So basically I'm posting this cus I'm a fan... if you have an axe to grind with other ex band members or have a problem with me posting this, let me know... Brilliant song, brilliant band,RIP Tom...Respect...
RIP Tom Verlaine. Amazing song
it's easy to forget how good these guys were. it's not complex stuff , but inventive. these boys always could jam. just saw 'CBGB' the movie, and had to hear more TELEVISION.
that Telecaster is beautiful.
Where's his jazzmaster?!?
@@dogsquadindia good question, maybe ELVIS COSTELLO stole it.
I remember being struck by how quiet they were that night, for a rock band that helped define an era that was so loud.
Recently got into this band, thought they’d retired. I’m so happy right now
It's not the same without Richard Lloyd though :(
I wouldn’t hold your breath with the pandemic and everything it’ll be at least two years before they’ll be back playing and they are getting on. I’m waiting for them here in the UK, I’m heavily doubting I’ll get to see them ever.
@@jackharkins1689 well if it goes our way I’ll see you there
@@luizspindola yes it is
:(
Unbelievable song. For debut record you just cant get better than Marquee Moon. RIP TOM VERLAINE. Thanks for the memories and amazing music.
❤
こんな動画見れて最高だ!!
人生においていつもどこかでなってる曲。アルバム。
RIP
Bought a copy of this record at a yard sale in 1992 for 25 cents. Hadn’t heard of them at the time but I liked to watch television so after I bought I enjoyed listening to Television.
Half a fucking bar , and every single human within nine iron distance , was spotting the song !! Probably know the words to this 10 minute treasure .
Billy Ficca,Fred Smith too,what a band.
Tom Verlaine’s solo is so psychedelic.
It was great to be able to see these guys play. I first heard them in 1979 and have been inspired by their music ever since.
I was lucky to watch them play in 2002. Tom's voice definitely better back then, but I still love to see them playing! Still remember the day I found a cut tape out of a bunch of Madonna, KennyG in a free market in Guangzhou in 94. I listened to it for the first time with my roommates, and we were all shocked, thinking they are as great as the Zep, just in a different way!
'As great as Zep, just in a different way" is a perfect way to describe Television.
Yeahhhhh his vocals suffer here ...and in contemporary shows
Some great playing here. RIP Tom Verlaine.
watched this video earlier this year and held out hope that I’d see them one day. RIP Tom
It's amazing to see the way the guitars complement each other.
Still the greatest song of all time! Elliptical, enigmatic, yet so instantly and intensely accessible. Television closed with this at Shank Hall in Milwaukee in 1992 and it was just stunning! Everyone who was anyone in Milwaukee was there on that Monday night, and it remains one of my three greatest concert moments of all time. Verlaine and Lloyd's were linked in a way that is impossible to describe. Just musical nirvana!
Rest In Peace Tom. We love you and will always miss you .
I remember
Ooh, how the darkness doubled
I recall
Lightning struck itself
I was listening
Listening to the rain
I was hearing
Hearing something else
Life in the hive puckered up my night
A kiss of death, the embrace of life
Ooh, there I stand neath the Marquee Moon
Just waiting
I spoke to a man
Down at the tracks
And I ask him
How he don't go mad
He said, "look here, junior, don't you be so happy
And for heaven's sake, don't you be so sad"
Life in the hive puckered up my night
The kiss of death, the embrace of life
Ooh, there I stand 'neath the Marquee Moon
Hesitating
Well, the Cadillac
It pulled out of the graveyard
Pulled up to me
All they said, "get in, get in"
Then the Cadillac
It puttered back into the graveyard
Me, I got out again
Life in the hive puckered up my night
A kiss of death, the embrace of life
Ooh, there I stand neath the Marquee Moon
But I ain't waiting, uh-uh
I remember
How the darkness doubled
I recall
Lightning struck itself
I was listening
Listening to the rain
I was hearing
Hearing something else
RIP Tom 🖤
the song played on pinguin radio( long songs on the longest day of the year) never heard of televison. now i do! love the song
Thank you for posting one of the only things making the new century blissful and sublime, the 2017 Verlaine tour. I saw it in LA at the Teagram Ballroom
Epic song....hard to keep tight over that long of a piece but they nail it every time - plus they had some freestyle jamming in there at the end to extend it even more.
A timeless classic
Jimmy Ripp really learned how to rip those Richard Lloyd parts.
I was listening to them all the the time in the early 80's, then seemed to drop off my radar. Now back again in my late 50's, what a mistake! Can't stop listening now....
Thank you for this!
I didnt realise how much I missed this!
Im actually crying at how good this is!
😭😭😭🥰
Youve made an old man happy!
Ive made a mess in my trouser area!🥴
Thanks for posting! By the time I found out about these shows, they were sold out. Awesome performance by a legendary band.
Was hoping to see the legendary Verlaine-Lloyd interplay.. I hope Richard is doing great.. R.I.P, Tom..
thanks for showing this...old times brought back with this
There’s a small group of guitar players, that everybody has to go through to be considered what competent . Number one is one of the founding fathers Chuck Berry. I would say The Ventures is somewhere on the list and television definitely on the list as well.
I was lucky to see them twice
Amazing....
RIP Tom
Rest in Peace Tom Verlaine 😢
Great song!
Thank you
Name checks out .
Great! RIP 🌷🌷🌷
'Hesitating...' Appropriate, in this case, I'm afraid. Cadillacs and graveyards indeed.
aw, shit. I didn't know Verlaine died, rest his soul.
9:53 to 10:50
goose bumps
Every damned time and you can hear the people hollering
RIP Tom😢
Tom Verlaine. Out of this world guitar. Richard Lloyd. Fuckin'A... Psychodelicpunk?
RIP Tom who passed at age 73.

Genius Band - makes Lou reed look pop.

u ever hear of a little thing called white light/white heat?
@loopy Ruane you "thought" they sucked. One opinion doesn't make it a truth.
They are all legends. You are? Loopy? Aaaah...
Check out the first two Velvet Underground albums.
Coff.. coff.. Metal machine music coff...

He couldn't make it... he was hanging with the blank generation

That's the band minus Richard Lloyd, with Jimmy Rip in place of Lloyd.
U got it homie
Missing Richard Hell as well.
Keep going next time
They sound a Bit Like the Early Talking Heads
that other guitar did not do his research
Hi-
Did you video the unknown song before "Persia"? It was an gap on the stage setlist, and can't figure it out.
Cover of Count 5's "Psychotic Reaction".
I think it was a song called "The Man In The Backyard."
Billy Ficca is so great.
Really really great
