^ This. It's just shit tone. Most people don't really know what "out of tune" sounds like, so if it sounds off, that's what they assume. Wonder if it's a semi-acoustic thing to have a lousy clean tone, 'cause this mate I played with had one and fuck me, it sounded awful unless you put some serious effort into EQ or effects.

I'd say there is a logical explaination for Jamie's guitar. It _is_ out of tune, more than it usually is while playing this song. Anyone thought of the combination new strings+pedal? I'm sure he would have tuned it if he knew, but neither one of them got to try out their instruments seeing as they just started right away ... They're still good, though.
i think jamie's guitar is out of tone intentionally, and i say this because if we look the official video, we'll see that is full of clowns. And the music from the circus have this kind of "out of tones" rare melodies.
They were a lot better live in their earlier days though. Watch their performances at T in the Park 2006 and Glastonbury 2007, much better stage presence and far more entertaining.

lol It's nothing! There's a vid of Kasabian (one of my fave bands) at Glastonbury and the bass playing is just awful. The line-up HAD swapped about but it's still painful to listen to. AWFUL.
