Such a fuckin aesthetic to hear. Gives me Kings Field vibes. I can't even study to this, because my mind wanders darkened halls of old, and fog-shrouded forests.
You thought it exaggeration but the winds in the Mountain Realm never stop howling. It's the only voice you've heard in days and it ever says the same thing: Turn back. This is not your place. Go home. There are beautiful places in the world stocked with love and warmth; go there, be happy. Leave. You ignore this voice as you move forward. If you knew what drove you, if you could put it into words and name it, maybe you could explain yourself in return. Howl this primal anxiety. You could empty the cup filled by stories from the survivors and veterans of the Crystal Palace and beyond; of wild magic, forms the eye was not made to parse, thoughts your mind would never otherwise know. They came back touched, unable to tact the world. Pour the cup into the wind, let it mangle and rake your words, turn them into something that makes sense. But of course you will not howl at the wind, that would be madness. Instead you continue walking further into the mountains, through the forbidding veil, armed and wary, further into Frostfall. Yes, that is what you do instead.
Of course a lain fan writes a peak opening speech to a 30 minute dungeon adventure game that ultimately unravels as a lesson in human pride and the downfalls of their prejudice.
For some reason, I am reminded of that part in Amid Evil where the mountain Giants spot you. Then, they start throwing their spears at you, except the spears are something an Evangelion would wield... omg.. epic part!
Tape cassette art is so cool. I love how i think its gonna be doom metal or something but it isnt and i stay up all night relaxed making art and stretching
The album art reminds me so much of 70’s dark fantasy novels that thrilled me as a kid. I truly wish I could have listened to you back then because these albums fit the mood perfectly.

Only now coming back to this music since the days of early Mortiis. It's great to hear some awesome real dungeon synth here on your channel, so many pretenders out there using the DS name.
As I sit in my stone tower and conjure toxic potions to hex my greatest enemies with, this channel always supplies the best background music to complete the vibe. May thy reign be the longest and uncontested 👊
I don't know why, but I like this album more than the others... Perhaps because of its melancholy... It makes me think of the sad, lonely life of a creature of the dark, vainly trying to understand those living on the surface...
Somehow, these track titles and the cover arts you have been using so far, are starting to come together and are building an imaginary dark fantasy world. Excited to see where else this project will take us.
Every album from Cryo Crypt has been top tier dungeon synth. This is no exception. More please. Curious to see who the next artist to join will be and what their take on the genre sounds like.
All my homies love the song "Stew" from the Dungeon Synth Album called "Mountain Realm - Frostfall" by Cryo Crypt. The grunting goes unbelievably hard, creates a heavy and griscous atmosphere
The fact that everything that I'm looking at here and listening to is all done by a single person is astounding. What Eldritch power did you evoke to mesmerize us so?
No matter the time of year, dusk, or dawn, The Keeper of “The Breast,” was always standing guard. He stood so still, that the snow was caked on him like frosting. He was there so long, that icicles formed upon his back like horns. The Keeper was tall, unlike any other on this world. You could tell, from the small smile that curled his lips, he wouldn’t rather do anything else. Upon his left side was a stone slab that resembled a shield. A symbol of his unwavering post. It was time to learn of what he guarded.

I like this sub-genre better than Lofi, not knocking Lofi, but this seems more put together, and it does feel like this is trying to be like the 8-bit games I played wanted to be. Nice neo retro music!
One more level Crawling the Dungeon Deeper Further Down Slashing through hordes of goblins and trolls Shiny Item That I found Further Down I need to go
I close my eyes. I'm trudging through knee deep snow along the edge of a dark forest. I am lightly armored, with no more than a cloak and a small fire I manage to channel with my limited arcane knowledge keeping me warm. Not a sound to be heard save the crunch of snow beneath each foot fall. I stop. Taking a moment to catch my breath after endless hours of travel. Just in time, I hear a faint creaking of wood. I turn back just in time to see a goblin's arrow loose towards me. I raise my shield up just in time. Peering over my shield, I now notice the horde coming out from the trees behind the goblin archer. With little time to think, I hurl a small bolt of fire toward the archer, hoping for the best. Without waiting to see if the fire struck, I turn and flee away from the forest. In the distance, I notice a small structure. A cottage. Abandoned? No smoke from the chimney, must be. I hear the snarls and crunch of snow behind me. Another arrow flies just past me. Did I miss the archer or are there others. I didn't notice before. I make it to the cottage, run around to the opposite side. The door, knocked off its hinges, lies on the floor, a large hole smashed into it. I hold the door where it should go and cast a simple mending spell on it. It seems to hold well enough. I begin stacking the ruined furniture in front. Conjuring a small flame, I begin looking for anything that might help fend off the goblins. A hunting bow and quiver with a few arrows leans against a nearby wall. Old, dry paper and wood scattered everywhere. I pick it up and begin lining the walls with it and scattering the rest throughout. I can hear the horde gathering around the hut. They don't seem to be attempting to enter. Probably toying with their meat. There are more bodies out there than I have arrows and while I may be good enough with both blade and spell to get by, there's no doubt that this horde will be my end. If today I die, let it not be said I didn't fight til my last breath. I knock an arrow, crack open a window. I see them, just barely as the sun goes down. Little more than silhouettes. Some have torches now. They're all snarling, some banging weapon on shield. Without doubt, trying to instill a little fear into their meat. I'm not so proud as to deny that it's working. Having extinguished my flame, hoping they don't see me, I take aim at one with a torch, who I can see more clearly than the others. No reaction. They can't see me. No point in delaying the inevitable. I loose the arrow. It strikes right in the neck. With a gurgle, the goblin torch bearer falls. The goblins let out a synchronized scream. In grief? Not likely. Anger, hate. They run toward the cottage and begin banging hammers and axes against the windows and walls. It doesn't take much with this old place. They begin getting through. As fast as I can, I knock and loose arrow after arrow until the few I had are spent. They begin climbing through the first breach. I cut them down as they enter, but more are breaking through. Goblins begin to pour in around me, I make my peace with whichever God will care to hear and begin hurling little fire orbs about the place. Quickly catching the old paper and wood on fire. Spreading even quicker. The goblins let out a squeal. Only that briefest victory before an arrow plunges into my chest. Barely having time to react to the pain from that, a dagger catches my gut, then an axe in my shoulder. I collapse. The world around me darkening despite the fire growing wilder. The last thing I hear are screams of the few goblins I hope to have slain by the fire as the darkness takes me entirely. No proper burial for me. The remaining goblins will drag my corpse off to feast upon. The rest of the world will go on as though nothing happened. My death, just as my life, meaning little, if anything at all.
