One demo I haven't seen mentioned anywhere is The Big Catch: Tacklebox. It captures a late 90's PS1 platformer style game, but they modernized the mechanics so well. It has the look of Spyro mixed with concepts from Ape Escape and Prince of Persia.
I don't know what time it drops for you guys, but the Crewcast more or less goes up at just the right time for it to be ready for me on a Saturday morning with my breakfast, it's becoming a bit of a ritual
yessss Parcel corps! I'm in the game as an Aussie business mogul (you might have seen me in one of the trailers...apologies to the people of Australia) This is a game made by a very talented small team in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It even made the cover of PC Gamer! definitely one to wish list!
Coming here to recommend Joey Valence & Brae to y'all, though more specifically Frank. Them boys got the Beastie Boys pastiche down to a T. I'm making it my mission to spread the word of these guys far and wide.
Oh would love you check out Amnesia: The Bunker - it's a mini immersive sim that takes heavy inspiration from Alien Isolation and Resident Evil. Really think it would make a great fat session!
Mistake in the description that makes it difficult to find the game on Steam for fast typers: "Elation of the WonderBox 6000" should be "Elation For [...]". If you type the "of", it's no longer going to be in the list of results.
I feel like this episode epitomises the critic review vs public view you get in movies & music. I love AAA and indie games with triple-I tending to be the sweet spot for me - but I don't ignore games big or small, unless they're totally out of my genre tastes. So, I know it's more complicated than this, but it seems like you guys want the equiv of niche Oscar-bait films and almost dismiss/actively downtalk anything big budget/blockbuster-y on principle. I know everyone on/following this channel loves indies (myself included) but the chat around the hour mark of this felt a bit patronising and gatekeepery. The equiv to 'pfft, the fans at this gig only know that band's greatest hits, their actual best song is clearly the weird B-side from the 2nd single off their pre-fame underground EP and anything they've done since they signed is mainstream, mediocre and forgettable at best'. Don't get me wrong that is sadly near the truth for a few franchises and studios but not all.
I'm sorry if it came across as patronizing as that's never our intention. We've had big AAA games on our GOTY lists over the last few years, so we definitely have a love for the blockbusters when they come out, but it's always the weird stuff that lights our hearts on fire. Doesn't mean we want fewer big games, or discourage anyone from being excited about them, rather that we just think that on average, the weird avante garde indies are more exciting and are typically more willing to take bigger design risks which is what we want to see. I don't want to speak for everyone on the crew, but I don't care how much money was spent on a game or how many entries deep into a franchise it is, I just want it to do something new and exciting - and it's rare that you get that from the AAA space.
@@jesseguarascia Hey Jesse, thanks for the reply. That's totally fair and honestly half my Steam/Xbox wishlist is things you guys have mentioned over the years - most of them great little indies. I also get that you all have individual tastes (plus industry knowledge you might have) and probably overlook some big games because of that. it just felt like a bit of shame to skim over the showcases so quickly that some announcements (especially multiple Xbox ones) barely even got a name check - because I am genuinely interested on what you think about them.
@@GardinerAlan I appreciate your thoughts on this, means a lot that you want to hear what we have to say about those announcements. Maybe one day we'll go whole hog on a showcase!
@@jesseguarascia Nice one. Looking forward to your Next Fest recommendations. I'm sure you've probably seen it, but if not, The Explorator looks really cool!
The Noclip crew truly are the Man Vs Food of indie games, cramming their bodies full of new titles just to tell us how it feels
Hey it's Frank Howley from those Stardom matches!
ha ha ha I swear I made this comment before Frank mentioned he was actually noticed for Stardom!
Omg every week I forget about this and get excited when I go to youtube and find it waiting on my Friday mornings.
Coming from Spotify to say Jesse has been a great regular addition to the podcast! Love his recommendations and enthusiasm :)
..I think it has to be Jesse as the winner of this weeks Intro Item Off!
I love that Jesse is a regular now!
❤
That McDonald's nugget toy callback unlocked a memory. What a pull!
So glad to see UFO 50 is finally coming out. I've been waiting a long time for it and I know it's gonna be huge.
tis be Friday! crew cast dayyyyyy
Danny said he's going to the south soon... could that be a trip out to Raleigh for the Unreal Tournament Doc we voted for?

Dude it is the McDonalds chicken McNugget toy nostalgia that was hidden in the back of my mind. You nailed it and unlocked why it felt so familiar.

love you fellas! thank you for doing what you do ♥♥
27:50 there was a game like that which came out last year called Friends Vs Friends. Looked really neat
@3:45 Jesse's reactions to Danny's salacious terminology is golden.

Cuffbust got me HYPED

I think of Clair Oscure as FFF1 (French Final Fantasy 1)
Gears of war has been the most consistently enjoyable video game series I've ever experienced.
Everyone loves a bit of bully...180
I can''t believe Killer Bean has been going on for like 20 years now.
Great chat, commentary and insight, as always.
5/5
Try out Aero GPX on NextFest if you like Fzero or Wipeout. the game rules and feels like a modern FZero GX

Fixed! Thanks for the heads up
3 trip 20s? (Sorry, I played the darts back in college, but may be out of touch now. :-) )
Does Nightmare Cart count as a Deboot?
Isn't it properly, a "ton 80?"
