now why is this important?

    Let's be honest, the track layout looks so smooth and very spaced out....
    I think B&M knows what they are doing!
    Sea World Orlando said the inversion on this gives you Zero G roll of your feet coming off the board, just by the looks of the coaster layout it seems to me that this track ain't nothing like other stand up coasters (sad to say I never rode a stand up coaster) but the track layout doesn't have a lot of crazy elements to give you that roughness on a roller coaster, so will see what the Coaster bring us when is launches in 2023

      For the most part it's hated by people who haven't ridden it and think it's just yet another B&M standup. Thing is, it's a bit more drawn out than other standups, which fixes one of the two main issues with them leaving only the restraint system as the remaining problem. A standup riding position is more sensitive to sudden changes in motion, and thus requires gentler transitions than a typical sitdown coaster.

    B&M knows they're running out of parks that can install a Hyper or large Wing coaster. And while 150-foot Dive coasters are desirable, they still cost at least $15 million. Any park looking to spend $11 to $12 million on a B&M had been limited to a smaller Invert (which tends to be more intense than a larger one). So the Surf model gives B&M a mid-market thrill coaster that's relatively family friendly. And I'm sure they're looking into articulated floorless restraint conversions if standing still proves unpopular (though I hope it isn't). A launched floorless coaster would be the ideal budget model for B&M, and it'll be very exciting to see if shuttle Wing coasters take off, too.

    I bet the sensation of a stand up launch, mixed with it intentionally being as smooth as possible and the seat design will be nice. I'm a little nervous because I'm rather tall and worry maybe I will have less of the seat motion because of that, but a minor gripe.

  • @jaob27294
    @jaob27294 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The main problem with stand ups is not smoothness or head banging, though that can make it worse. It is the uncomfortable seating position. Riddlers revenge at magic mountain I rode towards the back and it was very smooth throughout, I didn’t even hit my head once on the restraint.

    I am sure I will ride this baby before it is a month old... This is what SeaWorld needed after their other park in Tampa (BGT) got their RMC hybrid (iron Gwazi) that began making it's own "waves" not too long ago; albeit this is nothing like Iron Gwazi in intensity. Thanks for sharing, Josh! 🎢

    The empire of the penguin ride ride has been closed for a really really long time right now. Maybe the next project could be a replacement for it similar to DarKoaster since that was originally a dark ride
    Maybe like, Empire Of the Penguin: Arctic Escape. Or something like that. Would imagine it to be a small family coaster like darKoaster but could be like a spinning coaster because the park doesn’t have that it would definetely add to their lineup

    The main Stand-Up ive ridden is (sadly) Green Lantern at Six Flags Great Adventure. But this one looks nice and less of a "ball-breaker" with its custom articulating seats. Albeit it looks like they also are doing the seats pneumatically (or maybe a compression spring, have to check that out) so if those are pneumatics and not timed correctly then it will probably hurt even more.... I hope it goes well though and that it can catch on too.
