You're the man in my book. You're testing amps that ppl are really curious about. Clarion hasn't changed, still top quality and sound better than they look.
Clarion has always been solid. I'd liken them to Pioneer/Kenwood. I think the reason that they get overlooked is because they sometimes get distributed by Walmart/BB and the fact that they don't make 2kW+ equipment. In the 1kW class that they are placed in, I see no real reason to doubt them. It's really a shame that people overlook these mainstream manufacturers that actually have REAL ENGINEERS working for them and invest R&D into actually making their own designs rather than the "mainstream boutique" brands that just repackage Korean boards. For what Clarion has chosen, the business model is designed to fit in the 1kW niche. I said it before, but if you look at RF, a comparatively small company in terms of employees, with a wider range of SKUs (going up to 3500W+), then you will have to pay more. At the same time, you have the assurance that you get quality components and thoughtful designs and form factors (regulated power supplies, high quality Japanese components). It doesn't surprise me that the RF marine mini amp is 4x more money.
recon440 clarions business model is based around oem products I can’t think of any other brand that has equipment in as many cars straight from factory as clarion do that’s why their speakers aren’t really all that great but their electronics are top notch the speakers in any new car are generally pretty crap but compare the complete system to the higher spec factory systems and it’s usually only the speakers that change
Clarion has an extremely small selection of products and their website seems like an afterthought! For instance, I considered purchasing a double din, mech-less ((No DVD) head unit with a minimum 7” touch panel for my secondary vehicle. These units are literally everywhere because they are a standard. However, Clarion doesn’t make mech-less units and they only make 2 double din units! TWO!! They have ZEROE amps listed in the car audio section and you’ll have to navigate the marine audio selection to find the few that they carry! All in all, i feel like they are pursuing the factory install market and have forsaken the aftermarket car audio community!
Wish you would do more 5 channels. Lots of guys/girls doing the single amp system. N boat set ups hell ya! I had 2 fosgate 150hd's and a 75hd running my highs in my boat
Power is there, but does it sound good? I'm sure it does as Clarion has always done well . I know there decks have been favs of a lot of people I know.

I have the clarion apx600.5 in my car the amp came out in 2001 I bought it used in 2007 I’ve had it in my chevy for 11 years it has been doing its job I have never had a problem with it the clarion amp that I have is a masterpiece

A guy had one of these listed on Facebook marketplace 6 months ago and I should have bought it. I just couldn't find ANYTHING about it on the internet. FYI, I'm running an old school Clarion class A/B amp for my highs and it's really clean.
It appears that this amp has been discontinued at most vendors, and if you can find it, the price is well over $200, so the low price/high performance equation unfortunately no longer applies. If someone needs an extremely compact 5-channel amp due to limited space, it may be worth the cost.
I've always love Clarion amps, installed a lot of them back in the day, for someone on a budget their amps were always good bump for the buck, but their head units were a different story, especially their OEM head units......
these amps are also great to replace OEM car amps like hyundai and such where you have an analog signal and need 5 chan that are all 2ohm stable and it can be fit under the seat where the oem amp lived and died
Great find Ryan! I have long reccomended Clarion head units for friends and family doing deck only installs beacause they have more powerful speaker outputs than Pioneer or JVC. Good to see it carries on to their amps.
Great results! But man what a flashback from the 80s! LOL I remember I had an old 80s Alpine amp that was wired just like that. In fact I remember it was 75 watts per channel and it bumped the 6x9s on the back deck of the Olds 98!

A micro full range class D multi channel amp. Excellent numbers! My only question would be what the S/N ratio is on that amp. Clarion is a great company, they made the McIntosh amps that everyone covets so much. I owned the DRX 9375R Pro Audio head unit back in the late 90's. Best/Cleanest head unit i've ever owned. Period.

I have the xc1420 paired with infinity primus 6.5 pr6502is back and 6.5 components pr6500cs front and xc1120 paired with a pioneer ts-sw2002d2 (free aired). All using stock location of my infiniti g35x. It sound really good using my pioneer avh-x7700bt head units.
This is so awesome because so often these microamps are overrated because they simply can't fit the hardware in the chassis yet have to live up to big standards. wish I could find it for 130 for my mothers Subaru
Used many of the smaller clarion amps. They're not bad but for the price we sold them for you could've gotten much better for the price. We used the0n in the dash of vehicles be9hind the radio due to the size

Mine was running 4 speakers off my new Pioneer NEX4200, and cut out after about five minutes when I connected the subwoofer, which output no sound. Strong clicking sounds when powering up, and it may play for a few seconds then it cuts out. Blue light turns red. Running the low input RCA's. Any suggestions?
I was under the impression that hitachi owns them with Foxconn as the pcb fab... i have the 4 ch ver of the RF it's a really solid amp but i put a orion xtr 2500 on my fi sp4+ 18" all crammed in a focus st hatchback lol ah also a RF DSR1 to link to the factory sync 3 system.

I’ve had clarion amps before, wattage might be high, but the signal to noise ratio and other specs are pretty low. This particular amp shows 70db> on their website. I think it’s too low for an amplifier imo.

I think that would be limited by the internal capacitance (In other words held charge between notes in the power supply) of the amplifier. The Rockville I just tested resulted in the same effect

I have always regarded Clarion to be a honest brand(from the 90s to now) and I am not disappointed.

I have the XC 1410 pushing my front and rear door speakers and it sounds very good! Im not surprised at the results!

Run two of these for a crazy way to power a 3 way front with rear fill, and about 600 watts for two subs.
Maybe use a brand new in box set of old school Boston acoustics....the crossover is the size of this amplifier.

I ran 2 clarions in my dads 71 d300 on a $100 jvc headunit they are great for there age and especially being old tractor speakers

Clarions XC 6 channel was a great amp. It's a shame clarion ditched that line being anything but super small footprint amps.

This amp didnt last one summer in my boat and I rarely even listen to music bc me and the friends are visiting on the boat

You should test the DB drive neo amps. I see alot about them but haven't seen any testing

Yes you still run each positive and negative to the battery. Not sure why they went this direction... but that's what they did....
