The paper instructions that came with the Cover Mate I would cause you to install it all wrong. This video shows you how to install it correctly and saves you trying to figure where you went wrong from the paper instructions. Nice clear cut step-by-step instructions.
The lower you mount the bracket the less the cover will be in the air when the cover is off of the tub. From other instruction if the center bottom hole is mounted 8” down from the spa shell the cover will be up 75% and needs 9” of rear clearance. If mounted 12” down then the cover will be 50% in the air and needs 15” of clearance. I don’t know of you can go lower than 12” because I’d like to have the cover just above the ground because my tub in in an enclosure like a shed with windows. It’s not also says to measure 9” from the end of the spa rear to the center of the lowest hole.
Thanks for posting the video I was going to have to cut down the length for my spa now Im just going to follow your advice...Cheers you got a new sub bro.
I have this on our swim spa, do you think we could a a hydraulics or something o make it a little easier? I don’t have much problem with it but it’s still pretty hard on the wife to lift it. Any ideas are much appreciated
They’re pretty standard for those spas. It honestly depends on the model of swim spa you have. I know some swim spas have that odd bow shape to the sides and can pull siding or warp the lifter. I know they make a roll back tarp kind of one for swim spas you might want to look into as well.
Sorry..this comment slipped past me. This will fit just about every standard spa. It’s it’s really small you’ll have to trim the bars using a sawsall or similar tool. It’s it’s XL like a 9ft spa..they make an XL CoverMate 1 that has extended arms fur the sides.
Sorry I couldn’t answer in time. If it’s top clearance it is 3 inches longer that total length of spa cover and back usually requires about 32inches. The cover opens at an angle on the back end. Sides require about 5 inches.

How much clearance is needed ?

Good video. I have a Cover Mate 1 Eco model and it is too wide for my Hot Spring Jetsetter. Should I cut some metal to make it shorter? Thank you.
Thank you. Yes you can cut them to make shorter. I used to just use a saw to cut excess to make fit for smaller spas all the time.
Drink every time he says “ok”…. Ok??
Lmao!! Can not be held responsible for drunken incidents…😂 🍻
