omg yesss. That's why I'm done with makeup for good (only using in weddings/graduations and all that jazz) because I couldn't get used to ME anymore, and that's when I knew I had to fix my mind, not my exterior, and now I'm free/human af and there's nothing prettier than that :)

I am a glasses wearing girl myself, but surprisingly a lot of people like glasses. There are people who wear them without needing perscription, and research has stated that people find people with glasses more trustworthy. Give them a chance, if you find the right glasses they can be very nice (though you cannot lie down on your side when wearing them).

Asian girls are beautiful, cute and sexy as they are with their natural eye shape..this fake, over done shit isn't cute at all it just looks overdone and creepy. I mean, to each their own..but so many girls in Asia are feeling inadequate and unattractive because of beauty standards such as these; it's time we look in the mirror and lift each other up for our natural beauty.

Anime eyes don't exist but still she has bigger eyes than most people. The lenses made it look like "anime eyes" because of the large iris. (like when you do a cosplay of some anime character)

Many Japanese girls suffer from that kind of obsession. I, too, used to feel less confident without circle lenses and it was so hard to live without them.
I'm not saying circle lenses are bad, but not all girls wear them just because they enlarge the eyes. They CANT live without them. It was when my boyfriend told me "I prefer you without lenses." that I could stop wearing them. All I need was love and confidence.
I love you both wearing circle lenses or not.

My boyfriend says the same but I still cannot stop wearing them. I think I’m going to try taking smaller steps like not wearing them everyday of the week to help me ease out of it.

Don't wear contacts that aren't fitted to your eyeball by an optometrist.
NotMykl I totally agree with you. Unfortunately my friends don't believe me when I tell them about the dangers of poorly fitted, cheap circle lenses from the costume shop.
Agreed. But also some doctors don't know wtf they're talking about. I was given a pair of contacts and he gave me the wrong pairs. I'm now blind because he gave me the wrong ones. So really it's up to you (speaking in general) to make the decision.
also never wear contacts if you can feel them in your eyes. if you feel them, remove them immidiately.
and even if you order themm from costume shop, make sure they provide enough oxygen to eyes and they are the correct size, i mean, all of the numbers have to be correct. dont wear slightly more curved lenses because they dont have your size EVEN IF THE PERSON THAT SELLS THEM TELLS YOU IT'S OKAY. it's not.
if you wear them right, they are awesome. my sight stopped worsening when i started wearing lenses (i know it gets worse if i wear glasses because i tried it again later). it was one of the best things that ever happened to me. i was so happy i cried when i first put them in. apart from cleaning and putting in and out, it's basically like having your sight back. i've been wearing them for 8 years. the only problem i had was my eyes getting easily irritated or even inflamed in the first year, but then i learned that it's because they dont let enough oxygen though to the eye and changed to better ones and it's been awesome ever since.
Hanji Jaegerbombastic please refer to an optometrist. They the one who know abt the refractive error & contact lens fitting.. not even the doctor know how to do that. Opthalmologist really different than an optometrist.
Luna Mooncat I'm totally agree with you people really concern about teeth and get monthly appointment to the dentist. But somehow putting cheap lens into eyes that can lead to blindness.
Kudos for being able to quit. It's hard to change in front of an audience of people.

Hey Taylor, I'm an Optician in Canada. If you're still noticing discomfort without wearing your lenses I'd recommend taking omega 3 supplements and doing a warm compress with a towel and massaging your lids. Also using some drops can help too. :) Blurry vision is a symptom of dry eye.

Sara Fisk Imwore prescription contact lenses for years. The white of my eyes has become dirty looking, yellowish. Can you tell me if there's anything I can do to make them white again. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Angel Devine I would recommend seeing your local optometrist or ophthalmologist. Discontinue your lens use for sure though.
Angel Devine go see your doctor. Yellowish eyes can be due to an excess of billirubin.
Completely unrelated to the video, but does anyone else think that if there were a live action version of the movie Tangled she would be a perfect Rapunzel. Not only does she look like her but she kinda has the adorable personality too. Just a thought though :3

i currently wear eye-enlarging contact lenses, and have been since July of 2017. they’re the same color of my natural eyes, but i always thought that because they made my eyes pop more, they made me prettier and a little different from other girls. hearing you talk about how lenses were your mask, that hit me so hard. i completely try and mask my insecurities by using lenses and changing who i naturally am. i hope i’ll be brave enough to stop wearing them soon like you❤️
Yes, they have to be fit to your eyes. Buying lenses online is very dangerous, part of an eye test is checking the diameter to be sure you would be okay with different brands (and different widths). It isn't about your eyes breathing, it's about squeezing your actual eyeball and cutting off circulation

I feels kinda gross to me. Considering a lot of the damage she mentioned was trying to live up to an impossible standard of making herself look "unique". I don't think the solution to these feelings of insecurity is "dont worry! you still do fit this impossible standard"

TaraTheLoneSloth lol I didn't notice at all, I feel like it's one of those things, the person wearing them thinks they look so different, but others don't even notice!
The three most common dangers of overuse of lenses *particularly* circle lenses are 1. Corneal ulcers, 2. Eye infections, 3. blood vessel overgrowth in eye (corneal neovascularization which is non reversible). If you haven't had a contact lens check in a while, you should get one to check for this issue. Based on your verbal history, I'd be very surprised (but delighted) to hear you don't have overgrowth. It's important to have this monitored if you do have it, as it can become quite problematic and dangerous. I'm stopping myself going into more detail & boring everyone, but hopefully this (really brief and not inclusive) list will warn people of the importance of regular contact lens checks (not the same as regular eye appointments) when using contact lenses. This is why it is illegal to supply lenses online in a lot of countries, but they cannot stop you ordering them from abroad. Please get checked Taylor, it's best to know and safely monitor the condition. Xxx Rose

Aww, I love this. It's so important for you to be able to focus on the more important parts of yourself, without sacrificing other things. Personality, being comfortable in your body, and your mind are far more important than a specific makeup and eye enlarging style. I'm so glad you're able to do this and feel comfortable with it. i feel like a lot of people, especially on the internet, hate change and might not let you move on from your past, but your past is still who you are/were and i just want to say that i admire the way you have grown and matured and everyday are loving and accepting yourself even more! Even if you weren't completely 'natural' before, i've never thought you were fake, just simply growing up, learning things, making changes and being human, i think you're really inspirational in your own way
That's crazy hearing that you use to wear enlarging contacts for 20 hours?? If you decide to wear them again I highly recommend the 1 day enlarging ones as it has a higher water concentration and more hygienic as you throw them out after one use. Usually the longest I wear contacts is 8 hours but not everday.
I feel like you have no idea how bright and funny and spunky you are or how much you have to offer those people who follow you. We all learn these lessons as we go and to see your process of self realisation and growth is pretty special. Just be Taylor and people who truly care about you will still love you in every iteration. Taylor’s a really special person...trust yourself and don’t hurt yourself to be what you are not. As an optometry student I'm really glad that you've made this video about contact lenses and your complications. Often people don't understand the risks involved with contact lens use, especially large lenses without consulting with an optometrist first.
This is actually my first time watching one of your videos and I have to say you are very beautiful, even with barely any makeup/accessories. You've also got a lovely personality and I really believe that your career will continue to grow. :)

A few years ago I used to wear them a lot as well... I still really like the big eye look but I don't need that to feel pretty anymore. I know I was kind of addicted to this living doll thing so I'm happy that I'm going for a more mature look nowadays.

Thank you for this!! I'm so glad you did this video. It's important for people to know this and even point out to those who don't realize you and other creators and models' eyes aren't naturally so huge irl (which can actually perpetuate the standards that cause people to want to continue to wear them all the time). This sort of being open helps others to feel more confident in their natural beauty instead of forcing themselves to be uncomfortable to feel beautiful for crazy standards. Being in the lolita community, I was very aware for years that circle lenses can be damaging and uncomfortable. Thank you for sharing and for being open!

I think that we all have something that we use as a mask. I know it's taken me a very long time to feel comfortable in my own skin. I think that as you get older and wiser, you start to really value your life experiences and dear friends rather than superficial things. I know for me, having my daughter was a turning point because I look at her and only see beauty and when I talk badly about myself or put on a lot of make up, she is the first one to tell me how beautiful I am without it! Anyway, sorry for my novel. You are a beautiful, intelligent, and funny young woman and the things you say and do have much value!

aoko sakano, I never meant to be patronizing at all. I love makeup and love experimenting with different looks. But just like everything else, it can go to an extreme as Taylor was saying. It was effecting her health and even career. I would NEVER look down on someone for using make up, because I use it everyday.

i also struggled with this wanting to wear contacts all the time. i only feel pretty with them bc my natural eyes look boring and dull. but like you said it became unhealthy to wear them too much and i actually had a minor eye infection and had to stop wearing them. thankfully, my vision is still good. now i really don’t feel pretty or confident at all without them and idk what to do. i

If you look at my profile picture here on youtube ( from like 3 years) you can see I had the same weird thing with contact lenses and eye makeup, it really becomes an addiction after some time and you feel like you are not yourself if you don't make yourself look like that. Once I stopped that I realized how much better I would look without that stuff and how much easier getting ready and my lifestyle in general was. It was a cute phase I guess but happily just a phase (still have the photo tho cause I'm too lazy to remove it 😂)

Your eyes are already beautiful the way they are.
I'm also an avid contact wearer (8+ years) , through experience with different brands I've found out brands that are more comfortable than others. The one thing you need to look for is the water percentage, I always wear those with 55%, my go to brand is I.fairy which also available in big and normal diameter (15-14.5).

Taylor - you're so sweet. I'm so glad that you're putting your health and safety first before fashion/lifestyle. It's so easy to see the signs of the things that destroy us and even easier to push them aside and get on with the day ignoring the red flags. But eventually there comes a day where we're at a crossroads and we have to choose to save ourselves or continue down the destructive path and many people pick the path of destruction and when they finally DO choose to save themselves, it's often too late. I'm glad you caught things in time that you can manage your eyesight vs going blind. :]

I think it's so important that someone finally talks about this, cause there are so many people forgetting about this stuff. I met so many people wearing circle lenses all the day because it looks "cute" without caring about the damage it can cause.
Your eyes are naturally stunning!! You don't need circle lenses, your eyes are big and beautiful. Definitely avoid the circle lenses, they have caused me many health issues. You are a natural doll, embrace this!
I am happy that you saw how harmful you were treating your body (eyes) and chose to stop such harmful behaviour.
I only hope that other people see that doing physical damage to your body is not worth it.
Try to become the person you want to become without damaging your body.
You look so much more mature, and professional without your contact lenses! Although you look beautiful either way, I prefer your more natural look:) I applaud your strive for positive change!

For this reason I have my own set of rules when it comes to wearing my lenses.
1, never wear when ill or having allergy flare ups cause dry eyes be a thing
2, if I'm feeling discomfort remove immediately
3, if I wear lenses for a long time (like for conventions), I give my eyes at least the next day to breathe.
4, maintain general lense care.
I've stuck to the rules no matter what and am still maintaning eye health!

I think it's insane that you can just but contacts online. When I got prescription lenses, they fitted them to the shape and curvature of my eye. It must damage them to do that
if you find contact lenses that have the same curve as your eyeballs, i think it shouldn't damage them
Right. If you go to an optometrist, or just look at your prescription if you already wear contacts, they'll have a specific size and curvature on them. I've never bought color lenses before since I had trouble finding some for astigmatism, but the sites I checked allowed you to pick. Also, some brands may make contact lenses that are more porous, since there are prescription lenses that are like that.

To be honest, I don't even liked your doll-like look but started looking your videos because of what you talk about and how you let people feel while they were watching your videos. Also as I looked "Having a bad day" the first time, I thought "wow, even without Makeup she looks so pretty" and mostly because of your charisma (I used google translate for this word, I'm not quite sure if I found the right one).
And now I'm quite interested what is going to change and will follow this journey because I like you and your videos more and more for the past 1 1/2 to 2 years
I love you because of who you are as a person and how true to yourself you are. I loved you with the eye enlarging makeup style, I love you with more of a natural look. I stay for your videos and the content you produce. I love that you're always yourself, that you have fun, that you're always striving to be a better person. So just do you! I'll always be checking in and watching your vids no matter what style you have. I think sticking to that image when you were building up your brand paid off, it was probably the right decision at that time in your life. But we all change, our style changes as we get older and become influenced by other things. It's only natural to change and grow but you'll always be the same person 💖

as an avid circle lense lover, i completely relate to this, especially with the psychological aspect, when wearing them multiple times a week becomes your thing, you get really hung up over your eyes looking 'ugly' or 'small' when you don't wear them, it can easily turn into an addiction >.
