Uptick long videos are amazing. Light up, pour a tall glass of brandy, lean back, open up the watch box, stare at the watches, listen to upticks asmr, go to bed satisfied. Bonne nuit.
I'd like to see more of these reflective videos. Very impressed a Belgian knew how the Telcom Act consolidated the radio industry and lead the effort to commodify music.
I picked that up from Rick Beato whose channel I love. Being a huge music lover I can't believe the current state of the industry. Not to mention what became of MTV which was everything for me when I was a kid
Im a big fan of all the channels you mentioned plus the Thursday videos from Fratello. A great way to spend 30 minutes. Thanks for all your fantastic content! Maybe we have run into each other on summer vacations in Belgium!
I know what you mean about the Tudor on the rubber strap. I recently picked up a BB54 and almost bought it on the bracelet. Thankfully I got it on rubber instead. I think I would’ve been looking at the bracelet all of the time and seeing it as trying too hard to be vintage. On the strap it looks modern with a slight nod to its vintage roots. And it’s so comfortable. I mostly wear rubber straps with one exception; my Explorer (36mm). And tbh, I would love to see Rolex make a white gold Explorer 1 on oyster flex. It will never happen. But I would likely buy it. But I think you’re right about the Tudor GMT being a little bit of a market test. It wouldn’t surprise me if we see precious metal gmts next on oyster flex.
Always love your content Uptick! I haven’t bought a watch in 2 years and am currently trying to get down to about a dozen. So many beautiful watches and once you swallow the red pill 💊 there’s no going back 😎! Best regards
I like your take/opinion on things. Long form in great! Also I would like to request more movie over dubs like the American Psycho, with your crazy humor.
Well said!!! @25:56 Maybe they are the only true watch journalist left. As for selling watches, hear hear! If it's a dealer talking in any form, I turn it off instantly.
Tip top L'Uppers! Lovin' the long form. Do I spy a meteorite face behind that moon phase..? But yep, too many Omegas in the last month. It's given me a headache, but still tempted by that black dial no-date on mesh. A dive cousin for my Marine... For sure, trying to be more considered this year after getting my 1860, which I hope will bring me great LUC for the year ahead. Watch YT? Nah. Most of it's a waste of time. But if I did, I'd watch ID Guy, tho he's got a bit Tudery. I still think Armand the Watch (Guy) Chronicler was the best. His deep dives into Rolex divers were legend. The ultimate teen enthusiast, probably a KC now. But onwards and upwards, have a golden year and wear 'em well.
Happy New Year my friend. Congrats on the 1860, Chopard is the brand mentioned the least that does the best watches. I did like the black Seamaster on the wrist. ID Guy is great and agreed, Armand is (was, where is he now?) such a scholar. We all learned a lot from him.
@ And a HNY to you, Sir. Perhaps less is more when it comes to one’s collection? I think I may begin, Phelps-like, to drive for 5. Obv this doesn’t include Seikos.
You sold all your watches to a dealer and wear only Tissot?!? Just kidding, just wanted to let you know I listened to the whole thing. Love the format. Listened to it while on a long walk with my dog. "Uptick Uncensored, Unfiltered, Uncaged" should be the name of your podcast. 🙂
Excellent content, definitely a relaxing look at the current situation. I think uptick its time to show you and your friends and replace hodinkee's b.s. with true enthusiast taste!
You say you force yourself to wear the rest of your collection when you just really want to wear the Tudor, I think there is a problem there if you are forcing yourself to wear anything, it’s almost like the watch owns you!
“Have I been a savvy collector or an overindulgent child”? If we’re honest with ourselves that is a great question we face whether we admit it or not. Probably a little of both I think. Enjoy your stream of consciousness musings!
BONJOUR MON AMI! I LOVE this format.

Fratello, yes of course! RJ is right on point on so many topics. I watch them as well

great format
We all enjoy your voice. Speaking on behalf the entire internet.
Very kind. My actual voice is actually rather unpleasant but somehow when taking about watches into a mic, my tone of voice deepens.

High praise! I'd call the podcast Walking the Dog if I had one but we can't even have dogs in my building 😞

Great podcast! So no Watchartsci for Uptick huh?
Occasionally...

The watches own me, great way to put it. Isn't it true? The amount of time spent obsessing about watches is abnormal.

I am going to have to ask Amanda to lose my number
