If you work on a 454, 400, or 500 and it needs shocks, the front Fox shocks and springs off a 1998 ZR snowmobile will bolt right up. It is amazing how much it improves the handling.
@@kountryquads9475 I was a test rider at Cat when these were made. As soon as I found out they fit I put them on 2 of my 500 4x4's. You could slide them into a corner and they had very little body roll and were even fun to get air with. As soon as I can find another one this will be the first thing I do to it.
Those Arctic Cats are "weird" looking to me in that they have an empty space where I would think the engine would be. The engine is set really far back. Thanks for the video!
Thank you for continuing to provide such great content. I have brought back to life a side-by-side and a quad for one of our hunting properties for my two teenage daughters. Positive should always be hooked up first and removed first to keep the positive from sparking. Ground is ok to support a surge but positive is not. Awesome vid my friend, be safe :)
Dude stick a magnet on the back of your compression tester so u can just stick that bad boy where ever u want. U use it so much, it would make it way easier to position it for the camera. Also your a beast. Love the videos man. Cheers dude.
I remember seeing this I believe on Instagram. But as of 2 weeks ago, I picked up an 01 4x4 500 and it's super clean. Had to adjust the float, now just to fix the higher end popping.
Great job figuring out the electricals ! That thing would be beautiful for ice fishing out on the frozen lakes, the racks on the front & back would be great for bringing gear out to the fishing spot you like, no matter how far out on the lake it is. My brother & I need to invest in one of those things.
Cool video. I have a '98 400 2x4. Looks just like yours. I bought it new. Had to put a new carb. on it a couple yrs. ago. Just changed the oil and am putting a new petcock and fuel lines + time for a new battery. It's been a great machine. Got new tires on it and a while back I replaced all the rubber bushings in the shocks. What a diff. that made too.
I am a big believer in Marvel Mystery Oil. I use this in my gas so the more I ride the better it runs because the oil really cleans the internal workings of the carb which in some cases won’t have to pull the carb.
What I do go to the fabric store and buy vinyl and recover seats with it and you can get different colors and patterns been doing it on atvs and dirt bikes for over 20 years now
These people that ya'll buy from are their own worst enemy. Screwing up the wiring this bad takes a knack. Thank God there is someone like you to straighten it back out. When ya'll get a new one you never know what you've got till it produces symptoms and on this one it had nuts in the exhaust till they finally blew out releasing the engine to finally run right. Ya'll thought the brakes were on for a while it was dragging so bad. That rear brake may still be dragging but ol Joe will get it sussed out.
I have a little 250 2003 arctic cat, watching your videos made me want to fix it up and running right, and it took me about 4 hours of labor including fixing a crack in the bottom of the case right under the axles, and for that I thank you, now I have a hobby I love. Since you ride through the woods and fields of tall grass and other growth, you might find releasing nematodes (to kill ticks and other pests) very helpful. When I moved into my current house, I had to spray, our yard and the woods behind us, poison to kill 'em off. That was a lot of work. My son found nematodes online and released them twice, at different times during the same year and we haven't seen a single tick since and that was 4 years ago. There are different types of nematodes, so you'll have to choose the correct ones. I have the link to the site that my son purchased them, but I can't post it here. Easy enough to find with a quick Google search though.
Yes. Worse crankshaft decay I ever saw was a 275cc twin snowmobile engine that mice had lived for an age. You would have thought it was two hundred years old.

The spark probably came from the capacitor holding a charge even when the battery is disconnected. On. Big capacitor is you can really get hurt. You got to be careful. CDI means capacitor, discharge ignition I believe so it probably came out of a CDI capacitor

Quick question I've noticed you pre lube some of the cylinders on your projects up with a lil bottle with extended nozzle of 2 stroke oil so it's safe to use this on the 4 stroke engines from what I'm watching on your channel. Just wanted to verify not to pour in as the oil supply but to lube a lil through the spark plug hole?
you can use any lube or oil like that..it is just a small amount to oil the rings cylinder walls as those are dry from sitting... you don't fill it up ...then when it starts up it burns off ( so smokes abit )... best to spin the piston a few times before spark plug goes back in...and then you can fire it up... 2 stroke oil is ok in a 4 stroke in this manner...use proper oil in the engine oil gearbox
why didnt they want to touch it? Did it have cooties? it must have a capacitor storing energy somewhere so when you touched that wire it discharged.. its always a treat seeing wild life on a nice ride.
put some wd 40 on the starter and soak that down it will probably start moving.
