[HKUST Halls] The Freshman's Guide to HKUST Halls

We hope you've enjoyed the video! This video was inspired by Chloe's video that helped us out a lot when we were picking our own halls, so we wanted to add our own opinions for incoming freshmen who know nothing about HKUST.

I want to add that when choosing halls, don’t just choose something like 7, 8, and 9 as your 3 preferences; as those halls are the best, they are always in high demand and spots run out quickly(especially if you’re first year), and you’ll be more likely to get sent to hall 5 due to lack of spaces in any of your 3 choices; I’d suggest choosing halls 1-4 or 6 as one of your preferences and choose 7-9 as your other 2

hi, i am an international student who has local status in hk. Recently I attended one of HKUST's welcome sessions and in that they said that halls 1-5 are mainly locals living in them and halls 7-9 are international students. I'm sure it will be a problem for most international students to live with locals (not trying to offend anyone here :)) so ig its better to choose the preferences like 7-9?

Hi, I appreciate your advice. However, I have also see some saying "I chose 7,8,6, but I ended up in 5". Is Hall 6 competitive too? I am scared of ending up in hall 5

What are food arrangement in hostel. Whether cost of food includes in hostel fee.
