- Here I show how I make a step notch from scratch for a 51 Chevy pickup that has a speedway 4 bar kit installed in the rear. I also make some custom airbag brackets to get the truck laying on the ground.

Nice job on the C notch. That's a sweet project. You have all the cool iron out west. Send some to the east coast will ya. Lol.
haha you folks have some cool tin out your way also, theres still lots out here but the prices are starting to get out of hand for some of it.
@@HalfassKustoms all the old tin out here comes form eather down south or out west. A field find truck not running missing parts sell here for well over 5 grand
I watch a lot of your videos and you do more in 5 days than that Chad guy does in a month! Keep up all the great work and your number 1 in my book!!
You can tell right away, it is not his first rodeo. He's so humble about it too. Love all the metal fab!
Love your work on the dump truck, love the music and your happy attitude, thanks
Des
Without a doubt the best videos on utube
Thanks for sharing and letting us hang around your shop. 👍
Really nice work you make it looks so easy. I learn a lot from your videos. I will never be able to do that quality of work. So I enjoy your Teaching. Thanks
Hey Brent shall be a great truck, it's well on the way . Sure has a great grill too .Time to follow along on another journey . Just mentioned it yesterday to Lori , "wonder what's Brent gonna be up to next ," and now we know . Have fun !
Busy, Busy, got have something keep going, you make it look so easy. It is the way you step a frame.
You can guarantee yourself I will be there liking and enjoying the labors of yours Brent. Your a good fab man and have no doubts in this job. I have seen them mounted so many ways and I can't say which is perfect. I don't miss the bed space... clear off the wall, my buddy John L. does the old internationals as he calls himself mr international.... since he is a millionaire, he has to much time on his hands and at nearly eighty years of age, that it self is commendable, does these. I used to do all his welding till I got crippled. I think between alaska and texas as he goes there in the winter, he has around five thousand different types/styles of those old rigs including that rattly old four cylinder diesels. His favorite is the 56 jubilee and he must have thirty of them because they had cowboy cabs and wood beds.. to each his own.
I like the IH's of this era nice and big cabs in them
Again I always dig your Fans! Great channel! ...Newk from Kentucky USA
Thanks for checking out the vids!
I had a 3/4 ton truck (it might even have been a one ton) like this back in the '60's. It had only a 6 Cylinder in it with a one barrel carburetor. It was a 4 speed on the floor from the factory with 1st being a Low "low" first gear that could pull out tree stumps but couldn't go any faster than 5 mph (You Pulled the shifter over to the extreme left and up and if it didn't go in you knew it because it was reverse) . I usually started in 2nd gear (where 1st would be on a normal 3 speed). It had an 8 lug wheels and 16.5 tires and was geared so low it couldn't go any faster than 60 MPH. It was so high it could go through brush and mud like a 4x4.
haha I bet it was screaming to get to 60mph
briquetaverne, that low gear was intented for the hay fields. You could put it in low first , you could get out and pick-up bales, while just idling and pick-up bales by yourself. This i know because we used to do it back in the day. That was some hard ass work when your only 12 years old... Done that shit for years& I hated it.... That old 1949 Ford flathead & flatbed had a lot of field miles, not to many hwy miles.Loved that old Ford. Wished we would have kept it.Pa-paw sold it along time ago...That was the good old days. I'm sure you remember the good old days too.
We called that bulldog gear
Oh man I can not tell you how excited I am watching these videos! I have a 53 Chevy I’m starting on, so perfect timing! I agree with the above poster, could you please show more of the air management side of the installation in the videos? I would love to learn that . Between you and dan I have cancelled my cable subscription, can’t thank you enough for Teaching us all. Cheers for Kelowna 👍
Thanks man, I will do prob be back on it next week buttoning things up on it.
Been wanting a 49 to 54 five window chevy truck for years , good clean three windows are getting as hard to find as the 5 windows keep up the good work
There actually pretty easy trucks to find out here.
@@HalfassKustoms These city people dig them out of barns and have big dreams and prices like they are Barrett Jackson show trucks , most of them you can put your hand thru the cab anywhere and i dont mean the window openings , but I'll run across one with good sheet metal sooner or later , yours looks good
I just finished my 45 dodge pickup build,,,was a fun project,,,on to the next , either the 72 chevelle are the 64 Galaxie..but it's a blast cruising around in a 80 year old truck that runs and drives like a new one.
0:10 Wow nice new grill and bumper. Plus the hood emblem and headlight rings. 👍👍👍
Always like your music selection also.
I've got a '78 Firebird front clip and a '90 C4 rear end in my '54 1500~drives like a dreamboat~especially around corners. Amazing work Brent, weird how it misalignes when you have the bags low, well, as long as your not driving it that way...
yeah everything seems to move weird though it's travel but I'm use to that. just make sure stuff is good a ride height and should be smooth sailing.
Can't wait for the frame mod I have a 51 chevy that I would like to try that on. thanks for all the great info.
Very interesting to see your how - to, with all the cutting, welding and fabrication. Thanks for the video 👍
Iam working on the same truck right now! Awesome video!
Nice work. I like the way you show the design tweaks and trial-and-error that goes into a custom installation.
It might be of interest to show the process of plumbing an entire air ride system. There is a lot of hidden "stuff" that goes into a system like clearance for air lines, compressor location issues and wiring. Even the process of installing the air lines on the bags, without damaging the o-rings, would be of interest to newbies.
Yeah I'll probably go though a lot of that as I go.
Nice work as usual Brent! With the right tools you can make anything work!
That's interesting of how you fixed the bags and mounts. There's nothing like a truck setting on the ground. Well be looking forward to seeing the next video. 🤔
I'm happy you're doing an old Chevy pickup, I'm off to pick up my '56 in Medicine Hat on the weekend, looking forward to chop, cut, weld, rebuild ha ha ha!
Going to enjoy this build! I already done my 53 Chevy truck!
O man .. Hot rod heaven! You’ve got all wicked toys to play with , skills dude:)
Hey Brent. I really like what you do. Bring back the 40's and 50's. Between you and Dan, it is coming back. Nice work for young bucks Thanks for sharing. A fellow Canadian. Drop over to the Dog House and give me some pointers. 👍👍🍁
Yes indeed not too shabby at all. Sweet ride bro !!!
You always do a kickass job on all your fab. work keep up the great work and videos
Awesome job keep up the great videos take care and stay safe and stay blessed see you in the next one
Not much into the LS craze. I like to keep it old school myself. Thanks for the video....look at the next project.
Me too. His "can do" attitude is why i subscribed to his channel :-)
Nice bagged rear end cant wait to see it put together bro !
Your work is awesome. I wish I had the shop and tools you have. Keep up the good work and be SAFE up there. 👍👍👍👍
NASHVILLE, TENNESSE
Thanks man.
Nice job that old chevy going to pull in and sit right on the grass to cool man👍
Nice guitar, piano blues, great vids,
Ha ha just seeing you having a heavy night on the moon shine and next morning looking though glazed eyes realizing you fitted the carbourd .you know I love you bro lol all ways look forward to your posts .god bless from over the pond from the Victorian workshop
Yeah man there both gonna b nice when done looking forward to the clip on the truck in the front yard
Gotta Love the Tech , Well Done Brent ! In my next Life, I'd get you to Commision a vehicle , You do Nice Work
Thanks Murray!
That thing looks sweet sitting on the ground and you're the master at this fab work. You better be glad you live far away cause I would be hanging out tinkering with my junk getting ideas from you to use on mine lol I enjoy stuff like that and learn some tricks from you. I'm not a welder so I'd have to bolt everything together. You're going to have a big collection of super cool rides and going to run out of room to put them all but if u run out of projects then I will let u have at my project so u can make it cool also lol but I'm sure that you will find something cool to throw together out of scrap and it will be a super cool ride keep up the great work bud
Wow, what a great Channel!! You're freaking amazing. !!!
I like the way you did your c notch I'll remember that.
Nice I love these late 40s early 50s Chevy pick ups this ones yours r you building it for somebody definitely got my attention again lol 🤙
not mine helping a friend with his.
Great work. Thanks for sharing your projects..
Stay Real.
Making it all look easy.....Valuable skills... : )
Just found this one. I really like how low it is. Easy for me to get in. Lol. Wondered how stuff was kept straight for notching, now i get it.
I like the three windows, better than the five. Jack.
It's looking good. Another great video 👍👍🇨🇱
Replayed the section with the step notch welding/fitting 3 times so far,for the music :)
Nice looking truck.
Have the drive shaft come off your transmission to the back of the cab. Put a carrier bearing on a bracket just below the back of the cab. then put a drive shaft from the carrier bearing to the rear end. (Pinion gear.) That way you won't have to Do any cutting to make it work and look professional. I wish i could help. My job was building driveshafts when i was young.
Love the squeaky toy!
Awesome job keep up the great videos .
Nicely done 😎👍
i wish i could "like" this more times. Have you done a video on how you built your cnc and all the hardware and programs you use?....because i need one of those in my life right now.
no but I think Dan wants to make one so we might make a video if he commits to it haha
Halfass Kustoms Well if he doesn’t I volunteer for next in line.
The drive shaft will need some lovin.
yeah little bit of ttweek'n
That's a nice truck, I like it
Just love it , same truck I’m building 👍🏻😄
Another great video
Nice work!
Holy cow poo your good ,Great videos
Nice 👌. #STAYSAFE ##KEEPBUILDING
Really Cool!
Cool man ! I got a.tractor project im workin on but after that i may have to try one of those. L. S. Motors they look complcated wiring wise but they make power and are dependable. Maybe not sure yet or i just mite watch you do it i enjoy your videos im pretty old schooland dont take to change ha!
Yeah seems to be what everyone wants nowa days though. depending on the ride I like the old stuff.
We see, later buddy. Keep rockin. Oh did your headliner behave this time?
Nice work. Always! Can you tell me the bands/musicians that provide that cool blues/jazz soundtrack NICE!
Just a bit concerned about the angle that you have the rear axle at. It seems to be angled down. Do you intend to set your driveshaft up at equal opposite degrees rather than parallel?
it is but it's not at ride height it will be a little down but not as much as you see in the vid.
Buenisimo..! Buen trabajó..!!
Looks good.
Ever thought of using a two piece driveshaft with a center carrier bearing on the Chevy truck just a thought🇺🇸😎
yeah have one might look into it.
Thats how i build mine
Just noticed you have one of those spiffy Deca welders. I was torn between that and a Miller; ended up buying the Miller. How do you like the Deca? Can you still get consumables at Princess?
I haven't really used it, my plan is to have it just for flux welding for working on farm implements. I would say a good choice on the miller vs it haha although I guess it depends how much welding you do.
That trucks gangster
Reminds me of B.B . King
Heyyyy super job
I usually spend more time looking for "stuff" than I do working
haha some times I should do that, then I wouldn't have to fix it 2x some times.
Notch too shabby. Sir.😄
Good job, and damn fine music. Where did you pick up the magnetic level.?
think it was amazon
Nice 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Looks good to me
YES NOT TO SHABBY !!! THANKS !!
Nice !!
Did you have to modify the floor for transmission
Yeah but the floor was totally gone on this truck when I started.
Isn't the lower links supposed to be level with the ground?
Yeah, the should and I'm going to be revisiting all that as I go on with the build yet.
I'll let you get back to work. Good day.
You’re a busy man! When do you ever sleep? 👍Tony
plenty haha at least I think so.
Bravissimo
I would check wheelbase, dropped, and ride height! It has to be changing at least an inch or two? Front mounting points on the four links, is awfully low! Love the look though! Getting ready to start on one with my son! We'll be using an s10 frame though
Yeah, the should and I'm going to be revisiting all that as I go on with the build yet.
Why would you not just lengthen the s10 frame, and use it?
Frame swap is more work at least I find it is and doing a front clip swap.
She will sell quickly
haha I think it will be for sale when it's done.
google e-z swap chassis they sell kits for body swaps for chevy trucks
yeah I kinda have one myself and maybe I'll go that route we will see.
❤
Not a fan of air bags
36 lol
