Just wanted to play the hourglass game mode to be in a one hour long fight of them running back-and-forth in the pocket so they could get stationary cannons on us. They sucked at hand to hand PVP plus ship PVP, yet all they had to do was camp. They didn’t even win by sinking us or out, skilling us (because they were bad and relying on a strategy where they didn’t have to do anything) we decided to go right off the playable zone because we couldn’t even get an ounce of combat. Great game.
If I'm diving for Hourglass matches I tend to give myself a timer of 10-15 min. If fights go on longer than that I'll just GGs and scuttle. Saves me time to get another fight.
There is a trick you couldn`t use because of the positioning of your ship. With a Captained ship you can just repair your ship for money during the fight if you are close enough to the start point.
@@JonBardcore im not entirely sure, and have no way to prove it, but i feel like it wont allow you to do this in an hourglass match. maybe in the earlier days of season 8, but i feel like rare would have patched something that is pretty much an instant repair to completely reset the fight. at the very least i would think it would make you patch all the holes before you can do this, but i dont know for sure
After 3 weeks of grinding I got to level 77 in servants but my friends got burn out for a little bit so I might use this trick to get the last 23 levels thanks for the tip
I absolutely adore this video!! It may not be effective but that was a cool way to fight! Invasions clearly need a buff, or just something - anything! At least an option to opt in to being invaded right away after a battle instead of waiting 15 minutes for the chance to be. I've been lucky whenever I've made content around being invaded, it's never taken more than 20 minutes to get an invasion. But, the way you described your experience is absolutely miserable....
It was definitely rough. Got my first two back-to-back maybe within twenty minutes of each other. But then I had two sloops near me doing a Veil and I feel like that interfered with the invasion counter. They were there for HOURS. Only after they left did I get invasions back, was super strange. Thanks for the tip on the merchant stacking. ;)
Friends and I are currently using a similar method and we are 6 for 6 right now. Cant leak exactly how it’s done just yet. it’s not only effective but much faster than the video. Can reasonably get a level-2 levels every 15-20 mins or so.
I do this strat at keelhaul fort. I pull into the bay and anchor and knock the mast down. Even if the can get ship cannons on you. They cant hit low enough to cause leaks. Than all you gotta do is hang out in the only tower that has angle on your sloop. Get some holes on yhe and go for a bord.
I actually did this by accident once, hahaha. My ship was somehow stuck in the harbor. Even damaged it seemed to sink really slowly due to being stuck on sand. So I boarded the other guy and sailed out of bounds. He laughed on voice chat so I didn't feel too bad.

Damn Jon Bardcore. Once again, you have tried something I was thinking of. Especially because I have a great track record with stationary cannon emplacements. My normal crew and I did a series of fights with our ship nosed into a ghost fort. This seems like that on steroids. I would love to sail with you! haha
@@JonBardcore Its best to plop down some legendary voyages of black powder before parking there then stashing the kegs you get in the sovereigns tent, and as long as your ship is pointed that way they will start the battle directly perpendicular to your ship on the opposite time of the island, which means by the time they sail around and wonder why your ship is de-masted in a weird spot you might be able to catch them off guard with a keg or two… you will have to keg your own ship if you want to de-mast and hinder it useless initially. But the only way they can sink you is with fire-bombs or using your own harpoons, as your ship is higher you can’t take water from upper holes which is what their cannons will hit with your ship positioned rear outward. I’ve wanted to try this strat I just haven’t had the patience for a 4 hour play session of waiting, but can confirm you can get your ship in there.
Merchant meta! lets goooo! As far as the rep is concerned, more of the rep boost is in the rep you get from the wins as opposed to handing it in, that being said though you do still get more than if there was no stash :)

Add the hop to your sword vocabulary to level with good double gunners . By design all combat styles should have similar standing in this game (ignoring exploits)
@@JonBardcore if you're ever diving for HG, use hop while under water, will start to build the habit. The hop is also essential when bilging a heavily damaged ship.
I found someone doing this yesterday and was super puzzled. I managed to steal the win by swimming behind his boat and throwing buckets of water to finish off the upper deck till it sank after he left to try and get mine
I'd love to know when this footage was taken seeing as I have tried hourglass many a time recently and every fight I got golden skeletons or yellow ghosts. I just want a curse :(

@@JonBardcore even so, you're missing out on so much, there are exclusive things you can't achieve with a controller, for example, sinking a galleon solo or reaching guardians 100, i've yet to meet a controller player who can match me in PvP unless they're using a Cronos Zen tho i'm pretty sure they will get banned a day later after using it.
Someone tried that on me when I invaded. Ended up killing him and leading him away in the dead zone. He tried. Just had to put my ship in circle and that was it lol
Holy shit seeing console PvP as a PC player is like peering into a different universe. It all makes sense now, those people I fight they're not suffering from a frontal lobotomy, they're just desperately battling with their controller's snail-speed sensitivity and their CRT TV's 4:3 aspect ratio.
I admit my sensitivity is definitely low for PVP but come on, you gotta give me a little more respect than a CRT TV. At least Plasma my guy. Gotta get those deep black colors on screen!

HAHAHA HOW DID YOU LEARN THAT STRATEGY ?? About 1-2 months ago, I remember "creating" this strategy of just putting myself in this spot, and doing exactly as in the video. I don't know if it's just a coincidence, but I've recorded a lot of clips of me destroying people with this strategy, and I've even been able to use it agaisn't currently the best player in the world (a guy on twitch skely/fantom gold guy who has the WR in sloop hr wins). Maybe it's just a coincidence, but I remember traumatizing so many people with it, and maybe the technique has spread by word of mouth over time from me. I feelt so surprised when I saw that my goofy strat was on this video
I remember spawning in at Port Merrick and just going... I want to use these cannons on people. Originally it was going to be a video on surprise steals from people selling at Sovereigns but people never showed when I was there. So I figured let's make em show up with Hourglass!
And yes you will get invaded if the servers full or if there's other ships around. It adds a temporary ship to the server in order to give you an invasion. And people get invaded often while already I'm an open world adventure fight.
See that one I don't know, it took about an hr a piece between invasions. But as soon as those Veil sloops left my area, bam invasion. Meanwhile the war map says diving would get me a match between 2-4 min.
Yeah the invasion takes a long time, there's a 20 min timer between fights, so in theory you could get 3 fights in an hour but it won't prioritize a passive hourglass over a searching one, so if there's not a lot of matches to be had the two people diving will always get eachother before you get one of them if that makes sense.
Tbh I like a video like this for one sime fact, defending. It seems no one ever defends hourglass staches, every battle I've ever had after like a week after HG launched was just 2 invading ships facing off, anyone else?
Just went against a ship trying this method. They were doing some damage but they forgot to lock their ship inside of the port. 😂 once I got out of their range I was able to decimate their defenseless ship.
now if you wanna make this even worse, there are a couple islands like dagger tooth (maybe patched) krakens fall, or marauders arch whhich have spots where the boat doesn't take on any water. hella annoying to play against, fought a tdmmer brig that was just impossible to sink no matter how many holes and buckets we put into them. probs only way out is to harpoon the boat, which takes ages to do.
Just a friendly reminder that the blunderbuss does A LOT more damage up close if you aim down sights before shooting. it usually 1-taps people if you are close enough. I saw you not aiming down sights most of the time.
@@JonBardcore It's not so much the damage it does, it's that the pellets have much less spread when you aim down, so a lot more hit, doing full damage.
if I was gonna do the hourglass pvp I’d probably have toxie Sinclaire and Jon bardcore when doing it cos I’d trust them on my ship while letting them get some “Free” content for their channels, if that’s ok with everyone !?!

INSANELY IMPORTANT TIP: aim when you shoot the blunderbuss to deal much much more damage. 4:43 - 5:25 you would easly one shotted him if you just pressed aim button. Overall great video, i will use this strategy next time :p

The green flames signal you're in PvP Hourglass mode. And if you're not diving, you're defending

your best bet is to dive and get into an orbital with the enemy, trading cans back and forth

something to take from this, controllers suck for SoT or FPS games in general, doesn't the xbox support native K/M anyways? so why not use it?

Tbh I like a video like this for one sime fact, defending. It seems no one ever defends hourglass staches, every battle I've ever had after like a week after HG launched was just 2 invading ships facing off, anyone else?
The problem with defending is that it takes sooooooo long to get matches. Meanwhile invasions are basically every five min.
I sank some kids doing this yesterday just had to kill everyone on ship and raise anchor then harpooned about 2 feet and bam sank

Just went against a ship trying this method. They were doing some damage but they forgot to lock their ship inside of the port. 😂 once I got out of their range I was able to decimate their defenseless ship.
Hahahahah, yeah. If you don't keep the ship still it's going to sink pretty quickly.

now if you wanna make this even worse, there are a couple islands like dagger tooth (maybe patched) krakens fall, or marauders arch whhich have spots where the boat doesn't take on any water.
hella annoying to play against, fought a tdmmer brig that was just impossible to sink no matter how many holes and buckets we put into them. probs only way out is to harpoon the boat, which takes ages to do.
I think mine's a bit more fair, since it does take on water. lol
Just a friendly reminder that the blunderbuss does A LOT more damage up close if you aim down sights before shooting. it usually 1-taps people if you are close enough.
I saw you not aiming down sights most of the time.

@@JonBardcore It's not so much the damage it does, it's that the pellets have much less spread when you aim down, so a lot more hit, doing full damage.

if I was gonna do the hourglass pvp I’d probably have toxie Sinclaire and Jon bardcore when doing it cos I’d trust them on my ship while letting them get some “Free” content for their channels, if that’s ok with everyone !?!

A good strategy to get pvp curses is to learn how to pvp and have an honorable fight for each sides. Not "cheating" like this!

They updated that so that now even if you go out of bounds, you still get loss credit. It's how a lot of loss farming is done these days.

INSANELY IMPORTANT TIP: aim when you shoot the blunderbuss to deal much much more damage. 4:43 - 5:25 you would easly one shotted him if you just pressed aim button. Overall great video, i will use this strategy next time :p

@@RoseGold1224 the spread is diffrent when you aim down sights. Hold it or do some animation cancel but aiming will increese one shot kill range
