    I am so happy with your Baptist fan rulers. I just finished a large quilt using mono-poly on the top. It went so smoothly. I have tried baptist fans using groovy boards but was not happy with the results. Your rulers are time intensive but the results are almost perfect which is what my customers want 😉. Thanks for developing these rulers. If I could make one suggestion: a video showing how to do the start of the final row at the top of the quilt. I finally figured it out but it might be helpful for others using the rulers. Thanks again Michael!

      Hi Deb! Thanks so much for your comment. I am glad that you have great results with the set. Time intensive is right, but you actually get faster at it the more you do, like most things. But in general - yes it takes time. Thanks for your suggestion about final row. I'll put that on my video to-do list. Thanks again! Michael

    Hello Michael. I received your fans and have been practicing. I agree, working from the bottom of the quilt is easier. How to you find it best to load the quilt pieces? I was thinking of loading up all layers on the take up bar and then pinning the "bottom" edge to the backing bar ("belly bar" i think they call it). Or, if you have a better process, would you share? Thank you for great tools and tutorials.

      Hi Catherine! Glad to hear from you. Did you see the latest video on my channel? The quilting of the giraffe? On that quilt, I basted the entire quilt before I started doing the fans. And that is the way I always do it when I quilting fans. Check that out and see if you like it.
      Happy Quilting!

      I Barbara - that's on my list. I have had wonderul customers end pics of their quilts using the set on a sit down. But no footage yet. I will try to get one out to everyone!
      Happy Quilting!

    Michael do you baste your entire quilt while quilting with the fans from bottom up?

    • @michael.quilts
      @michael.quilts  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes - I do an all over very loose meander, then start quilting the fans from the bottom. Never had any issues.

    I love the fab5 fan set but have not done the Baptist fan design with it yet. I have just done complete circles which stitch out so well. The reason for not doing the Baptist fan is that if starting at the bottom of the quilt, which makes perfect sense, what happens at the top? Do you deal with that the same way you deal with the end of a row?

      Hi Karen! So glad that you are enjoying the set for its many uses. You are exactly correct about the top. If you just think in your head that there is more quilt than there actuually is, you'll be fine. In fact, if you have anough backing, feel free to stitch out the entire design, and then trim, but the traveling stitches ensure a bit more stability until the quilt is bound. But I know many longarm quilters who stitch an edge to edge off of the quilt, then trim for the customer to bind, so it's the same concept. Let me know how it goes!
      Happy Quiltng!

    Michael, Would you consider creating Star quilting set rulers for the patriotic quilts?

    • @michael.quilts
      @michael.quilts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like a fun project! Do you mean like instead of an arc, it creates a series of stars that radiate out and match up like the fans do? That would be cool if so. If I am not understanding what you mean and I am not on the right track, then let me know.
      Happy Quilting!

      @@michael.quilts Hi Michael, I am looking for a set of star rulers, different sizes to use quilting patriotic quilts which my group has made a lot of them. I love your rulers. I am a free motion quilter and have not found any star shapes available. Imagine different sizes or one size star shapes to use in designs. Morris is my favorite artist. Been collecting his design fabrics since 1990’s. Thank you for your awesome rulers!
