I've just binge watched your back catalog and I've got to say these videos are some of the most useful and detailed in terms of process and outlining... Anyone can learn something from these whether they use your techniques or not! Amazing, I can't wait for the next videos!
It's weird that I never thought of applying this to writing when I've been doing it in my job during the last 8 years. I'm a covers musician in pubs, restaurants and such. I take about 40 minutes to set up my gear and soundcheck before I start a gig. That setting up process is like a ritual that allows me to get into the mindset to play for (hopefully) a fun audience. The packing up moment after the gig has the reverse effect, helping me come down from the high of all of that energy. Clearly, I need to figure out something similar for writing. I liked your idea of reading before writing. 🙈
Thank the youtube gods for suggesting this video! Sometimes you just need to hear that one simple thing to change your life. For me that simple thing was to warm up. I do it when I sit down to draw and paint. Why did I not think to do it for writing? Who knows! I hope to see more videos from you, thank you.
