Young Je, sir, you are one of my biggest inspirations in woodworking! I have spent 40 of my 53 years becoming a master fabricator/ welder. my prayer is to continue woodworking and bring everything together into wonderful furniture. I am just amazed with the beauty of your work. the care that you take in making every single piece. the tools that you make are far superior to any others. I enjoy making my own tools too. I hope to hand them down to my son and his children. again sir, thank you so very much for sharing your art with us. I hope to someday shake your hand and tell you in person how you have taught me to become a better craftsman.
I have always wondered how people from 100 to 200 years ago made such beautiful pieces of tools without any fancy machines. Finally I have found my answer by watching you work. Thank you for creating this functional pieces of art and allowing us to watch. I feel such privilege to be able to see your videos.
I love theses videos for showing how to make tools- but your results are phenomenal! I think people would pay more for yours than the store bought ones.
Urban Weekend Warrior: I would think they would, when you compare the 2, this one took 40 hrs of hand work and is a work of art, the store bought one is a piece of junk, even the overprice store ones will not approach this quality.
@@453421abcdefg12345 I beg to differ on these never being matched by the quality of the work performed by manufactured planes but this is hands down a finer work of art
The final tool is a fantastic combination of function and beauty. Making the shavings at the end of the video is somewhat mesmerizing and satisfying. The video is awesome. Very inspirational. Thank you for showing your work and result.
This is simply one of the greatest pieces of craftsmanship I have seen, your work is art. I can't imagine how good it felt seeing it done and taking that first wafer thin shaving. Thank you for sharing
You continue to amaze with your knowledge and skill. I never thought I would be fascinated with building of a hand plane but your style of fabrication surprises me. Particularly with the way you tightened up those dovetails. Well done!!
an incredible example of your skill and craftsmanship what a beautiful tool it must such a pleasure to work with, a true honor to be able to watch you build thank you for letting us in.
this comment section is so viewers can give you their opinion or make some kind if comment on you, the work you do, the process, or whatever else.... im kind speachless at how nice that plane came out and the shavings it produces. some times people admire the projects that woodworkers create, butvthey dont know how great we feel inside when we are finished, how proud we we are. just by your results i know you know, and you know that know that you know.
That Plane is a true Beauty! Great work, seems that the Plane itself outperforms the high quality Veritas iron that you have put in craftsmanship - wise. Great !
How 54 people disliked this is beyond me.. haters! This is unbelievable!! Not only is it beautiful but Look at those shavings!! Young Je you sir are a talented man..
Kinda startled me, when in the opening part of this video, I saw your red tipped glove, I thought perhaps you had some sort of on the job injury, then later in the video I saw the whole glove, gave me a bit of a chuckle. Beautiful job, and thank you for sharing.
What a BRILLIANT and MAGNIFICENT Woodworking~!!
Just wish you would talk to us. Love the magnificent work. The details are above anything I have had the opportunity to watch. Your talent is well ... WOW What a privilege to watch.
Is that all you can do with your time. I could have watched an entire TV series during that time on Netflix. That's why I don't have a fancy plane like that. Too much time with the TV. This is a great video or both were. It screams quality!!! I did take one of the Harbor Freight $10 Winsor planes and flatten it like you did and shimmed the blade so it'll do a decent job. Comparing my plane to yours is like comparing apples to rotten fly infested apple sauce. I just have too many projects in the way to make such a luxury item , if I'm even good enough to build in this bracket of quality.
Brilliant work! Interesting that there's no back iron on this plane. It seems to work perfectly well without one. One wonders why makers such as Norris always used them?
This is an outstanding achievement ,how many hours do you have in this ? The only let down is the use of those phillips head screws, but I imagine you could not find the size in slotted head. Many Thanks, this is inspirational !

Incredible work! Thanks for taking us through the process. It's a real privilege to watch.
Thank you so much~
I agree, privilege is the right word, thanks for putting your time onto making this video for us.
I like how you are doing all the metal by mostly hacksaw and tools which most people have access to, This is more than a tool, its a work of art!
I don't know what's more impressive. Your craftsmanship? Or that those harbor freight tools have lasted multiple episodes! Love your work, never stop!
haha
I'll have to hide it next time ,,,,,
I do not give a benefit to me ,,,,

A thing of beauty. It is inspiring to see what you can do with hand tools, patience and skill. Thank you for the many ideas you present.

Beautiful plane. Your hard work is evident in the final product.

As Jay Bates so rightly says. Beautiful workmanship. I was wondering what you did as a job because the tools you make are a work of art.
I am a furniture maker, and I am addicted to making hand planes.

You are an artist !! Are you the best hand plane maker in the world ??
You sir are a MASTER! Thank you soooo much for sharing this.!!
thank you so much~
Your planes are beautiful and inspiring. Have you had any problems with expansion and contraction of the hardwood used?
That's really nice.
beautiful work, thank you for the video. Just curious, what is the wood you are planing at the end?
True work of art....Thanks for sharing...
So nice and beautiful. I made one bit not beautiful like this one! Really bravo!
True work of art. And super functional. Was that Maple you were planing to around 5-7 microns?
Wooow ! Really beautiful work ! Thanks for sharing !
What kind of double sided tape do you use? Also what kind of glue to you use to glue the wood in. Beautiful work.
Wow. That's absolutely amazing.
