Thanks for doing another follow up in the "Not what people think it is" series. I always look forward to your videos and it means a lot that you actually did a couple videos after my request.
Even though Czechoslovakia didn't get the blueprints for the AK why do they not use AK magazine with last round BHO like Yugoslavia did so all Warsaw pact AK mags would fit but not necessarily function BHO device? Can't believe Warsaw pact didn't demand that functionality from one of their satellite states.
Been waiting for this one!!! I have a D-Techniks imported by Waffen Werks and a D-Techniks 10 round single stack magazine imported by GIA... love how these shoot and they seem more accurate than my AKs in general. I hate the pinned muzzle break!!! As always thanks again for the informative video...
This will sound snobbish and it is a bit hehe, but if you ever shoot a Czech CSA/D-Technik Vz.58, you'll forget all about the CAI version. Besides just being all Czech, the import version is built from all new and/or NOS military parts. The CAI guns sometimes used rather well worn parts, which could lead to issues or just made them feel less than great. Thank you for watching.
A nice video as always! But I have a question concerning the Czech arms development. How did it come, that the Czechs introduced the VZ 52/57 with only a lifespan of under 2 years? I assume that at the time the VZ 52/57 was introduced, the design and development of the VZ 58 was in full gear. We have all heard the story that the Soviets wanted the Czechs to change their main caliber from 7,62x45 to standard 7,62x39. But why invest time, money and ressources to alter the VZ 52 and introduce a new rifle (VZ 52/57) if only 2 years later a complete new rifle system was planned to be introduced, which already was planned to be chambered in the standard 7,62x39 calibre? Well, I don´t want to complain as we collectors and shooters profite from this - decades later - in the way that we can get nearly brand new VZ52/57 rifles! :-)
Well to be fair, the Vz.52/57 was pretty much the exact same rifle as the Vz.52. They just cut the chamber differently, redesigned the magazine slightly, and a few other minor things. Since the production line was already estabilished, it did not require muchwork. Yes, the Vz.58 started to go into production in 1959, but back in 1957, they did not know it would happen so quickly. The design was begun way back in the early 1950s and only picked up steam in 1956. For all they knew, it might not have been finished and into production until the early 1960s. That and since the Vz.52 was already there and a tested design, why not? They ended its production right as the Vz.58 came online anyway. However, the Vz.52/57 still remained in use in Czech throughout the next decade, and also was exported to a number of friendly nations such as Vietnam, Cuba, Grenada, and a few places in Africa.
Well, gun was probably in development since WWII ended, they could not know that commies take full power after 1948. You probably know how archaic and traditional armies are, they just wanted gun in their caliber and didn't care about near future.
oh man the vz58 is so cool. I wish czech would remake vz52 and the 7.62x45 round again for people to buy. EDIT: I went back to some of older AK vids(left a comment as well) and those older videos are not good as your new videos. Also you looked much bigger back than,
Yes, we bought a mic early this year, and then were forced to buy a new camera this summer. Plus we got new editing software, so we've done what we could.
This video was recorded a couple months ago. I've lost more since then also. I am not very tall, so it shows much more on me than say on someone 6 ft +. Back in college was about 115-120 lbs. Middleage and all, not much more.
got to say I like my Vz-58 better than any AK pattern firearm I have now or have been around. It really needs to be shot more it is too nice to just hang out in a safe. One thing of note, my VZ. 58 has constantly been more accurate than any of my AK's and a hole lot more accurate than a few of them.
Agreed, I do not get to fire mine nearly enough these days. I think the nicer trigger and short stroke gas piston system help with accuracy. Also the locking wedge system means that the bolt itself doesn't tilt, tip, or rotate; it only moves front to back, so this might help too. If nothing else, the whole thing is very interesting, mechanically speaking. Thanks much for watching, cheers.
I only liked CZ-82 handgun chambered in 9x18 Makarov only Bec it was just a better handgun than the Makarov it was Czechoslovakia way of saying Fuck you your Makarov pistol sucks we can make a better handgun, but there VZ.58 is just a wannabe AK which made them look like they wished they had the AK I love my CZ-82 9mm Makarov pistol accurate, ergonomically better than the Makarov, ambi safety and ambi mag release, comfortability and 12 round mag capacity, but other than the cz-82 I'd stick with AKM/AK-47
Misha, love the pauses you make when you speak - letting the info sink in! Your knowledge is impressive - thank you for a great video with no BS!!!
Your knowledge seems endless Misha. These videos have become my favorite and I thank you for all the work you do. Keep up the awesome work.

Another rifle added to the must have list. Thanks Misha!

This was the rifle used by the VC sniper at the end of Full Metal Jacket!
Thank you much for watching.

Love my VZ-58s!
Very well done! Another example of how the Czech's have marched to the beat of their own drummer.
Yep, exactly. We'll be doing a video about Czech SMGs but I am waiting on 1 more, final example.
Want a vz 58 paratrooper
VZ 58 is the best assault rifle ever made in Czech Republic.
thank you for watching
I played crossfire and I see this gun the vz 58 its powerful than AK47
Gotta love those czech points .
They are the real McCoy...at least as real as we can ever get, cheers.
7.62xBLYAT

Sure, its nicer than a Russian ak, just like about every ar is, but......
Highly debatable
the vz is 100% better than the ak
cope
Chip board stock...lol
I love the look of this gun! the hand guard reminds me of the AK 46, which had a more attractive design than the AK 47 imo
