    This is my favorite thing to do; finding those little pockets of great places to shoot most people would overlook. I used a worn out green wall in a back alley for a senior session and it turned out amazing.

    I'm not a professional, just a hobbyist, and my photography style is totally, totally different. And I still learn so much from all of your videos, thanks! Really appreciate these videos - clear, to the point, and most of all you really know your stuff!

    I do most of these suggestions intuitively as a photographer, but I think it's so great to have a refresher!

    I think I naturally do this as well, but still learned something. I've had friends say sure, but my yard is ugly and I'll tell them I can find the beauty in it and work around it.

    Great tips! I've been doing these same things for years and still sometimes have to remind myself to use them when the pressure is on. Literally just hid tourists on a trail with my bride & groom's bodies during a mountain elopement at a popular location yesterday!!

    This is why I love zooms so much because I can manipulate my backgrounds and foreground perfectly, though I know you use primes… 😍 I took a photographer friend of mine out to the lake with my 70-200 2.8 to take photos of her, and she was just mindblown at what a high compression lens could do. She shoots everything on a nifty fifty. Feel like if I could ever get ahold of that 28-70 f/2 (backorder just plain sucks), it and my RF 70-200 will make me unstoppable! 😛😈

    Anytime I have the room to shoot the 135mm even for full body photos that is what comes out of the bag and gets used. The 85 and the 50 is for when I don't have the space to shoot the 135. Out of all the lenses I have used that is my favorite since I love compressed telephoto looks (if I could afford the 200mm f/2 prime I would shoot that but that is definitely not in my budget). These are all great tips and things I still forget or overlook sometimes when I am shooting in locations that are too busy or have too many distracting background elements so this video was great as a refresher to keep these things in mind.

    • @KatelynJames

      You just have to be so far away from the client. It can be hard to interact and can be limiting in certain situations! But I do think it is a great lens.

    Is a 28 - 70 mm rf lense a high compression lense?

    • @KatelynJames

      You can get high compression at 70mm!

    What aperture do you shoot these videos at Tyler?

    • @tylerherrinton2597
      @tylerherrinton2597 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Usually around f/2.2 on my C70 which is a super 35mm sensor soooo it’s closer to a 2.8 on FF

    • @fitzgeraldfilmsMN
      @fitzgeraldfilmsMN 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    As of 5-16-22 none of the free downloads are available :-(. Message states "You cannot add another "5 Ways to Transform Lousy Portrait Locations" to your cart." You MUST fill out all the info and then the items are available. Sorry, I was confused.

    Weird question did you mean $1,000 dollars or actually 10,000$ I was surprised because I would of thought that $1000 would be shooting in the locations you just mentioned and I would assume that if your client is able to pay $10,000 the better the location.

    • @KatelynJames
      @KatelynJames  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We have found some of our clients spend a majority of their budget on photography so sometimes other areas of the day aren’t “high end”, but the way we shoot we are able to make things look high end! Hope that makes sense
