Because it's a Portuguese word, and it just happens to have two meanings in the variety spoken in Galiza: "fofo" and not "maga". for me the Galician language sounds so familiar and pleasant. even understanding everything from Portuguese spoken in Portugal *which is the same as in Brazil* the Portuguese accent is very different I do not know why.
The Portuguese spoken in Brazil is definitely *NOT* the same as the one spoken in Portugal. The differences are so significant i can even tell if a *text* was written by a Brazilian or a Portuguese.
Actually Galician has some very different words and you can tell only by looking at some aspects if a person is Galician or Portuguese. So, that's actually not very different from the differences between European Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese.
