Holy moly dude I did not know you reviewed this car. I know you as the nz jdm youtuber so this is interesting lol. I used to own this car 2 years ago but recently replaced it with a gt86 and that’s how I found your channel.

From the UK here,i got the 2015 1.3L CVT, the 1.3L are much better on emissions (about 114g/km) compared to the older Yaris i had 2002 1.3L 4sp with roughly 153g/km. We have a 1.3L 6sp manual and the 6th gear ratio is for much better fuel economy, many people didn't know that. The CVT & manual will do the same mpg!

Thanks for doing a review for this specific model. Does it feel underpowered when going uphill?

Little bit, but still gets around just fine

Yep, I've been driving this model (1.3 litre) for a few years and it has enough power for most trips. It starts to struggle when in the following scenarios: if you're overtaking, if you have 4 adults in the car, if you're driving at >110 km/h, or when you're in the mountains and wanting to keep up with the traffic uphill at high speeds. You can try to get the revs up, way over 3000 rpm which makes it quite noisy. I never found it a problem, as most of my trips are in/around town. If you're driving long distances, drive in the mountains a lot, or carry lots of weight, I'd go for the 1.5 litre.

If its a four speed auto, why does it say D-3 in the normal drive position?

Because there are two positions there - to the left is drive (4 speed), and if you move it to the right (the same position vertically), it limits it to the bottom 3 gears. A lot of toyota transmissions from the 2000's and early 2010's are similar
