It is surprising how much access you have to the steering with the tank off. Great job rebuilding the steering box, it looked like the manual was essential. I am surprised the balls did not have a cage to hold them in place
it is all pretty straightforward, until you come to put it back together, then it is the ORDER of reassembly that is important!! Thanks for commenting! Phil
Hi there, I didn't really get a kit, but if you google "fordson major steering box parts" you will find you can buy most of the bits you need from various different places. Be aware there are two different types of seal used, but other than that all the parts seem to be the same, I replace bearings and cups, and also the recirculating balls that go in the spiral groove at the bottom of the column. It made a huge difference to the way the tractor drives! Phil
you may be right Del, the problem is remembering to put my overalls on before I start, and gloves, a never remember the gloves till my hand are filthy!
