Respighi 'The Adoration of the Magi' - Geoffrey Simon conducts

'The Adoration of the Magi' is the second of Respighi's 'Three Botticelli Pictures' ('Trittico Botticelliano') inspired by the paintings of Sandro Botticelli, the great 15-century Italian master. The same subject matter inspired many other artists of the period, as will be seen in the accompanying video. Respighi's music, which quotes the ancient hymn 'O Come, O Come, Emmanuel,' is played by the Philharmonia Orchestra under Geoffrey Simon's baton on a Cala CD (CACDS4028).
