I put off buying hiking shoes for the longest time because, let's face it...there are SO many options! How was a girl to know which would be the best trail shoes in 2024?! Thankfully, I lucked out with the Salomon Speedcross 5s with a friend's recommendation. However, I had heard so many positive things about the Altra Timp 3 I decided it was time for me to test it out and see which of the two shoes would be the best trail running shoes for hiking.

The great news is that even though they both have their pros and cons (which I go over in the video), I really did love both trail runner hiking shoes. They are both excellent shoes, and I plan to keep them both and use them depending on which one would be best for that hike!

Uh oh I think I have 14 or 15 pairs of trail shoes now. Different shoes for different conditions, dry, wet, muddy, gravel, rock, sand, cold weather, hot weather, snow, rain.🤷♂️😳🤦♂️😂🏃♂️

@@TheGearLady The Saucony Peregrine 11 is a great all rounder as well as the Arc’teryx Norvan LD 2 & Arcteryx Aerios FL GTX, The Adidas Terrex Free Hiker. I’m waiting on the Salomon Ultraglide though, that’s their brand new thing. Minor obsession.😂😂😂🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️

I stick with Altras because I do love the width and zero drop. For me, having that extra space definitely helps me. My only concern sometimes it that altra's sometimes have a little bit of a struggle when it comes to durability. Thanks for the review!

Thanks for the nice review, although it's a bit surprising that there was no mention of the main feature that sets Altras apart, the zero drop (vs 10mm for the Salomon); would be nice to hear how you feel about the drop difference between the two. I personally switched from Salomon to Altra mainly for the zero drop first, width second.

You can add on the foot-shape features that sets Altra apart.
