Update: Dad adjusted the timing slightly and it is running perfect and no more check engine lights. Been driving it for the past few days with no issues. Thank you all for the help and diagnosis. You all are the best!
I just replace my OPDA on my TJ as well. You are suppose to do a Cam/Crank Relearn after replacing it. Is your OBDII reader bi-directional. If so see if it has the cam/crank relearn and run it. It will program the computer. Your error message had the word 'correlation' in it which is just a relearn procedure. Your dad adjusting the timing helped but could have been negated by running the relearn. :)
That raptor coating was really an easy fix. Big transformation with a minimal cost. There was a good amount of labor to take off all the parts but it is definitely something a novice should be able to try. great job.
These videos are great, everything is super simplified and makes it feel like you could do these rebuilds yourself. Only thing the Jeep is missing is the spare on the back now.
I put a Bed Rug kit and Best top on my 94 YJ and love it. I retired from working at a CJDR dealership from the parts and service department. I can tell you that getting parts for a 4.0 in new old stock (NOS)is about like finder hens teeth. My 94 has a 2.5 4cylinder in it and parts for those are about the same. I agree with a previous comment that it could be the timing chain and gear set on that many miles is a most likely culprit for the crank and cam getting out of sync with each other in the higher rpm. Good luck with your project for your parents and really appreciate and enjoy your channel.
With the code it also could be a possibility that your timing is off, maybe the chain is worn and has slack and caused the cam and crank to come out of alignment
I’m not 100% sure but I don’t think that motor has an actual timing chain. I think they have a physical gear mesh and lifter operated valves. I watched a disassembly of a 4.0 and that’s how I remember it coming apart. I think the 2.5L motors are the same as well, I drive one. Correct me if I’m wrong tho
Love your channel , really loving the Jeep builds 👍🏻 I’ve wanted a Jeep since I was like 15 . After watching your first few videos , i started looking for a jeep , and bought one last week . My favorite when I was young was a 1998 jeep wrangler Sahara , green with that green and tan interior . I bought a 2018 jeep wrangler Sahara . Keep up the great work on your videos and your Builds. Great work
Put 3-5 twists in the fabric door catches, so that the doors are limited in how far they can swing open. If your parents don’t want to run any larger tire than that, you might consider going back to stock height springs and stock control arms for a better ride.
Amazing job as always! You always go the extra mile to make sure things are done right (and usually way beyond that!). Complete transformation all around!
Glad you and your father stuck with it and have it fixed correctly! I don't know how much you have invested in parts and labor but that Jeep could easily fetch over 10k now--but somehow I don't think your parents will ever sell it. Great video, Alex--I wish I had your superpower to snap my fingers and make everything as good as new or better!😉
Great job!!!! I'd love for you to report on how the sound deadening worked. I pulled my carpet out and raptor lined my floor. It gets really hot on long road trips bc of the transmission tunnel, like cooks your feet hot. Good job on cutting the sound deadening around your drain plugs. You did the doors so well. I prepped well and did a spray finish. It lasted a long time but eventually failed bc I didn't clear it.
You should go back under the carpet and cut a few holes in the sound dampener around where the drain plugs are in case it ever rains on you or gets water in the jeep so it doesn’t just sit in a puddle under the carpet.
What a great job! Not just one area to complement. All areas were impressive. I really appreciate the door panel restoration. Truly awesome. On my channel I restored my Jeep from a dog to a pearl and it was tons of work but worth it all. I appreciate your effort. Looks like you and the Jeep life are getting along just fine! More Jeep vids please
Another stellar video. Thanks for sharing this with us. I owned a YJ and a 1959 Willys pickup. Loved both of them. Now I'm old and have a 2020 Grand Cherokee and my 2019 Ram...
What a "nice" way to to help out your Parents, after they allowed you to use their property and garage, on your many projects; which we all enjoy so very much! "Thanks" for sharing!!!
Thank you Zach for your approach to recording and showing the work 😅! As a tech for 50 years it’s hard to watch other channels who show every screw and ratchet turn 😂! Love seeing the progress and finished product ❤!!! Nice job 😊
For anyone doing the same painting to their interior plastic pieces - Auto zone's plastic/vinyl black trim paint is amazing. Especially on a hot sunny day that can cure. I used it for my TJ interior pieces and 3 years later no fading.
Another cool video always enjoy the content never disappointed good job . Looks really good have a good weekend and stay safe Jimmy from North Attleboro Massachusetts
I love these video’s. You domwhat you are good at. Also The honestly approach is very very nice. You are a good pe4son and made my day even better with this vid! Thank YOU !
Cam crank correlation codes can be tricky friend. A Picoscope could give you a wave form of data from the sensors to compare with known good sensors/motor. You could have a sensor issue, wiring, or timing off, or shaft of cam has shifted on pulley. Either way killer transformation.
If you ever run into a no crank, no start condition here is one thing to check. The actual ignition switch is on the left side of the column and the key is on the right. There is a long cylindrical rod that looks quite a lot like a small tuning fork that connects the end of the tumbler for the key cylinder to the ignition switch. Those "forks" have a habit of breaking. Just keep it in the back of your head because it can make you pull you hair out trying to figure out why when you turn the key you can get the ignition switch to move to accessory but it won't start. (The start position is spring loaded to return the switch to the run position so with a broken fork you have enough grip to get it to accessory but not enough to over come that return spring.)
I'm getting ready to buy my 4th Wrangler (all TJs, this will be the TJ Unlimited, or LJ), and while I know these are easy to work on, you're really getting me excited to do some nice things to it, like the Raptor lining and some sound deadening. My wife isn't going to be super ecstatic about all that, but this is more of a "dream Jeep," you know?
A hardtop would really help make the Jeep quiet. I know it somewhat defeats the purpose of having a Jeep, but it would be a nice option during the cooler/colder months. I do remember that you are in FL I was just thinking for those few months when the top might be useful or if your parents decide they just want a quiet Jeep.
Looks great! Makes me want to restore an old Jeep! I’d probably take the smoke covers off the tail lights. Seems you’re asking to get smashed from behind when other drivers can’t see the brightness of your brake lights (as they’re designed to be used). Replace them with LED units (and a new third LED light mounted above the spare tire. 😀
Bro awsome job on the jeep wish I could find one in my area they want ten grand for one like you got your parents I hate Oregon love your work brother keep it up
Great job on making this thing bearable again. Some of these mods out there are outrageous. Will you leave the rear lights the way they are? I've been waiting for those covers to be gone since that car came of the trailer.

P0016 CRANKSHAFT/CAMSHAFT TIMING MISALIGNMENT was a pretty good give away eh :D

Who would have reprogram it for you? I’ve been dealing with this code for a year ready for the disappeared.
@@bountyhunter5340 i re-programmed it myself with an Innova 5610
🤣Get a non computerized CJ, Simple end of problems. Carburated🤣🤣

Wow what a difference. His video is giving me the confidence to get one and fix it up
I swear I thought you were wasting your time with those door cards. Came out amazing
thanks for the great content! HUGE fan of your "Leave me alone" t-shirt too.
My god the transition is amazing, great job. So happy you changed those lug nuts, man I hated those pointy things!!
Everyone needs a son like you, nice work.
It's looking GR8 Zack! Mom and Dad are really happy too I'm sure!!!
Man of all trades , got to love the content .

No chain it's gear driven. The reason they are considered "bulletproof" everything else is no stronger than any other straight 6
I’m loving the jeep content. My dad had a jeep my whole life and I have so many memories riding around with him.
Great transformation Alex great work I really don't understand why you don't have more subscribers.
Love your channel , really loving the Jeep builds 👍🏻 I’ve wanted a Jeep since I was like 15 . After watching your first few videos , i started looking for a jeep , and bought one last week . Jeep looks fantastic, another great rebuild! Please include links to the parts you used to make it easier for us to order.
Such a great video, love the transformations. Pontoon boats, jet skis, VWs and Jeeps, this channel kicks ass!
I had no idea you could just grab parts from any old jeep. Awesome job on this build/refresh!
Only a few year models I believe 96 thru o6

Man that's a lot of work but came out awesome. I can't wait to see you do your jeep.

Damn, I learned how to fix 2 problems I have in my jeep, the door panels and the seats..THANK YOU!!!

Drain holes are cut out 👍🏼
Pretty nice job and it look like a 12k$ jeep now !!
Congrats 🎉

Great episode.
My mind is blown by the door panel restoration 😮
For anyone doing the same painting to their interior plastic pieces - Auto zone's plastic/vinyl black trim paint is amazing. Especially on a hot sunny day that can cure. I used it for my TJ interior pieces and 3 years later no fading.
Shocked for those door panels. You are a miracle worker. Everything turned out amazing. Please use floor mats to protect that new carpet
A+ job Zach! I'm sure your parents are very happy with it.
Loving the makeover of your dads jeep

If you enjoy AC on those warm days in Florida a hard top comes in handy also quiets down road noise as well
I love the snaps !
Very good job !! Congrats 👍😃
Great job man!
Great content bro. Keep it up!!
Amazing Job!
Crazy improvement
Love your videos mate! Subscriber here from Sydney Australia. 🙂
Great job I really enjoy your content.
Great transfornation!
Smart choice on the Rhino liner. The surface was probably a little pitted anyway so now it's not noticeable and looks great 👍

kiiler transformation dude!
Amazing work like always ...zak needs to get a grinder and flap discs .. ditch the belt sander ... Your missing out. .. way easier...
Great content. Keep it up.
Duuuude, looks sick!
Looks awesome
Amazing changes. 😊
Bro awsome job on the jeep wish I could find one in my area they want ten grand for one like you got your parents I hate Oregon love your work brother keep it up
Great video.
That Jeep is worth five times what your dad paid for it now. Wow, awesome work.
There is a crankshaft sensor on top of the transmission bellhousing you need to change.
I have that same Ross shirt. Literally forgot I even had that till I saw it in the video lol
This was awesome..got me hooked right away..What kinda prep did you need to do for the interior rhino liner?
I gotta know more about the radio mod. Where did you get the head unit and modified panel ?
It's exactly what I want to do to mine.
Great job on making this thing bearable again. Some of these mods out there are outrageous. Will you leave the rear lights the way they are? I've been waiting for those covers to be gone since that car came of the trailer.
This thing turned out so good the interior transformation is the best part of it where did you order the carpet from
Wait for u for the next episode
Looks awesome. With the new wheels the lift seems a little to big now, but otherwise looks great!!
Great video
love the build, love jeeps, hate those lug nuts LOL
You are a damn good son!!
