I am Annoyed with what is being said about Universal - $50 Wizarding World of Harry Potter Challenge

- In today's video I head to Islands of Adventure at the Universal Orlando Resort for a challenge to see what all I can buy with only $50 inside The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and let me tell you that you will definitely need more than that! I also take you inside of Ollivanders to watch the wand experience and I purchase a wand for a giveaway. Next, I take you around Hogsmeade to enjoy the interactive windows to cast some spells. After that I take you around Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios for a few park updates. Finally, I share my opinion about the budget cuts that Universal is making and I explain why I am so annoyed with how the community is making this into a bigger deal than it needs to be. I'm not sure about that, Dev. My disagreement is rooted in the observation that these companies often lay off their lower-level employees while their top executives continue to receive high salaries, even during difficult financial times that affect everyone else. It seems unfair that those in positions of power are not willing to share in the company's financial burdens by accepting lower salaries for a year or two, while the little guy is left to bear the brunt of the cuts.
I love that you're doing more Universal content, Dev. They've really won me over from Disney, and that's saying a lot since I've been a Disney fan from birth, but it's great to see the investments they're making. Universal also does a great job helping out parents with neurodiverse kiddos... something that doesn't get a lot of coverage, but means a lot to some of us.
My favorite Harry Potter character is Sirius Black. Best quote "If you want to know what a man's like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals". I thought he was the pivotal moral character of the entire series.
I remember when my friend and I used to write Sirius Black Fanfic. He was one of the more intriguing characters.
@@a.y.greyson9264 I agree. The prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite book also out of the entire series. You basically had an entire book dedicated to the introduction of a new character.
@@keithwillis3761 Honestly, after reading the third book and waiting for the fourth one to come out, I was sure it couldn’t get any better. Sirius Black was such an intriguing character. However, my favorite book is GOF, as the whole Mad Eye Moody reveal caught me off guard.
i find it ironic that an entertainment company's first budget cut is always entertainment...
I'm sure there's a lot that goes into the decisions. How many interactions these performers are creating, how long they're lasting, etc. I hate to see anyone lose their job, but I have faith that universal is offering them positions somewhere else within the parks. I've never interacted with the cab fella or the port of entry folks. I'm walking right past them to get to where I'm going
As for the budget cuts....I think people are more upset with Universal than they were with Disney, is people expect better from Universal.

I understand that Dev has a good working relationship with Universal so I see the need to “defend” the budget cuts but I totally disagree with his stance that nobody was up in arms and not making a big deal when Disney had their (multiple) budget cuts a couple years ago. I heard ALOT of people speaking up against that, if I heard it I find it hard to believe that Dev did not hear the same outcry of people when it happened. But again I get the motivation behind the defense.
There's a good amount of people who hate disney with a passion. There are hate channels dedicated to making anti disney content. So I'm not sure why he's saying that people aren't blasting disney for what they do.
He's become so pro Universal and anti Disney. When I started watching his videos he was very objective when going to both parks. So seeing him brush off the cost of going to Universal in this video after the last Disney video he did, where he said he is not renewing his annual pass due to increased prices, it's clear he is now biased.

Great job, sir, as always. And I totally agree with your commentary. It always is sad to see employees lose jobs, but as you point out just look at the opportunities that Universal will be bringing to the area within the next 12 months or so. Give the organization credit for what its future plans are.
It was better in 2019 except for velocicoaster and Hagrid. They are having staffing problems.

Hey Dev, sorry to disagree with you. But the budget cuts are not cool. And it's not just the talent. A lot of what separated Disney and kept them in front of the pack was the impeccable condition of their parks. I remember my last trip before we moved here. I went back home and told friends and family "Yeah it's expensive. But when you get there and take a look around, you see were your money went. Dumbo looks like it was built yesterday." Disney has been failing on that. And people have noticed and paid attention with their wallets. This is the perfect time for USO to pick up the torch and run with it. Not make excuses of why they need to cut not just talent, but maintenance. Just my two cents.

We love your content and have been watching for several years, all the way back to Prince Charming Dev and shortly after you started. I love you concentrating on Universal often! It drives me nuts to see so many people so brainwashed about Disney. Luna Lovegood is my favorite character! I love how mysterious she is and always so positive about life. Coming from an entertainment background, I do agree with you Dev. It is sooooo unfortunate, that the entertainers are being let go, but that is part of the life. When the new park opens there will be a big need for entertainers again. Love your content! Have you ever done a staycation at the Drury Plaza hotel? I had some relatives that stayed there and raved about it. It is close to Disney and has transportation to the parks as well as lots of other amenities within the hotel itself. Also love your cruise vlogs. Looking forward to your next staycations!

As for your “rant”…I think alot of the aggravation/angst regarding the changes at Universal is that most are used to Disney doing less and charging more; but Universal had done a decent job of keeping as much nostalgia as possible until recently. I hate to see the actors let go but you’re right that they’re on the cusp of a new dawn. Hopefully, there will be compromises to satisfy everyone. I’m truly excited!

I think universal is like Disneyland in Florida as in a locals park. So I can see locals being vocal over changes. WDW is definitely more of a tourist park.
Its great that you are going to the park and then getting something to give away. Ive been watching utube for a long time and give aways are a newsurprise ive only seen a few times. I especially like it because i have never been to that park. I live in Oregon so California is where we go fir parks.
