  • I'm beginning to think that you could easily buy a Standard Series Squier and turn it into a way nicer guitar than the CV for less money.

    It's a good thing you do it as a hobby for your friends no one could afford the labor cost otherwise.

      That's the idea.. I want people to learn for themselves like I did. If you like to tinker, guitars aren't that hard to start learning about...but there is a shit ton to learn;-)

    Suggestion: Try putting a few wraps of either copper shielding tape or even electrical tape around the ferrules of those push in ones.
    A lot less labor intensive.

    If you are lucky enough to find one of these guitars buy it immediately, you won't regret it They sound and play just as good as their 4 figured counterpart made in USA. I love mine, the only upgrade I felt that I needed to do was install Fender Locking tuners...... That's it . This guitar is gig ready right out of the box. I am very happy with it! Great video!

    I paid 300.00 for my Classic Vibe 50's Tele brand new. Unless I am missing something, I don't see how you would have to pay double that for one? The same guitar you have in this video is 250.00 retail price so it's pretty close to what you are paying in Canada. Yes the CV 50s retail is suggested at 400.00, but you never pay full price on a guitar if you call in and haggle.
    Of course I respect your opinion and your right to it, but based on my prices I would have to say that going with the Standard over the CV is not a better deal. I could do the same upgrades, including case, and come out at the same price. Obviously pick-up preference is individual, but I definitely find the CV pickups to be more pleasing to my ear.

    +Woodeso's Guitar Mods Guitar Fetish sells bushings that are big enough to fit in modern holes but are for vintage style tuners. Its their modern to vintage conversion set. $6.95 for nickel, $7.95 for black or $9.95 for gold. Check them out here: guitarfetish.com/Vintage-Tuner-Conversion-Bushings_c_41.html
    Here is the answer to your prayers!
    Got a brand spanking new Fender® style neck- but big "modern" 10mm diameter style tuner holes? Want to use classic Kluson style tuners with their elegant press-fit tuners? Well here you go- these press fit conversion bushings have the exact correct interior dimensions to fit the Kluson style tuners we sell, and exterior dimensions to fit the oversized 10mm holes found on Fender® USA and Mighty Mite necks. I've found that I usually need to increase the hole size just a tiny bit to make for a snug fit, but this is the ONLY way to make this setup work. You get a complete set of SIX.

    You can also use an aluminium drinks can 'metal' cut into strips the same depth as the hole and use that as a bushing on the tuning pegs. You use the tuning peg as a guide as to how long the bushing needs to be by winding the metal around the peg and marking where it overlaps, that's where it needs cutting. The can, can also be used as shims cut to the correct size when you have to shim a guitar neck.
    Keep up the good work. 🤘🏻

    They sell conversion tuner bushings to allow you to go from a 10mm modern tuner ream to a press fit bushing. Lots less work and fairly inexpensive.

      I actually have an identical Squier Tele to this one and the tuners are the worst ones I've ever seen on a guitar at any price-they absolutely spoil the guitar. I also have a Bullet strat and the tuners are much better.

    Hey buddy, you have and will make repairs and mods the way you do. There are many ways to to do those repairs and mods and as long as it is a good fix, you are not wrong. My way would go plumber. Teflon tape will work. I have even made brass tube ferrules that shimmed the hole enough to make the tuner inserts fit snug. Your way is very solid so, good job! Thankz

    You can absolutely turn a Squier into a guitar better than a Fender. I have a Squier Deluxe Stratocaster that I modded (locking Fender tuners, new nut, new pickups, new string trees, etc) and it plays flawlessly.

  • @puppyy780
    @puppyy780 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I've been wanting a CV Strat for quite some time but have always wondered about this. Buying a cheaper one and upgrading it, that is. Then again, I've never played a Squier Standard or a Squier Deluxe or anything like that. All I can ever find in my music stores are the Affinitys, Bullets, or the occasional CV/VM.

    You could have saved yourself a whole lot of a hassle by just cutting a strip off of a coke can and wrap it around the bushing.... plus its reversable, and please tell me thats not super glue.

      Kevin Carter .com are sold by fender directly t looks like. .CA is a random reseller... exchange rate would make then about 75 canadian. so there's an extra 30$ tacked on there...

    Next time try the locking tuners like on the high end strats. they cost about the same they would of fit the original mounting holes. I like mine so much I just put another set on my mexican Jaguar athough I had to use Gotoh to match the vintage style.

    I had a BSB CV but ended up trading it when I got a Standard series which i now much prefer. It is a 2007 model and cost me second hand £40 ($60) and it dicked all over my CV for playability from the get go. The CV is gorgeous looking but playability is not that great with that over glossed neck and fingerboard.

  • @byronofcalgary6985
    @byronofcalgary6985 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I used to think that getting the 1 3/4" thick body of the Standard Series got you all the good stuff...
    inc a 2 pin trem on the Stratocasters - this is largely true BUT.... the CV's get real hardwood...
    - older CV's got Alder bodies like Fender Mex and USA - - that's mainly why the ORIG Classic Vibes were so highly regarded NOT the no-logo parts - today a CV is Poplar... so are Fenders...

    So in this tele series you took out two perfectly good pickups. Waisted two or more sets of strings. Replaced perfectly fine tuning machines in order to bastardize some fender logo tuners into place. Damn man just buy a Fender Tele if your not satisfied with the Squier.

    • @spottedsaint957
