Alright folks, I am back after a summer break. I partnered up with IFootage to show you the new Q38 quick release plate. I have integrated this into my system, and it works perfectly. If you have any questions about it, drop them below 👊
Thanks for the share Peter. You were the guy who gave me all the info I needed on my gimbal about 5 years ago. Good to see you still producing quality content.
Thank you for testing whether the plate works with the Peak Design clip. Does the clip also close like with the Peak Design Plate or do you just push the camera in and it could fall out when bending forward?
Companies that send out their products for 'gear reviews' usually explicitly forbid the product from being compared to its competitors; I'm guessing this is the case here
@@justonbrazda3846 Don't get me wrong, I like Peter and his work, but I don't like these types of 'reviews' and wish good content creators wouldn't accept to do them on these terms (unable to discuss competitors' offerings)
In no way do I see how this is better than the Ulanzi F38 and honestly after going to the ifootage website, the information was limited as well as no direct purchase options, and the Ulanzi ecosystem is vastly larger than the ifootage. Ulanzi has had a plate that integrates with the Peak design capture for at least a 2 plus years, this is nothing new or earth shattering. Ulanzi has its own capture v2 that in my opinion is worlds better than the Peak Design one as far as mounting comfort and options. The Ulanzi system has almost exact duplicate of the DJI gimbal plate with their F38 system plate. Also the F38 plate has a Arca Swiss mount as well as well. Not to mention the cages for the F38/F22 system are incredibly versatile. I have personally been using the Ulanzi system and it has been ROCK SOLID, tripod, gimbal, camera sling and capture. Peter your reviews of products have always been great and I have learned so much from you, but I this case I feel a little like one or possibly a few different things possibly happened. Did you have a failure with the Ulanzi system that was not disclosed, where some equipment was damaged, and this prompted you to look for an alternative? Were you sent the product by ifootage and they paid you to review and use it? Was there an issue with dealing with Ulanzi that drove you away from them? Maybe simply you just wanted to try something new? Or is there some other reason that prompted you to seemingly drop a system that you sang the praises of three years ago, that has been constantly updated and revised since release? I feel that when promoting a system or product to switch over to it is important that we as "consumers" know why it is better to spend our hard-earned money on that equipment and why the previous equipment used is being retired. Not trying to put you on blast here, please keep sharing information, learning, and review videos, but I think in cases like this is important in the TH-cam review world that there is a bit more transparency about things like this.
The answers to this question is already in the comments. As far we know, he just wanted to try out something new. I will still rock on with Ulanzi/Falcam since I like the design language and the low peofile nature of their cages. They don't hinder the monitor rotation of my camera unlike other cages do.
Is the falcam cage compatible to ifootage q38 rs? In some Videos they show, that the falcam quick release plate for dji rs3 doesnt fit perfectly. When you lock the Button on the gimbal you can move the plate back und forward.
Looks very very similar to the PGYTech system 🤔 I used the Peak Design in the past, now I have the PGYTech for cameras, bag strap, and Action cam but I’ve been considering the F38 for a while, just because it integrate so well in their cage 🤩 However… the switch is expensive :/ Cage, action cam, bag strap, F38 and F22 plates and sockets etc etc I think all together my estimate was about 600-800€ 🤔 I like that now this plate is compatible with PD capture clip, because there is still one PD accessory I cannot live without it’s the Lens Holder. This thing is insanely useful, I literally cannot film an event without it 😅 Unfortunately, no other brand made an equivalent 😞 EDIT: I just realized that this is Q38 and not F38, I'm wondering if they are compatible to one another 🤔
Hi sounds like a big investment. I is not compatible with the Ulanzi/ falcam F38. what I did not like about the PGYTech is that it release in the same end as the button. This one does. I have been using the ulanzi f38 for years and also have the cage with the plate, but I find my self not using the cage any more. I like this system, because it just pops in and out.

Thanks mate. Always love when the OG’s come back and say hi.
Thank Peter for this DETAILED video demonstrating how to use iFootage Q38 Quick Release on gimbal and tripod.
You are welcome mate.
This is amazing! Thanks for the review I’m going to go pick one up right now!
Yeah they are pretty dope.
Hi, Peter; thank you for your channel. What is the average weight of a Ronin RS 4 Pro and Canon R5C gimbal setup? [all accessories]
Hi, thanks I don’t know but I can tell you what my set up weighs if you are interested 👊
Thought you swore by the Ulanzi F38 QR plates?
Yes, have been using them for the last couple of years, but as with everything, new products come to the market.
Thank you for testing whether the plate works with the Peak Design clip. Does the clip also close like with the Peak Design Plate or do you just push the camera in and it could fall out when bending forward?

The difference is that it snaps in place where the ulanzi slides. And it works with peak disign accessories.
@@PeterMakholm nice. Ulanzi also works with PD now. They have a V2.
@@gabriel-mckee yea funny how kit a single reviewer has compared ifootage, ulanzi, and pgytech plates/system. It’s the obvious thing to do.

Hi man... I got a weebil 3s gimbal... Do I need de basic q35 or q35 mini? Thanks man!!
האם צלחת rs תואמת לראש הווידאו K3s Komodo ?
I just asked IFootage and are waiting for their response
I got the anwser from Ifootage, and It is compatible with K3 Komodo
Hey Peter thank you for your review, do you know if the plate from PGYTech also fits?
Hi, No it does not fit. I have tried it here in the stuido. when you put it in it will not engage the locking mecanism.
@@PeterMakholm Thank you for your quick reply, it's a pity that every manufacturer develops its own disc
Sold🤝
They are amazing. been testng them for 4 weeks before I made the video.
@@PeterMakholm Yeah I've been looking for something that allows me to snap onto my gimbal well without being a bulky quick release on the plate
I want peak design base plate. It’s no go for me. I guess.

i wann like tis but is te same like the ulanzi but the price is 2x I will past
I think you spelled "SMALL" wrong in your thumbnail
Thanks, I have changed the thumbnail.
…. like the PGY TECH
I haven't used it.
< Falcam
Similar to the falcam system, it just pops in and not slides.
Need? No. And if you have your own discount code it just makes the video harder to take as real advice versus sales pitch.
Hi, yes the video was sponosred by Ifootage, but I never promote anything I don't use my self.
@@PeterMakholm but I would also use whatever was free.
Had mine for a couple of weeks that I paid for & it’s really good. Much better than the f38 & ulanzi plates I used previously
